In series 3, Ten said something like, "Some people live more in 20 years than others do in 80. It's not the time that matters. It's the person." And I always felt that applied so well to his version of the Doctor. He lived so intensely for, in the context of the show, only the blink of an eye compared to most of his other lives. His run was defined by glorious and passionate and devastating emotional highs and lows, and I felt everything right along with him, through every victory and loss and tragic mistake. There's something to love about every era and I'm excited for what's to come, but Ten will always be my Doctor.
I can't believe this was 12 years ago, I remember my mum in tears at this regen. I was just in awe of it, one of the most emotional, epic, climactic things I'd ever seen as a 6 year old

The Queen Vic in EastEnders was burning at the same time for the same reason. A move to HD for the BBC's flagship shows, so better, sharper sets were required. Still, no one can deny that here in this scene, it added to the drama and the sense of tragedy and 'end of an era ' alongside Murray Gold's 'Vale Decem' ( 'Goodbye, Ten' in Latin).
@@cunningsmile4166 but the thing is there would have been a plot twist with that to where all the adventures Amy had with the 10th doctor was actually before he met her and when he crash lands in her garden that’s when he dies so all of the adventures she would have had would be before he regenerates it reminded me a bit of the doctor and river but ultimately that didn’t happen

@KVAcedo27 I agree, he definitely didn't forget them, and deep down knows he didn't want to, he knows what kind of impact they had on his life, especially Rose. Also if you seen in the 50th special, when the War Doctor says "Bad Wolf I could kiss you!" after 10 asks him what he just said, 11 does too, but it is more subtle, and you see a shot of him simply looking up with a sly smile. That was a VERY good subtle scene showing he still holds Rose dear to his heart(s). She's one of the people the Doctor will never forget no matter how many times he/she regenerates, their love was too intense and their ending too bittersweet for him.
I've been doing a rewatch of the revival series since Eccleston recently, and you can REALLY feel the whiplash in energy between Tennant's more dramatic Doctor and Smith's low-key himbo Doctor between The End of Time and Eleventh Hour. It must be a matter of minutes to hours at most between 10th's visit to Rose and 11th's eating fish fingers and custard.
So Russel T Davies wrote the episode, but the last line of his script is Tennant’s “I don’t want to go”. All of Matt Smith’s lines in this scene were written by Stephen Moffat.
Man. I hope whoever actually came up with the regeneration idea for Dr. Who got a huge raise. The Regeneration idea was the most brilliant idea in TV history for a show. Not only can they tell stories with multiple different actors and have it make sense in the story, but they can make the regeneration scenes at the end of each Doctor's era emotional rollercoasters. They can easily just ride on one doctor until either they get tired or the audience gets tired, and then just switch out the doctor and refresh the entire series at a moment's notice.

This scene hurts even more when you realize that at this time this is basically the Doctor’s final regeneration. His hidden regeneration as the War Doctor makes Tennent’s doctor the 11th incarnation.
2:12 is one of the coolest regeneration shots in DW history. I remember as a kid feeling so many emotions. Happiness to see a new doctor, sadness to see him go, it was the first show to ever make me cry. Now, being 17, the emotions are even bigger. Sadness, not because he regenerated, but because this incarnation went through so much, losing Rose, getting her back, losing her to himself but not really, making Donna have to forget all the adventures, the Master returning but then killing himself, then to come back and take over the world. I mean 10 had a sad life, and the way David Tennant was able to make us, the audience, cry as he leaves, is what makes this seen even sadder. I love 10's incarnation :')
Reminder: Tennent's Doctor only lived for 6 years, so it makes the line "I don't want to go" even sadder when you realize how little in terms of The Doctor's lifespan he actually lived.
@@brittical-hit and i hope his third (temporary) re-appearance would finally come into terms with himself and properly let himself go for the true new incarnation to take place.
This is still to this day my favourite regeneration, fitting that it's for my favourite Doctor. I'm looking forward to what Russell is planning for the future of the show, though I doubt he can top his previous work, as it is just a masterpiece.
