JBL 4345 Klipsch Cornwall and Troels Gravesen The Loudspeaker 1 inspired project with Dayton drivers

This was a project, inspired by Klipsch, JBL and Troels Gravesen. I had 18 inch Dayton woofers laying around and wanted something along a Klipsch Cornwall on steroids or something. Big!!! So I started designing and looking around. Then I found the TL1 from Troels Gravesen and decided to do my own take on that design. This is it. I'm working on filters and room EQ as we speak. All in all the character of the speaker (lively, punchy, big!) comes through wahtever I do with it. To be continued......

Great job man. Those had me doing a JBL/Klipsch doubletake. Bet they knock the drywall off the walls and the horns sound crisp.

Thanks a lot! Yes they go plenty loud. 🙂Bass is pretty nice too, the simple Canon camera doesn't pick that up really.

Thanks! Dayton PA460-8, Dayton PA200-8, Dayton horn (12x12 inch) and a noname Chinese 1,75 inch titanium compresion tweeter.

Very good sound...lots told me that whatever 18" bass will do the job and the character of the sound is made by the mids

Thanks! Reflex ports are tuned to 30 Hz, most 18 inches will manage that.

I really like the aesthetic of these. Nice design and finish but still a bit of the carpenter style that keep them from looking too fancy. Exciting build. 18 inch woofers? I found some between the couch cushions last night. I'll watch for more.
