With Epica, they often use the keyboards as a melodic layer over the top of the heavy guitar riffs. It is one of the things that really appeals to me, no matter how heavy they get, there is always a melodic element to their sound. Then there is Simone, vocal goddess!
Omega Alive was their 2021 virtual concert, when they still couldn't tour due to restrictions. Filmed over 5 days, and streamed online all together. An intro and 14 full songs, lasting just over an hour an a half. First time they played songs from that years Omega album, The Skeleton Key is one of those new songs. This was the 2nd full song here. One of my favorite EPICA songs overall. You, and I ,have absolutely no business even thinking about trying any of those aerial acrobatics. 🤣 The children's choir at the end, includes keyboardist Coen Janssen's daughter. Every song at this show is worth checking out. Another of the new ones, the 13 and a half minute epic "Kingdom of Heaven Part 3, is highly recommended. Also try from here "The Obsessive Devotion", one of their first ever songs "Cry For the Moon", and the closer "Omega: Sovereign of the Sun Spheres".
This show brought something new to metal, regardless of genre. Above average production. Surely, they are the most consistent and active band in symphonic metal, and even in other aspects of metal, as they bring melodic and harmonic lines with technical guitars at the right point and the best drums of the style, with elements of death and black melodic with excellent transitions.
Hi Killogic,, also from the Omega Alive show, here is one of EPICA's beautiful songs, Simone is incredible in this one 🙃 EPICA - Once Upon a Nightmare (ΩMEGA ALIVE) ~ 2021 [Full HD]
Omega Alive 2021 was there version of a virtual concert during the pandemic. There is a wealth of material from this concert for you to check out. Well done as always sir!
