The State governments should also be held accountable for lack of vision on food security in the country. Mechanized farming should is the only way for mass production of food for any civilized country. The Federal Government can only assist the state government in providing the essential. Nigeria lack packaging of food products which leads to food waste in the country. The country needs large processing factory in every state to reduce the waste in food production, cold rooms, storage rooms, etc. Thank You.

The so called speech were just vacuous pie-in-the-sky words. Empty words devoid of any systematic and realistic plans behind them.
It is arguably the most depressing presidential speech ever given in Nigeria. Among other things, it lacked actionable empathy for people who have been visited with unprecedented hardship by his irresponsible and not-well-thought-out policies. It also never really addressed any of the key issues for which people are protesting.
This rambling, called a speech, was annoyingly flat and dead on arrival!
There is no need for any dialogue, let the govt swift to actions immediately. How can we be buying fuel at 850 per litre in a country that is blessed with crude oil? The bogus allowance being collected by the so-called law makers is senseless. Let him act fast,to safeguard his personal image.

The comments from SAN Falana who is the lawyer that represents the Take It Back Movement is not unexpected. If he had assisted the group to come up with demands that require immediate solutions, perhaps the president would have touch on them during his address to the nation. The Senior advocate should go back and review the 15 demands made by his group and tell the nation which one of the required immediate action of the government with ten days that is set for the protest. The majority of the protesters and the ordinary person on the street were concerned about hunger, note getting rid of the Nigerian constitution, abolishing the Senate, cutting the hours of the members of the national assembly members to half time etc. These are all demands that are not within the power of the president to0 decide or even promise to Nigerian. In addressing the hunger the president outlined what the administration is doing with regards to food shortage in the country and what he will continue to do. In fact looking at the fifteen demands made by the group hunger was never directly mentioned. The reaction from the PDP was all expected. In governments around the world in a situation like this while criticizing ang disagreeing with the ruling party, it helps for the opposition party to voice out to the public how they would handle for example the hardship in the country. They saw the demands made by the protesters therefore focusing on the fact that the president did not address the demands, they did not suggest what the president should have said to address the issues. It is not known if the demands were presented to PDP as a party before the protest. With regards to Wole Soyinka's comment he is right disagree with the security agency using life bullets. The use of rubber bullet or tear gassing only occurs when the protesters fail to obey instructions given them by the security agencies assign to protect the protesters. It is against the law to resist any instruction given by the police. When the protesters were limited to a location for the protest there was a reason for it and if the protests go beyond that point and they are asked to retreat and they refuse, the next step that is expected according the the crowd control procedures is the use of teargas. When a policeman is killed or injured in the process, it only escalate the violence. The protesters were not screened at the protest ground, therefore any time the policeman perceive any threat to their lives, the first instinct is to protect their lives. Protests do not necessarily mean that protesters should be running from one end of the street to the other, that is safety hazard.