I like to imagine that the severity of the explosions in the tardis are correlated to the doctor’s unwillingness to regenerate. For example, when 11 became 12, there was just an instant flash, but here, there was a massive explosion
This scene was so good that for like ten years it tricked me into remembering The End of Time as a great story. It’s... not, but this scene is still unbelievably well executed.
This truly marked the end of the 2000s decade. The CGI for the regeneration was beautiful, especially seeing the scale of it around the entire Tardis console room. My only nitpick is that the wavy lines covered the Doctor's face too much that it was difficult to see the faces change from David to Matt. Nevertheless, Matt dominated the ending with arguably the best post-regeneration scene from an acting and production perspective.
I can't wait to see the TVSins Resin of this where they SKIIIIP too hard and accidentally jump from this to Jodie regenning into David again, lmao. "Ooops, we skipped too hard, but look, Time is cyclical, lul"
This is the second most devastating "I don't want to go" in Doctor Who history. David Bradley surpassed it in An Adventure in Space and Time. David Tennant's delivery was sad but watching David Bradley break down as William Hartnell was forced to move on from his most loved role was heartbreaking.
I think I saw this in my granny Joan’s house in the background. Idk if it was a re run or if it was on New Year’s Day cuz it’d make sense why we’d be there on that day. But it must’ve been a long long time ago because she’s no longer with us. I love Doctor who so it gives me a kind of comfort she might’ve been somewhat involved with my familiarity with it. RIP.
I especially love the moment when The Doctor enters the TARDIS and he takes a moment where he leans on the door to sort of get ready or seem to accept what's about to happen. Then he looks at his glowing hand; this is unavoidable now. He then takes another moment by the console where he seems to accept that this is happening and takes off. He walks away from the controls; he's done what he need to. But then he realised "wait, I'm actually not ready", "I don't want to go" And it's at this moment that the regeneration hits the point of no return and reaches its climax as tears well up in his eyes as he is forced to change before he's ready. Absolute 10/10. Best regeneration EVER.
The saddest regeneration. 😭The first episode of Doctor Who that really made me cry. David Tennant was a brilliant Doctor, and he was so good in the role. David Tennant and Karen Gillan both leaving Doctor Who left holes in my heart. LOL at 2:55 😆I like Matt Smith's delivery of that line.
'I Don't wanna go' 😭😭😭 And now it's time for your final bow, like all your other selves. Ten's hour is over now. The clock is striking eleven's. The legend that is the 10th Doctor, David Tennant will never be forgotten.
First Line: "Hello. Okay. Ooh. New teeth, that's weird. So where was I? Oh that's right. Barcelona!" (The Parting of the Ways/The Christmas Invasion) Final Line: "I don't want to go." (The End of Time)
2010 was quite a change for me personally. Not just cuz New Year's Day saw David Tennant regenerate into Matt Smith, but later in the year, we moved away from Thamesmead in Kent up to Suffolk. So on a personal note, Tennant's departure on New Year's Day and then Smith's first series felt like the first of many changes for me through 2010. Along with the introduction of Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill as Amy and Rory respectively. Not to mention the change of the TARDIS also made me think more of moving house. Like us saying goodbye to our old house was like the old TARDIS being destroyed (especially as Thamesmead is slowly being demolished) and arriving at our new house was like the introduction of the new TARDIS.
If The Doctor can be believed, this incarnation was only about 6 years old. That would make him by far the youngest Doctor with most of them regenerating well after atleast 50 years or so. Makes "I could so so much more" make more sense.
In series 3, Ten said something like, "Some people live more in 20 years than others do in 80. It's not the time that matters. It's the person." This is still to this day my favourite regeneration, fitting that it's for my favourite Doctor.
Yeah, but 11 had already released his massive explosion of energy beforehand when he got the ability to regenerate back.
12 years ago and still the best regeneration effect.
