In Kaupapa 5, we explore the rich history and evolution of Māori resistance movements in Aotearoa. From the Kīngitanga, then the revival of te reo Māori to the Toitū Te Tiriti protests of today, we showcase the unwavering spirit of Māori as we continue to stand against injustices and fight for tino rangatiratanga.
We honour the work of our tūpuna, who laid the foundations for the generations of today. These movements are not merely responses to breaches of Te Tiriti o Waitangi; they are profound expressions of rangatiratanga, frustration, reclamation, and liberation.
As we reflect on 50 years of sustained resistance, we see a new generation of tamariki and rangatahi who are unapologetically Māori-proud of their heritage and determined to carry the torch forward. This episode serves as a powerful reminder that these movements will continue until the government or Crown fully recognises, honours, and implements their contractual obligations. It is a call for te iwi Māori to remain united, reminding us and our supporters of the greatness we possess and the greatness we can achieve together.
