Great interview. Intelligent, fun and heart warming discussion. Itzchak Perelman is really an exceptional human being. His sucess has never affected his modesty, openess and candid heart. He's the type of person you can't but love and admire. One of the finest man of the juish tribe.

Thank you Rabbi. I have loved his playing since his debut with the Boston Symphony. He is much more than a great great artist, he is in the highest sense of the word „Mensch.“ Boy do we need more of his kind.

Such a fun interview! I’m a pianist. If I could play any other instrument it’d be the violin. He makes it look effortless..I also have synesthesia..I see color and notation with music...I would’ve asked him what he sees when he hears music..I’m surprised no one ever asks famous musicians that..I loved his ‘Rejoice! Concert on great permanences...and of course I knew of him from Schindler’s List..I am of some Jewish heritage...Polish Jewish, Bohemian Jewish and some French Jewish..all a recent surprise! He makes me proud of that part of my heritage. I wish it hadn’t been so hidden...

Great interview! In my opinion it is not right to distinguish an artist as the "greatest living". It is more just to judge him (or her) as "one of...". But aside from that, I have really enjoyed this interview. It has made me revindicate my thoughts and perception about Perlman. It has also erased my somewhat negative feelings I had about him. Age does a lot of good to some people. This is the case. Congrats and thanks to both.

As much as I love itzhak Perlman, I have to say he has no true conception of how lucky he was to have had the right parents, the right teacher, and the incredibly amazing right opportunities, _ALL OF WHICH_ are critical to a child musician to develop his/her potential. If any one of those things is not present, a career does not happen, and all of it is by pure chance. Not all parents are supportive of their gifted children, and very few children have excellent teachers who will advocate for them, bc teaching is often the last thing those adults ever wanted to do. If those two elements let a child down, there is no opportunity that can make up for it. I know this to my own cost, although my love of music could never be quenched by a thoroughly unsupportive mother and inadequate frustrated teachers. Then, Perlman has been so incredibly lucky in his life partner, with whom he obviously shares a deep, unconditional love based on all of the right attributes. He and his wife are so right for each other, and it’s obvious that they feel such great respect for one another, as well as love. I don’t think Perlman even now understands how lucky he was, and IS, and how lucky WE are to be able to listen to his tremendous musical gifts whenever we like!

Why is the interviewer so heavy? Maestro Perlman is such a joy and allegro kind. Golub interrupts and stops the rhythm of their conversation. Pity.

I agree. Trump has major flaws. But, he tried to help our nation and accomplished many good programs. I’ll bet that now, 2021, jmany wish they hadn’t voted for the turkeys who are tearing the U. S. apart. Some even want Sharia Law here. Anyway I genuinely admire Mr. Perlman.
