Scientists at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) identify organisms that are natural enemies of 'Lygodium microphyllum' in the native range of Lygodium and those are the organisms that are then evaluated for possible biocontrols in Florida (e.g., Brown Lygodium moth). The Brown Lygodium moth is an organism that eats Lygodium in the native range.
I heard Macrognathus Siamensis is part of the invasive species list on the Everglades, do you guys have any footage of it in nature? What`s the impact it is causing on native fauna? Thanks in advance.
In Miami I see Australian Pine tree near lakes and rivers and also near oceans.... I don’t see Slash Pine or Bald Cypress. Another evasive species... humans... all those evasive species are the caused of human actions... I order Bald Cypress and Slash Pine trees seeds. They are ready to be planted in those areas where I see Australia Pine Tree
To an entirely eradicate an invasive species would be almost impossible, but surely ignoring it would make the situation vastly worse. The entire place would be overrun without being at the very minimum managed, as someone who lives around the everglades and big cypress region i certainly see the effects of their actions in a beneficial way. Although not perfect, it is at the very minimum necessary to do so as to maintain a functioning ecosystem. Until the day there is a more efficient way to eradicate an entire species over such a vast region we must at the very minimum do this to control the spread of them.
Sterilize the python first, just let everything loose and let them battle it out, Nah, never going to be rid of them realistically. Tell me when get invasive freshwater shrimp, yum!
So what? An earring,a tattoo, piercings what this have to do with proffecionalism if the guy or pal know what he's or her is doing or saying what the appearance have to do with it,or if a police stop you and you see he have some tattoos your going away,i think not
What on earth is your issue with a guy wearing an earring? Why would it make him less credible? Maybe if he was wearing a white pointy hood then I'd see your point. Bigots are never credible.
It's hard to imagine a tougher or more aggressive fish than the African jewel cichlid, gram for gram. And they're not vegetarians! You can count on them doing damage to carefully balanced ecosystems.
lots of babble, but no government nitwit action...….they love to talk...…...more waited taxpayers money for idiotic studies, instead of laws to stop this nonsense...…...its a waist of time now, since they cannot fix the problem
That's kind of what I was thinking. The train has already left the station, so to speak. I'm not saying that all these studies aren't at all useful - who knows, maybe someone can hit on a solution to at least a few of these invaders. But I think there also has to be a realization that the original composition of plant and animal life in the everglades has simply changed in some respects, and nothing can put the genie back in the bottle.
You're so worried about invasive species of animals in Florida, what about the hordes of third world Invaders from the third world countries coming into our country and invading us Americans, don't you think that's a bigger problem.
Keep up the good work, park service employees & volunteers. You are protecting out best idea.

hi
Thank you for the video.
I'll call my friend and go.
See you often.
Wow, if I'm not mistaken, by this video Hillary Cooley is not only a botanist but a capable helicopter pilot? Seriously badass.
I work in Arthur Marshall if your not aware I’ve found African Jewel fish currently as far North as cell 210
Great video guys 👌🏼👊🏼

You go to everglades now, nothing there but snakes. This was 9 yrs ago. Dang
LOL, no. If there are only snakes left there then what will they prey on?
Is this the best image quality upload they have? It's a shame it's so bad. The documentary itself is great though.
what naturally controls lygodium in it's original environment?
cute ranger ;D
how do i get a job like this!
at around 13 minutes is that Withey???

Are the walking catfish edible??
African jewelfish are not predatory, so their impact would be minimal.
Or hospitalized! Whatever comes first.
"We doing everything for the wild life out here baby, yeah look at my by double ear piercing".... Meanwhile 1:48
Yeah as much as I appreciate the effort they need to give it up. You’re not gonna get rid of them at this point. They’re part of the environment

Humans are the most invasive species
that sounds very interesting but who asked?
TheDoomslayer 121 who asked for the 51 other comments?
I once released 2 gay male crocodiles in the everglades, they killed each other

We all know the how & why. You can all stop giving the same 2 minute soundbyte now.

Amen! Ruining Florida and every other state of the US. Scumbag and thieving rioters
@@robertarnold6811 it seems that many countries are facing that, not just America.
