I grew up carefully dissecting subs so I could fix tinsel leads, reglue / repair, etc. Most people will scream “just recone it”, but I enjoyed carefully taking the subs / speakers apart to reuse soft parts, cones, spiders, coils, that were still good. My current sub is a frankenstein sub = old Kove Armageddon 15 basket and cone, while the motor, spider pack, and voice coil is from an American Bass Elite 12. The Kove had a blown coil, the American Bass had a destroyed cone / surround. Oh, and a plywood spacer ring to fit under the surround as the cone height with the AB spider pack was different and needed shimmed up, lol. Works well with no issues after a few months. Most people don't have the patience for this sort of repair.
I feel like it's second nature for me it's my therapy to take these things apart and make something out of them this power acoustic mofo sub I rebuilt I pulled it out of a guy's pool that set in it forever underwater 😭
I have a feeling that I will be needing to learn how to do this before it's over with it would be a great side hustle as well how do you make sure everything is lined up correctly what did you use for shims

I have recon shims but I don't have ones for 4-in so I just use sheets of paper until it's tight
😮 I'm 2 days late on this one lol idk how I missed it but it seems to be the year for recones lol 😂 #teambassoutlaws
