@RC Review -- Hi Francis, thanks for the video and the convo this weekend (father & son TRX-4 Sport upgrades) -- :) We've just upgraded the TRX-4 stock motor to the HH CrawlMaster Pro 10T, as well as changed the stock servo to HH SVH800 direct-powered servo -- a huge performance change. Since 10T has more rpm than 21T, I also replaced the stock 17T pinion with a 15T pinion this helped me increase the overall gear reduction ratio from 36:1 to 41:1; still, enough speed for donuts (my son likes drifting :) ) + super smooth crawling, will be replacing the stock ESC with Hobbywing 1080 and the stock radio system asap to get more performance. :)

@@WIDGET738 Hahaha, why would i pay $100 bucks for something i can get for $15. I don't care what you say, the Holmes motors are way over priced. I would never own one.
My trx4 has the trail master sport 550 27 turn and for 20$ it’s a beast. Also, I wanted to ask what’s causing that’s squeak in the truck. I hear it on mine as well and can’t figure out what’s causing it. Let me know if you know what it is and how to stop it. It’s kinda annoying.
As good as it is, I still think that's too expensive for something brushed, I would still go for a sensored brushless setup. (The idea of the brushes deteriorating and the motor losing performance keeps bugging me, and I just can't get peace of mind with a brushed motor :/
We have a wide range of brushed options from $15 to $150. Not everybody likes brushless. It's not always just price, but feel, predictability, and weight that matter. Brushed wins competitions at the highest levels.
@@johnrobholmes Yeah, some people prefer brushed over brushless, and I understand. I might pick up one for my TRX4 comp build I'm working on right now.
You get more torque and wheel speed from a revolver or puller pro. You are comparing crappy brushless motors to top notch brushed motors. IE castle and hobbywing to John Holmes. No no.
john basterson not sure if that reply is pro brushless or pro top level brushed. I was commenting and what I meant is that a Crawlmaster Pro on a good ESC May be better than a Hobbywing Axe. I guess I should have clarified that.
This is definitely the high end of brushed motors. It is very close to comparable brushless sensored motors in price. With Brushless motors though, you are required to buy a matching ESC and those are about $100+
100dlls? for a brushed motor?? in 2020???... Why???? I know its cheaper compared to a full AXE System but, You are half-way there spending 100 bucks on a brushed motor and you will get so much more by going with the AXE in every single way its worth the extra 100 bucks...
It's not always about the price. Some people like the "feel" to be a certain way. I can build a lighter, cheaper, and higher performance comp rig with brushed too. The axe is a heavy and large pig that isnt compatible with anything else. Fine for just trailing, will never win a national level event though.
@@johnrobholmes thanks for that comment. I’m looking for a crawling motor and it’s either this CM 10t Pro or the Sport. what is the biggest selling point of the pro over the sport in your opinion?
That is true. Brushed gives insane modulation for less money. The case for brushless in crawlers is worry-free reliability in all kinds of water, dust, mud and difficult conditions.
RC Review in my experience.. I wouldn't agree.. try to open your brushless motor and look inside, there bearing gives up faster due to higher speed and I had motors full of corrosion and mud .. water will eventually get in but then it doesn't get out easily

It would be awesome to do a comparison because of the huge price difference. Check it out if you get a chance.
will check
@@WIDGET738 they sure look the same to me.
Usually what causes the squeaking is the ball in the center driveshaft. Put a drop of oil in it and it should be good.
As good as it is, I still think that's too expensive for something brushed, I would still go for a sensored brushless setup. (The idea of the brushes deteriorating and the motor losing performance keeps bugging me, and I just can't get peace of mind with a brushed motor :/
Agreed. It's a high-end specialty item. Nice things.
Crawling speed vs Sloth.....who's slower?
A sloth controlling a crawler would win.
Brushless seems to be a gimmick. I get it in the fast cars but for crawlers I think you get better performance with a Holmes
Can this motor coupled with the 1080 handle 3S?
Good question. Would run it three times but it seems like a pretty high load put a tiny ESC.
Yes easily. The holmes motors can handle 4s (the limit is the esc here) I have yet to get my esc above warm running overgeared on 3s.
Looks like it needs the camper body!
The one that comes with the sport?
great playground ,it s a good brushed motor!!!!! but price is expansive for brushed, you have a brusless for this price, isnt it
This is definitely the high end of brushed motors. It is very close to comparable brushless sensored motors in price. With Brushless motors though, you are required to buy a matching ESC and those are about $100+
@@RCReviewChannel thank you for your complete answers ,i m ok with you
2.2 wheels burk
Man that is expensive I know expensive thing more cost more performance
The good news is they have the Chrome master sport. Like most things in this world the last 10% off performance usually costs 90% more.
100dlls? for a brushed motor?? in 2020???... Why????
I know its cheaper compared to a full AXE System but, You are half-way there spending 100 bucks on a brushed motor and you will get so much more by going with the AXE in every single way its worth the extra 100 bucks...
Not for everyone but it's good to have this option.
Hanging on buy your nuts there at the end lol, come on.....did she drop???
Yes. Fall! None of our trail crawlers can do that side hill. The Capra and some belly draggers can.
That’s awesome, I love the reviews you folks do. Trusted reviews that are not parcel, picking out pro&cons are all part of the review business.
I am first
:)
Don't see why anyone would go brushless .. just too expensive .. if you spend the same on brushed you'll get better results
That drag brake sucks!!
Would this work well with a stock Trx4 esc?
