Hello, this is older video, but if you will ever read this, I want to thank you for this tutorial. I tried it on FS22 and I spent 3 hours figuring it out how I should make it work. But now it works and it will save me A LOT of time.
As always, great video @ShyWizard :) Now let me share a tip wit you; in GE go to File --> Preferences and select the Scripting tab. From there you can add your own locations, so no need for copying or using the Script Editor to manage your scripts.
now just need the foliage creator video, thanks again Shywizard, love your vids..... for others viewing, for maps larger than vanilla requires a larger fruitDensity file to match map size, available in the forum thread, in a few places,
A similar feature is now built into the new Giants editor so this script is no longer needed. I have not looked into that much but i have seen it in action.
@@shywizard2979 The built in tool is no good for creating dense forests. So this script still comes real handy when creating forestry maps. Also it is faster since you can only replicate one object at a time with "terrain mesh paint mode".
i have tried this many times and it still wont work i am making a 16x map is there issues with a 16x map or does this script only work on a standard map?
For a 16x map u need to convert the density files & increase there size to 8192 x 8192. The grle converter can be downloaded from the Giants developer network site. Then open the map & save it to convert the png back to a grle then delete the png. Nothing in the script needs to be changed other than what is required for tree placement.
I followed your directions and when I put the directory info in there and went to save the script before I executed it said it couldn't be saved. I tried to execute it even though it wouldn't save it and it did put the trees down. In the console this is what it said...Error: C:/Program Files/GIANTS Software/GIANTS_Editor_8.2.1_64-bit/scripts/TreeGenerator.lua:1: function arguments expected near '/' 226 Trees created! Is there something I overlooked?
Stumbled on this in August 2024. THANK YOU!
Your channel has been invaluable for me trying to make my first map for FS19. Please keep making new videos.
Absolutely excellent, always nice to have good videos for these unique things like this that are impossible to find tutorials for

Couldn’t manage to get it working for 22, wasn’t able to get the fruit density selection to come up under the info layer tab

This is most likely your problem. You need to add ../ before the path in new editor.

My advise would be to head over to the forums & ask your question there.
As i said in the vid i am showing a basic overview of how to set things up.
