I just graduated in may, and was lucky enough to get into a program with a Big4 where they pay for me to get my masters while working with them which is great, but its a pay cut 😫 so i want a part time job as well but its just so much, even for just a year.
Hi! Similar to you, I want to keep my options open. I chose Accounting as my major for a few months then realized I wasn’t 100% sure Accounting is what I wanted to do. So now I’m looking at general business or business administration degrees. I was wondering do you know the main difference between a general business degree and a business administration degree? I noticed that the business degrees I’ve been looking at do allow you to pick a concentration/specialty. Do you have any recommendations for what concentration I should choose? My entire work history has been in banking, customer service and administrative assistant roles. I did just get a new job working from home as a Claims Specialist for a financial institution. I know my end goal is to complete a college degree program before I’m 30 years old (I’m 27 now) and I know I like working in administrative/operations/back office roles. Do you have any advice to give me as far as which career path to follow? I think one day I would like to pursue an Accounts Payable or Receivable job but I’m not sure. I just want to be able to have a choice between a variety of decent paying office jobs.
Thank you for sharing. Please which school did you attend for your grad school? Do you need any work experience to get an MBA in accounting. UMGC offers a master in accounting & financial management planning for accounting student. Please do you if it’s an MBA program? Or could be considered as an MBA?
Hey sis. No you don't need work experience for an MBA but it comes in handy to have because of the assignments. Lots of the assignments ask you to use personal work history/experiences. Masters in Accounting & MBA are completely different so it depends on your end goal. Masters in accounting will get you a CPA but thats it. An MBA will get you managerial titles quicker.
@@gisseleanyi5571 I went to Texas A&M Corpus Christi campus for my mba because it had a fully online program. I would search for mba with accounting concentrations. That’s what I did and then found my program. GWU, American university, University of Maryland are good universities in your area.
I know this is an older video but I dont have a background in Accounting and I am considering a Masters in Accounting to pivot into a career into Accounting. I was accepted into a very well know Accounting program but I dont want to be in debt unless its worth it. Since I dont have any experience in Accounting, would a Masters be a good idea?
Thank you so much for this video! I’m not as anxious anymore and have a better understanding of what to expect.
Glad this helped.