14: “ah sh-t, here we go again”
When I watched this episode and saw him regenerate, I shed a tear as it was just so emotional, especially when he said “I don’t wanna go”
“ This song is ending. But the story never ends. “
“ I don't want to go. “
Norwich whenever they get relegated^
This truly was an iconic regeneration! And 2 of my favourite doctors to match. ❤
Doesn't matter that it will be the same madman with a box we all know and love. This scene still tugs at the old heartstrings.
God I hope we get this quality of Doctor Who back. The story, the acting, the music
This scene was so good that for like ten years it tricked me into remembering The End of Time as a great story. It’s... not, but this scene is still unbelievably well executed.
2005-2013 will always be the best era of the show in my eyes.
I agree definitely, 2005-2010 especially.
I never forget the first time I watched it on TV I cried so much because it is so emotional and David Tennant is my favourite Doctor.
I... I love how Matt Smith echoes his catchphrase in his first appearance.
This scene still gives me goosebumps especially when DT says "I don't wanna go"
And now he’s back ❤😊
The Tom Baker of the New Who era. I've been a fan of David Tennant's doctor since the Runaway Bride Christmas special.
"I don't want to go." Five words guaranteed to bring a tear, or several, to any grown man's eye.
The timing of this clip being posted is no accident
2010: "I don't want to go."
2022: "What? What? WHAT!?"
This was sooo emotional when Tennant regen!! I cried. The sorrowful music...Then Matt came on aboard 🙌
In my opinion, this regeneration in terms of processing was and still is the best done that has ever been in NewWho.
I can't wait to see the TVSins Resin of this where they SKIIIIP too hard and accidentally jump from this to Jodie regenning into David again, lmao. "Ooops, we skipped too hard, but look, Time is cyclical, lul"
The music is this scene is unmatched! Peak Doctor Who
This is the second most devastating "I don't want to go" in Doctor Who history. David Bradley surpassed it in An Adventure in Space and Time. David Tennant's delivery was sad but watching David Bradley break down as William Hartnell was forced to move on from his most loved role was heartbreaking.
This will always be the most iconic moment in the show's history.
RIP.
The best regeneration ever and the best end for a great incredible era
"I don't want to go"
We always must exit the stage one day, so too must i
The visual effects hold up so well.
Matt Smith had some big shoes to fill after David Tennant, but he absolutely nailed it.
this was one of the saddest moments in dr who, gives me goosebumps everytime without fail.❤❤
That "I don't wanna go" still hunts me in my sleep...
And he didn't go, well not for long anyway.
But then he realised "wait, I'm actually not ready", "I don't want to go"
And it's at this moment that the regeneration hits the point of no return and reaches its climax as tears well up in his eyes as he is forced to change before he's ready.
'I Don't wanna go'
😭😭😭
And now it's time for your final bow, like all your other selves. Ten's hour is over now. The clock is striking eleven's.
The legend that is the 10th Doctor, David Tennant will never be forgotten.
i like that as 11 says "im not a girl" he's grabbing his voice box, clever detail
As the Brigadier once said, here we go again.
First Line: "Hello. Okay. Ooh. New teeth, that's weird. So where was I? Oh that's right. Barcelona!" (The Parting of the Ways/The Christmas Invasion)
Final Line: "I don't want to go." (The End of Time)
No matter how many eras of doctor who, this will always be the most painful regeneration for me. I still get emotional on every watch.
I watched this last night and I didnt expect it to make me cry like it did when I first watched it like 11 years ago
They had to put the saddest regeneration on my birthday of all days 🥺🥺
David Tennant's Back!!!!
I still cry watching this
2 regenerations later and this is still the best one, let's see if Jodie's can top this
Yeah, 10 and 11 are both Fantastic Doctors. Also very based Shuichi profile picture

If The Doctor can be believed, this incarnation was only about 6 years old. That would make him by far the youngest Doctor with most of them regenerating well after atleast 50 years or so. Makes "I could so so much more" make more sense.
"Trenzalore... we need a new destination, because... I don't want to go."
God, I hope the regeneration into Gatwa is less depressing.
This song is ending, but the story never ends.
This was a legendary moment, 10 and 11 are one of my favorites with 11 being THE Favorite for me.
