Hard to believe our airforce was better 61 years ago.
It wasn't an air force it was an air corp, part of the army like the US had during the war. The US Air Force came into being after the war.
Wouldn't have fancied manning those shore ex-naval guns without turrets, 1st shrapnel shell that landed anywhere near it would have knocked every man in that platform out.
Brilliant better prepared in 1940 then we are now , thats not very reassuring . Good lord we need to get our act together .
England was far more of a danger :)
