People who have been rich from their childhoods are so out of touch that they give advice like this. Most people NEED IMMEDIATE LIQUID FUNDS IN BANK ACCOUNTS TO LIVE AND DEAL WITH EMERGENCIES. The truth is investing is only really a good idea once you surpass a certain level of annual income. There is so much bad financial advice on RUclips. People starting out or in tough situations should save money before doing any "investing" where you are guaranteed nothing and in fact more likely to lose money, and in an event where you need that money you would have to wait weeks to actually withdraw your funds.

Lately they've been a little loose with their savings, albeit much of their spending just going into fixing up their house, building a new shop for my uncle, redoing their fence & yard, and taking a few trips. My aunt, being the accountant in the family, knows inflation is hitting hard so they're spending it on things they could use or justify using. Better it go to things that hold some shred of value. Long story short: Put your cash into anything else of stable value, because it's definitely not a good time to be holding onto large sums of money. The number of wealthy interests spending their cash on hard assets is proof of that.

Here is a suggestion: since prices are going up and will continue to go up then go to the store and buy a year worth of non-perishable supplies. You will buy them at todays prices which will be cheaper than a months from now prices. Its a way to beat the inflation and it only works if you have the space to store all these goods.

I’m finally meeting my emergency fund goal soon, and honestly, an online savings account doesn’t seem worth it to me right now. Yea 0.5% is technically more than 0.01%, but in real numbers that only translates to an extra $50 at the end of the year. For the convenience of having my money instantly accessible, in my direct account, I’m ok giving up that $50. Now, if online savings accounts were still at 2-3% 💯, but as of now, I don’t see the point. Also, the inconvenience of locking up my money, so I can’t touch it, for only a 0.7% return through a CD? What if I randomly lose my job in the meantime and need the money? I’m risking that scenario for a 0.7% return? Nah, I’m ok rn with my 0.01% return if it means instant, unrestricted, access and easy transfer to/from my checkings. I’ll reconsider when interest rates go back up.

I’m finally meeting my emergency fund goal soon, and honestly, an online savings account doesn’t seem worth it to me right now. Yea 0.5% is technically more than 0.01%, but in real numbers that only translates to an extra $50 at the end of the year. For the convenience of having my money instantly accessible, in my direct account, I’m ok giving up that $50.
Now, if online savings accounts were still at 2-3% 💯, but as of now, I don’t see the point. Also, the inconvenience of locking up my money, so I can’t touch it, for only a 0.7% return through a CD? What if I randomly lose my job in the meantime and need the money? I’m risking that scenario for a 0.7% return? Nah, I’m ok rn with my 0.01% return if it means instant, unrestricted, access and easy transfer to/from my checkings. I’ll reconsider when interest rates go back up.

Buy whole life insurance. Easy 4-5% and after 2-3 years the right policy pays you to own it.

I'm earning 51% on my worst policy. After 2.8yrs it breaks even. 🤷♂️. 2% is the WORST policy. 60% is about average for GOOD policies.

I’m a huge saver I save as much as I can every paycheck! I avoid buying fast food and coffee/going out pretty much everything lol I’m happy living like I’m poor knowing I have some money in the bank as a 23 year old
