Lots of critics on here, I’ve built prob 50-60 Honda engines, and most of my builds have been aftermarket upper kits, and my boys ride them to death, no smoke, no rattled, carry on bro
@@vesselpowersports gotcha I was just wondering because I’ve always been told to get it to top dead center and then adjust…we’ll i guess I just learned something new
Great video, very informative but damn bro do you even believe in Torque specs. I cringed 😬 the whole time you were sending it with the impact. And you put way to much trust in them ring specs in that china kit. But again over all very informative.
Honda and even the cheap-o aftermarket ring kits have a dot or a letter on the end of the ring end gap that indicates 'UP' on both upper compression rights. You should make a note of this because the rings are minutely shaped differently. Be sure to check next time. And.... what's with all these u-tubers spraying gasket goop on Honda gaskets? Was there goop on the gasket when you tore it apart? NO. Why do you think it needs goop on reassembly? Oh.... I get it.... cuz you went cheap-o and bought some knock off from China.
All about your riding , I have 34,000 miles 2014 rancher 420 hard miles in rural Alaska kids beating the hell out of it , wide open ice road trips. And just now it’s starting to lose compression and the front end it tanked !!
@@sgtXsasquatchX yup, i have a 2017 rancher 420 with about 32,000 miles which i put in by myself and i do wide open throttle for going though snow and muds still running strong.

Do yk where I could get a top end kit for a 2021 Honda TRX520FE2 Foreman 4x4 ES EPS
By aftermarket you mean like Chinese? Niche?
So when you adjust your valves it doesn't need to be top dead center? One a t a time like your video implies?
Explained very well
What’s the link to the top end for a 2018 honda rancher 420 wanna make sure I’m getting the fright one
I pushed my piston in and it won’t come out how do I get it out again I want to take the c clips out but can’t get the piston back up
Is there supposed to be a dowel for the water jacket? In between crankcase and cylinder
2 total for the jug, left top corner and bottom right corner if memory serves me right
Great videos man
Thanks!
Why didn’t you set the motor to top dead center before adjusting valves
That’s the proper way, but it’s how I used to do it on my old Datsun, and just have always continued like this
@@vesselpowersports gotcha I was just wondering because I’ve always been told to get it to top dead center and then adjust…we’ll i guess I just learned something new
Did it work good?
When I tried doing mine the crank spun and piston dropped.. what would cause that?
What do you mean dropped? Piston moves with the crank
Looking for a rebuild kit for 2016 rubicon. With the jug. Any leads
How much does a top end rebuilt cost on a Honda 2019 rancher 420 ? What should I pay
$200 in parts, Cheap if you can do it yourself!
@@vesselpowersports where you recommend getting a top end from
do you have to put the piston top dead center before you put the valve cover on
Personally I would so it’s just easier but because this has lifters and not and overhead cam I’d say no
What kind of exhaust is that
HMF
Are these OEM parts or aftermarket?
aftermarket
How did you set the rings like the orientation of the rings
The manual says 33 degrees of each other

The rings need to be properly gapped and orientated correctly.

No Torque Wrench = No Bueno
After about 15-20 topends you get used to it. My torque wrench only goes down to 50lbs so I have to rent one
Hondaboats torque is 29 pounds
