That is just gorgeous man. With all those layers the gun belt and holsters must have used up most of a double shoulder by themselves! Well done, and I appreciate the close look at how!
The most beautiful craft and culture of the Cowboy's, it's like a dream for me in India . Just can't take my eyes off this video. I can say more but I love everything about this American wild West .Thank you Sir and God bless you. Be safe out there. Pune City Jai Maharashtra.
That's great, the American wild west is a great part of our history, it inspirers all and makes dreams. If you can have a non-firing replica in India, look into Denix western revolvers, they are non firing replicas for displays, movies, and reenactments, that you can shoot those little plastic toy caps from with their dummy cap bullets, theres a youtuber that shows his Denix, its very nice, his channel is @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen if you're interested. Hope this helps you in your venture to cowboy showmanship.
I've really been looking into owning a single action or a black powder revolver and now I feel confident I can make my own holsters and belts. Walk around like a sheriff lol excellent videos! keep on making!
Good Stuff!! Much appreciated. I grew up around a Leather Shop specializing in Saddlery. They made holsters and knife sheaths as well as an accessory on Saddles and Personal..., I recall one of their Apprentices stating when asked about a certain feature on a Saddle how the Owners stepped in, beginning the Customer's conversation with: "He's just a Novice..., he's only had 20-years training in Saddlery..., can I help you"!? At first I thought he was being rude but the "Novice" quickly agreed with the Owner stating: "I make Saddles but I'm still learning and have to be Supervised". (Yes, because one slip-up and you just Bought That Saddle)!! Leather seems to have "Instant Memory" while us humans take years...,
Thank you so much for sharing this story. I've been working with leather for more than 10 years and there is so many thing I still need to learn, I really understand what he meant! Thank you for watching! Have a great week.
I'm more than slightly late to the party but I think this video has given me the motivation to turn my idea of making my own gunbelt and holsters into reality. I'm giving serious consideration to trying out cowboy action shooting and figured my period correct costume should be based on the outfit I chose to play through the entirety of RDR2 wearing.
I know this is an older vid but I just found you. Just a tip, before you wrap your guns, tape a wooden dowel rode on top of the barrel. That’s so when you form the holster you will leave a path for the front site when it is drawn.
Yay double feature! It reminds me when I was a kid, and we went to the movie theater sunday afternoon - two movies for the price of one. Happy days, also for our parents! lol - and really great work.
Thanks a lot!! When I was a kid, during the cinema festival we could see five movies for the price of one. And it lasted for three days. I was very tired after 15 movies, but it's good memories ;)
I really enjoyed the video, very nice workmanship and probably more traditional than most.. However I have a few issues.. and bnb I can overlook them.. but 45ACP rounds, and the guns too big for the holster.. and I love to see it laid out complete and not rolled up..
Your work is magnificent! I've watched videos of holsters but made with many tools and resources. Your work has much more value, because it is done manually. I collect replicas of pistols and revolvers and also make holsters for them. I don't have specific tools for the job and I often improvise. Yesterday I made a holster for my Remington 1875 and a rustic wooden frame to put it on. Congratulations for your work.
The Redsmith thanks a bunch. I’ve been wanting to make something like this for ages but I didn’t have a gun to use. Are they listed as replicas or something like cap guns?
Next time you do something like this ry using alcohol instead of water, it works just as well and you need not worry about rust, just remember to oile the leather after it drys. The alcohol will remove some of the oils from the leather
It is a thing, and there is occasional written reference . The advantage is the gun can be put directly in without a protective layer of plastic . Works best when the holster already pretty much fits, and you are going on detail molding . The classic example is for factory made holster, to then get exact. "Wet Molding " .
Thanks a lot! the best way to make a pattern is to use cardboard. Make it a little bit bigger as the leather shrinks down a bit when it dries. And most importantly, have fun :)
So both holsters are right hand draw? I keep going back and looking. So one is for cross draw and the other for right hip draw. Not seen that set up before....
@RedSmithWorkshop así? Y tienes Facebook o WhatsApp?
The only critique I have, is that you used 9mm luger rounds for a semi-auto pistol and not .38 cal or .357 mag revolver rounds. But that aside, awesome work, I'm looking forward to making a .22 cal version for my father-in-law.
Well, i wish the holsters in rdr2 would be like yours. In the game they suck, way to big and only the barrel of the gun is actually in the holster 🤣🤣🤣🤣, they really messed it up big time
That is just gorgeous man. With all those layers the gun belt and holsters must have used up most of a double shoulder by themselves! Well done, and I appreciate the close look at how!
Thanks a lot Jim!! It didn't take that much of leather to make them, but it took a lot of time ;)

I live in France so I buy it in my local leather supplier. But you can find stores online

Can you please tell me where you got the guns. Are they real or just good replicas?
I got them on Amazon France. They are nice and cheap replicas :)
The Redsmith thanks a bunch. I’ve been wanting to make something like this for ages but I didn’t have a gun to use. Are they listed as replicas or something like cap guns?
They are cap guns, sold as cosplay accessories
Next time you do something like this ry using alcohol instead of water, it works just as well and you need not worry about rust, just remember to oile the leather after it drys. The alcohol will remove some of the oils from the leather
All the years I've been working with leather, I've never heard of wet shaping with alcohol. Sounds smelly and dangerous.

How far apart do you punch ur hols for the bullets and what kinda glue do you use?
It depends on the size of the bullets.

Meu revólver e um tr88 da Taurus .38 , eu quero saber também o preço do chapéu que vc fez no outro vídeo.
O chapéu inclui frete de 250 euros.
The only critique I have, is that you used 9mm luger rounds for a semi-auto pistol and not .38 cal or .357 mag revolver rounds. But that aside, awesome work, I'm looking forward to making a .22 cal version for my father-in-law.
Thanks a lot. Yeah, it's because the guns are toys for my kids and I used the rounds I had in the house at that time :)
Per saami spec, a 9mm case is .001" larger than 357 & 38, so it'll work for all.
Why make them both the same side though? Wouldn’t they be opposite?
That's how they are in the game. But I thought the same thing.
