    "It isn't really the way that looks natural to me." "This actually looks the way a coral or tree would grow."
    This is something I have believed for a long time and it is a pet peeve of mine to see rock chucked in a tank with out this consideration. Good to hear another intelligent aquarist speaking on this topic. Keep up the good videos BRS. You guys rock.

    I am doing a 120 tank and I want to use dead rock because it's cheaper and safer, but im not sure if I really want to do it because I love the purple algae.. how long before it gets cover in that purple algae and is there anything I can do to speed up the process?

    I wouldn't have thought you could get a balanced and stable small base like you have. I wouldn't have even considered anything other than laying them over sideways. However, you did a perfect job. They look great!

      For the pillar, I have a large piece I want to cut bottom and stand up just like your first example. Do you just stand up and its good, or do you glue to bottom of tank? I'm just scared it will fall over.

    I want to start a saltwater reef tank....Ive looked at soooo many tank setups ...Im more confused that when i started,,,,,Are some of the complete kits/nano tanks worthwhile? Could u recommend a setup in 55 gal range?....as far as quality componets ? Thanx in advance...

      ***** Thanks for the comprehensive reply. I ordered 75lbs of reef saver over the Turkey weekend for my 180 i am going to set up in January. I will get some Pukani to mix in with it... ;o)

    Marco rocks are the same porosity?

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  3 года назад +1

      Pukani rock will definitely be more porous. Unfortunately, Pukani is also no longer available, so unless you can find it from another hobbyist tearing down a tank, Marco is what's most commonly used these days and works well.

    Keep in mind that the smaller the body of water; the harder the 'work'.
    I read the best piece of advice I think I ever have about 6 months ago- "You're not keeping fish; you're keeping water".
    Keeping the water chemistry stable is a huge part of keeping fish and corals/inverts happy and alive, and keeps your tank looking clean.
    I'm just building a tank setup that will triple my water volume. Going from a nano (55l) to a tank (93l) and sump (50l).
    Feel free to PM me, as I was you 2 years ago.

    Some people make artificial rock using a mixture of concrete and sand/crushed coral. If you add a little vomit to the mix you can even simulate Puke-ani. LOL.

      I've had a local pet shop tell me that without having at least a couple of live rock that you can't bring the dry rock or pukani to live because once it's dead it's dead is this true?

    You can make your own rock using a mixture of aragonite and concrete. If you vomit in it you'll make puke-kani.
