    I totally agree to leave the passport on the ship. If there is a need the ship will get it for you. Many years ago, on European cruises, you had to turn over the passport to the cruise line and the same was true for many other tours.

    • @ILikeCruiseShips
      @ILikeCruiseShips  2 года назад +1

      I remember for the European cruises you had to. For sure, leave it on the ship, and if it comes to it. the ship will recover it for you.

    We always leave our passport in our safe ( in the cabin ) / We just bring our driver ID - cruise ship card

    • @ILikeCruiseShips
      @ILikeCruiseShips  2 года назад +2

      I definatly think that's the best thing to do. then if worst comes to worst the ship could recover them for you. Russell :)

    • @y2k448
      @y2k448 2 года назад +1

      I highly disagree.....there is no guarantee the ship can/will help you....but most importantly in the event you get hurt and are transported to a hospital.....you are better off keeping it with you....In order for you to fly internationally you can not fly without it.
      In addition by making a copy of your passport does nothing for you. These countries do not accept a photocopy of a passport

  • @debbiewilson4443
    @debbiewilson4443 2 года назад +3

    We leave our passport and our CHL (which is a government form of photo ID) in the safe. We take a copy of our passport, our DL and a passport card when getting off the ship. Just want to cover all our bases, just in case. A bit redundant in the passport and passport card, CHL and DL with copies of all but better safe than sorry

    • @ILikeCruiseShips
      @ILikeCruiseShips  2 года назад +1

      taking copies seems the best thing to do really. in the event of something happening the cruise line can go to your cabin and recover them if need be. The cruise lines are very well versed in the event something would happen to a guest onboard.

    A little more confused now. But as you said no right or wrong though. I’ve been concerned when taking it on shore on cruises in case it gets lost or stolen but sometimes it’s nice to get it stamped from the country you are visiting. I’ve had cruise directors recommend taking it with you too so this is where it gets confusing. Cheers Russell....or should I say.....”Nostrovia!” ?🍻 since you’re in Russia.

      "Zdorov'ye" to you too. Thanks. Its getting too cold to drink beer here at the moment. I guess for the answer to the passport question, each to there own i think really. you can listen to 100 people and get a different answer. I think it comes down to our tolerance of "what if" really. This is my next video by the way. you can check it out a bit earlier than everyone if your online possibly. ruclips.net/video/MpGw6t9aNRo/видео.html

    The US passport is the most powerful and most sought after passport in the world. Thieves pay big bucks for a US Passport. Guard your passport everytime you carry it. Always be mindful of it were it is on you and get in the habit of checking it regularly when carrying it. If your carrying it a purse or backpack and you go into your bag for something else remember to just check and see if its still there. Be safe.

    Your video is very informative, just not sure I agree with you. Its great to make a copy to take off the ship. That could be stolen as well. Plus I'm not sure how legal a copy would be if needed to get back home. Say to the United States. Also I'm not sure if I want to rely on the ship getting my passport out of my room safe and leaving it at the port. I know many many people leave their passport on the ship and have never had a problem. Thats kinda like driving a automobile for 40 years and never an accident. Then one day you have that accident and your dead. I'm not an expert, but a couple humdred Dollars for a new passport is an easy fix. I believe I might leave the copy on the ship and also a copy at home. Just my thoughts, and those thoughts may not always be the best. No one knows whats best till it actually happens to them.

    Why do you need 2 passports?

    • @ILikeCruiseShips
      @ILikeCruiseShips  2 года назад +1

      i was born in the UK, but emigrated to Australia with my family when i was only 8. so by default became an Australian citizen. so i was entitled to passports from both countries. Travelling around the world it also makes it easier to enter certain countries. especially in Europe to have British passport.

      For a family that's a great way to keep them safe. especially in the wallet, and they also never leave our sight. I think really everyone has there own tried and true method of what is right. For me, I'd rather leave it on the ship, but that's just me. Thanks for the great idea. i don't actually have one of these water wallets, i need to look them up. Russell :)
