Credit to these two players for playing such a fair match even when the stakes were high. I hope others can follow their lead.
Amazing match. Really glad that coll has found his form once again.
That was the best squash I've seen Makin play! He will be dangerous if he keeps that up.
On the other hand, Coll played exceptionally even after the 90 min match with Farag
@Kwistenbiebel200 yeah I think that was the killer blow for makin. Had he had an easy SF, this match would've been veeery different
Coll's stamina and recovery is unparalleled I think.
Great match Coll living up to his nickname. Credit to the canary wharf organisers too fantastic camera quality and atmosphere
Great tournament! Great squash ! Great sportsmanship ! I'm in ❤ with squash again
Joel started like a rocket, all those nicks, reminds of how the Aussie's used to play back in the day. Well done Paul, you played so well. As per usual the match was played in good spirit and sportsmanship.
This gives me hope for hardworking honest squash players like Ali Paul Joe great results worth every bit
Coll very consistent. He’s a machine
I feel the ref should just stop the point when there is a big wet patch and they are just hitting lengths down the backhand side. Why wait till the ball goes into that area to stop…
Because if they are playing away from the affected area then it’s not a safety issue and the rally can continue.
Once the play moves towards the affected area it becomes a safety issue for the players and the rally is stopped.
@@restogoose1822 It's a safety issue either way, if you're only stopping play once someone already moves into that corner again
@@restogoose1822
I understand the reasoning behind the rules, but just think it’s wrong.
It’s dangerous to let the players play on and possibly slip, particularly when one doesn’t have a clear advantage in the rally.
No point letting somebody possibly skid on it and sprain their ankle
I think as soon as the player who caused the sweat patch shows they are still in the rally (e.g. retrieves their next shot) the rally should be stopped, so I agree.
It was the correct call, play on until ball goes back into danger slippery area. No point stopping it too soon as it then only benefits the diver.
Decent match. Congratulations to Coll. I think the semis were more interesting.
I think after 4 days of matches makin was just a bit weathered. It's a shame that's how tournaments work but can't do much about it!
Makin vs Asal was awesome. The White Tiger is in dangerous form
Makin working on his highlight reel in this game. Phenomenal nick after nick!
Some bloody good points there hey!
Love these two
Look! A proper squash match!
Flawless game by Coll
Apart from the first game.
A final with no Egyptions, victory for the game of squash
good match
Where's the Makin vs Asal semi final?????
On PSA TV 😉
@@cookesam6 I am aware. It was a controversial semi. Seems 'convenient' only one was shown. Undermines how well Makin played to get to the final.
Very similar tactics with these two players - go long and hard rallies every time. The only real difference I find is that coll holds his shots a bit more, and has dropshot kill shots.
What do you reckon?
Even though that could largely be their general game plan, that's slightly trivializing the strengths of the two players.
These two tournaments is one of the most attacking I've seen Joel play, and I'm very glad he found this happy place that's helped him beat the World #1,2,5,6,7,8 in two weeks. This really shuts up the naysayers because this proves he has the potential to start winning the major tournaments, rather than "just" a top 10 placeholder.
Coll is also transforming his game over the past year now, unfortunately it seems the last few months has been a "get worse before you get better" situation. I haven't really seen too much of the holds until this match really, but seems when his short game is on point he can be patient while being really deadly.
Really enjoyed watching this highlight, definitely far from the long, boring drilling session these non-Egyptian haters have been anticipating.
@Orbituation true, I think im basing my comment on how they were played a year or more ago. I just know they both usually play very long games!
Porque no suben todo el partidos? 😢
No Egyptians...wow!
Coll the best
Please can you share the Makin Vs asal match?

Was hoping maken would win, he didn’t play as well as he usually does.
Coll played better in this tournament than in a very long time. With this form he can beat anybody.
@@peterhammer6915 still can't beat assal
@@liamstephennaidoo You mean that self-centered cheating individual that's being cast out, even by the PSA?
Who's maken? Spell their names right
@@liamstephennaidoo who is assal? Never heard of him.
Joel is coming, I’m telling you, Makin is coming 100%.
When you lead 2 set to 1, and 8/3 in the last game, stop discussing with the red stay in your game ! 😂 😊
Congrats to Coll for the win 👏🏻
Think they've got a valid reason to be annoyed though - why stop play only when a player is close to the sweat patch? Knowing this will happen, players will avoid hitting to the sweat patch area to keep play going, which constitutes "disruption to play"
It's a weird rule that PSA have in place
No Egyptian in a major final ? You must be kidding me !
Good to see hey!
Egyptians play boring squash. Deservedly not in the finals.
For the life of me I don't understand why Makin just went all out attacking against the sponge that is Coll. It was kind of infuriating to see him tire himself out like that. He would hit a really hard crosscourt, Coll would lift it calmly and then Makin would angrily hit another ball in the middle of the court, which Coll would then make him pay for. Again and again. Like how did Makin's coach not see that?
That OTT celebration is not a good look. Great match though
I just can’t warm to Coll. Anyone else think he comes across arrogant? Maybe it’s just his celebrations but you don’t see Farag celebrating like that.
Arrogant? Coll? What??
the man won the whole tournament with some tough matches, let him celebrate how he wants.
The style of squash was kind of boring to watch with two defensive specialist but fair play to both for the tough contest.
Good to see defence vs defence tho! Taste of their own medicine haha. Made both of them try to attack a bit more - makin did actually make some sweet kills
@@cookesam6 exactly. Bitter Egyptians complaining because they were not even in the final.
That was the most boring squash final I’ve seen for along time, Paul game plan was simple keep it deep when Joel plays loose boast, drop, wow that was easy wasn’t it , Joel had a great tournament beating top rank players but he mentally knew Paul was going to keep him out there as long as possible, Paul back playing the boring squash that got him top of rankings.
Coll was hitting pretty loose at times, but Makin didn’t attack. He had his chances.
The semis were better, but still a fantastic tournament.
Coll played fantastic squash. Especially in the semis agains Faraq. Great that he is back at the top again. Makin had no chance whatsoever.
You really haven't given Coll enough credit, this was his best short game I've seen over the last months. And it is remarkable to stay patient with his game plan even after the barrage of winners Joel was playing.
And please, these professionals are playing for a living. If playing "boring" (highly debatable) squash gets him to the top vs playing undisciplined squash and staying mediocre, what'd you reckon?
How is this even boring lmao nice joke buddy
Great Player's, TOP
