@@paulpv7 Then listen to the GH3 mix, bass level is fine, no compression, no bullshit since it's the multi-tracks put together without any weird post-processing.
@Shallex well when you have as deep and diverse of a track listing as Metallica, it's bound to happen. I just named the two songs i thing are great that get literally zero attention
My two cents: The inclusion of the rising note from the original "Unforgiven" is a nice touch. The piano sounds much the same until the bass note (0:15): deep, warm, and much more substantial. The double-bass (cello?) and horns are slightly louder, too. The gentle cymbal-tapping is somewhat fainter than before; it also shimmers, now, in ways it didn't, in Rick's version (1:12). The steel strings (1:20) have been panned to the left; like the cymbals, they carry and resonate further. The snare is deeper, the bass more immediate. Though still present, the strings swim in the sound of the band, themselves. It has a spacey-but-welcome feel (the trill at 1:36); the kick drum (1:38) delivers a good, solid thump-now, and throughout. I'm loving the changes to the drums, in particular. Gone is the cymbals' static hiss. The snare (1:44) is less of a garbled smack, breathing nicely when struck. The rhythm guitars buzz warmly and with less treble. The entire band sounds full, not flat. The song sounds quieter, if simply from the lack of constant digital clipping. James no longer shouts to be heard (2:16); he sings. Nor does Lars drown him out. I love this. There's some actual dimension to Lars, now. Consider his fill, at 2:33: Versus purely being snare, I can hear the cymbal on top, the bass on bottom, and the snare in between. It's like a drum sandwich. Delicious. Another plus: how audible and clear his hi-hat is, during the chorus (2:35). Things go on; I can make out "new" details. Before, these were much too loud; now they surprise me. Lars' drum roll (3:29), for example, sounds almost behind James. Lars doesn't storm, he contributes. He's quieter, but still reverberates all around the listener. As a result, the strings are easier to hear, but must continue to play over the regular band. At 4:35, there's a clear distinction between the steel guitars, panned to the right, and the bass, planned to the left (the original master made everything bleed together, sounding almost muddy). While the "volume knob" (4:50) is softer, all instruments contribute from various directions. Feeding into a gradual crescendo, I can hear the cello, moaning under the guitar knob like a gentle mime. All of this, in the original, would have been nearly impossible to hear. The toms no longer clip during Lars' signature drumbeat (5:15), and I can actually hear Rob, plugging away on his bass. Lars sneaks in a few pick-up notes (5:27); these are welcome-less of a sucker punch and more of a reel to suck the listener in: One moment, we're in a tunnel, walking forward; then, a pair of doors open, thrown wide to reveal a giant, well-lit room. Everyone's playing all together and it sounds great. What sounds like power chords from Rob (5:36) are much, much quieter. I can still hear them; they just do not deafen (to which I can only blame Rick Rubin for). James' voice fades into Kirk's double-stop, and then everyone cuts loose. However, because the volume has been turned down, I can actually hear more. I can pick out Lars' "shimmying" snare fills (5:55-5:57); I can hear, this time, how the contrapuntal refrain is played by the orchestra (Kirk is busy playing the solo). These are audible; so is any other detail I could care to mention. Not only can I hear them; they're layered. The toms boom, the bass pounds, and James sits atop it all, crooning like some kind of pirate. While far from my favorite Metallica track, that's a good thing in this case. It shows how much you've improved on the original. The "brick" wall-of-sound effect is gone; in its place, there's actually a chance to rock out, but also to appreciate the music. If your take on this song sounds so good, I eagerly await remasters for tracks like "That Was Just Your Life," "Broken, Beat and Scarred," and "My Apocalypse"! Also, I'd be curious to hear you remix/remaster "Spit Out the Bone" or "Moth into Flame" from Hardwired to Self-destruct. These latter-day albums desperately need a boost, and you're just the man for the job.
I would love to hear “Now That we’re dead” remastered.

Pretty good mix, but I would personally make the distorted solos wider, they sound very raw and completely mono, which in my opinion is wasted potential, especially since things like the melodic guitar at 7:20 have some width to them. The kick high end also has a bit of an annoying resonance and the bass is slightly muddy around 150hz. 2:40 for example it's quite audible. It's overpowering a little in the low end compared to the kick.
I found out just cause I was looking for a version of "For whom the bells toll" that had the long ending instead of just fading out, but I found so much more on this channel
My two cents: The drums are hit with a stick (wood?) which i think it's good, and eco-friendly. The guitar it's surely plugged in the correct way to the power source, which i strongly believe it's electricity. There is someone playing another instrument, i strongly believe this but i have no way to confirm. If you turn up the volume of your speakers, the general loudness of your room will increase. TL;DR It's good.

I honestly think… this is James’ *vocal* opus magnum. Just the, vibrato on “forever” & “treasure” is just fucking impossible to duplicate. But this very track, is the one I have never properly been able to imitate.
