Wow .... what is the cycling ( duration ) time of the race ? Is this pro level event ? I never biking over 60 km in my lifetime, however I am interested to join 2018 kom challenge.
Tour of the Dragon travels 268 km over 4 mountain passes before finishing in Thimphu town square. It’s one of the toughest one-day mountain bike races in the world.
fantastic roads, great video, epic challenge.....but quite annoying that every 3'' the images changes with a black screen in between. It would be better to add a smooth transition :-)
I'm booking a flight to Taiwan. Looks epic! If I was to do this unofficially when there is not an event on are there plenty of shops/cafes to stop for food and water?
I don't recall every km of the climb, but there was a 7-11 about 20kms in, another local store about 50kms in, and just before the final 10kms - the toughest, one or two stores. Take a gander on Google Street View - I am pretty certain the climb has been mapped, that should help you a bit.
I use an older GoPro 3 Hero + Black edition with a Brunton all-day battery. The rear is a standard GoPro Hero4 Silver edition. In both cases, I turn the cameras on and off regularly and record stuff I think may be interesting in video. When I produce the video, I chop that footage down again. Editing takes the most amount of time. BTW, I shot the video in 60FPS for both cameras but forgot to crunch it in 60FPS... thankfully, 30FPS still looks pretty good.
That's a personal choice, but I ran a White Industries MR30 crankset with 46 / 30 chainrings (I was riding a cyclocross bike with road tyres)... rear cassette was an 11-32. Honestly, I really wanted an 11-36 for the final 10kms. There is a 27% grade in the final kilometre, just when you're completely smashed! It may be a simple affair for the pro riders, but I'm a regular guy who lives most of the year in Florida. I had no mountains to train on and did my best with smaller gears! Do not underestimate how difficult this climb is, particularly towards the end.
I really wish more cyclocross bikes come stock with sub compact crankset and bigger cassette, this way I don't have to spend extra money for buying another pair of cranks and cassette, most cyclocross bikes comes with 46/36 and 11/28
You do realize that finding copyright free music is difficult, right? Instead of complaining, how about linking to some music that is copyright free that would suit such a video?
My legs hurt watching that. Nice ride.

Changed how I do transitions in later videos, thanks for the feedback.
bravo. thinking of doing it next year.

Gravel Cyclist thanks very much. Kudos to you for completing it
Could you tell me what music this is? Your videos are great.
Revelry by Milkman - ruclips.net/video/woRYQz9-Vmg/видео.html - I did a little modification of the tune to extend it some. Thanks for the feedback!
Boondoggle Smith
Thanks .. brings back memories and pain
Indeed!
Awesome...😎😎😎
thats a lot of work!
thanks fo the video!!!
epicc
This was great! Mt Mitchell is now just a roller lol
Haha I have ridden Mt Mitchell... yeah, that is how it feels after this beast!
I'm a Taiwanese, welcome to Taiwan. Actually, only about 40% cyclists can finish the race of Taiwan Kom Challenge. It's really difficult.
Nice! This makes me happy knowing I finished it on my first attempt with no proper training. I live in Florida, no mountains around here!
Jom can we officially bill you as a "climber" now? LOL!
All jokes aside 👍👍 for taking this crazy challenge!
Haha. I thank my meagre ability to ride long tempo distances as the reason I finished this event under the time cut!
That was awesome, thx for sharing that!
Your video looks so stable... how do you do it?
BTW , I use GoPro 4 Black+Silver
I use GoPro4 Black cameras, but with K-Edge mounts. They are the key to stability. Good luck!
Thank you so much for your kind response ! it's so useful to me.
which cameras do you use? they've lasted the whole ride!!

Someone has to carry the weight uphill haha.
I think I would have a bike that has a triple to deal with such ridiculous steep grades.
Great music
Awesome!
That was cool!
what is the minimum number of tooth back and front for this type of terrain??

Agreed! This is why I always buy a frame / fork and build it to my own specifications.
Pretty cool
Such an awesome event. Pity the clip is lacking in detailed information and frankly a bit boring. Sorry mate!
Perhaps you should ride the event, make a video about it, and show me where I got it wrong.
Transfagarasan... google it.
some riders definitely had the wrong gears for the climb
For sure!
Cool!
W.....o......W!!!!!!
Wow
I hope the cyclists get a ride down in the cars. Descending can be crazy dangerous.
Yes, the riders are taken down in cars / vans. No descending on event day.
Absolutely enjoyed this video but the music has to go.

Supermen and superwomen
Music is annoying...
Cool idea. How about you ride the event, film it, produce a video and apply a soundtrack to show me where I went wrong.
