I keep seeing those Conte sets in TK Maxx, I'll probably buy a set now. I like Sanguine drawing from what ive seen of it. I got put off Conte due to owning the black wood coloured pencils, they were total rubbish.
@@ArtParischannel no that's my point, not all Conte products are good, some are total rubbish, especially the pencils. This is why I'm saying this set looks like a good set from your usage. However some genuine Conte coloured pencils are as hard as stone with very little pigment and are useless for any kind of drawing.

For sure, the quality of Conte since 1795 make the difference for artists and it's a reference now. Enjoy!

The surface is the most important, and I can't find any where that lets me know what surface to use crayon sketching crayon on??

It's the same colors for both so you can use the pencils for details and the sticks for large areas. Enjoy!
