I like the way she uses dynamics to keep things interesting, varying her volume, tone, and attack. You get the feeling that she plays with joy, and that's mighty cool.
Chantel had dropped ‘Help Me’ from her live set shortly before I started going to her gigs. After three years of gentle persuasion from me she finally agreed to play it at The 100 Club Gig after I’d pointed out that it WAS part of London BLUES Week after all! Jake and Ollie had NEVER played it until the soundcheck earlier that evening, Chantel had just asked them to have a listen to it over their Christmas break! She told the audience afterwards that I’d been nagging her to play it again and that she’d forgotten just how much fun it was! I think she makes that pretty obvious! You’ll see her cast a concerned backward glance during the solo......what you don’t see is her guitar lead caught on her guitar stand and how close she came to bringing her Strat and her Taylor acoustic clattering to the ground!
She really is a stunning Musician as well as one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet.
Killer song! I am getting to be new fan and having to play catch-up with this and other songs. Thanks for sharing this and the others.
