Fun Fact: The fairies in this sequence, named “dewdrop fairies”, were animated by Les Clark, the same person who animated Tinker Bell in Peter Pan. Their flight patterns are based on the flight patterns of hummingbirds, and they were painted with a special translucent paint
The music is so eerie but BEAUTIFUL! It makes me think of being at home alone on Christmas eve at night the house completely dark with nothing but a fire in the fireplace and the tree with the stockings hanging from the mantle with the big mantle clock ticking.
Joshua Hawkins Thinking of this an adult makes me tear up... I remember how mesmerized I was when I saw this. I'd rewind and replay over and over again.
this is what the children should be watching true visions of art! not this new junk that they're pumping into their minds. this animation is beautiful. thank you CLASSIC disney!!
These creatures are covered in light and I always wondered what it would be like to live as they do without fear or worry or care completely apart from mortal needs, concerns and problems, knowing that as the mortals age, get sick and die, I will still be covered in light and remain as I have everbeen for uncountable ages to come!
Combining music & art together was one of Disney's most pure genius ideas ever! I always watched but never noticed as a kid, but now, I love everything about this movie!
One of the best films of all time. So exquisite that you can’t take your eyes off of it due to it’s beautiful animation. And the fact that this was hand drawn before the exist of computers is amazing. A flawless film in animation and cinema history.
This reminds me of my childhood. In first grade and earlier, a music teacher would come in and play songs and dance short little skits to them, like one time we pretended to be witches and warlocks to another tune. This one we pretended to be snowflakes, or fairies. Back when school supported imagination and was fun. Now it's all about sitting down and chopping stories into bits to analyze hidden meanings, never just enjoying or imagining stories.
As a child I remember seeing this on the christmas disney special. It's wonderful to bring back such fond memories and the innocence of childhood fantasies!
Thank you for showing. That I am in AWE. I would listen the Nutcracker Suite first when I was young, and "Stereo equipment" was just at being invented. This, and some other music, that I listened to, from a simple, cheap discplayer burnt deeply, into my brain. It is PRECIOUS.
This song is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard! It's so atmospheric! It reminds me of a city at night with lamps of the streets being shown! This is pure awesome!
This song is the most beautiful song I have ever heard! For me, this song depicts the mystery and beauty of the night scattered with numerous stars! So awesome!
Omg i finally found this. My teacher used to play us this during our sleep time in preschool (i was about 5 or 6) and told us to imagine this kind of scenario and to tell our imagination. It was beautiful this song and im not sure but i think the video too. Btw im 22 now.. Time flies
Oh my gosh, I love this movie! I love the music therein and I love Disney! *ballet-dance* Fantasia was and is forever my Favorite children's film. It is so pretty and beautiful and... I don't know. I love it simply. ♥
unbelievable artistry---and Mr. Disney's hand one ventures is guiding the whole thing---he thought with the soul of the child--most of us lose that as we grow older--I mean look at all those fanstic, whimsical details--one fairy drinking out of flower, another waking up and spilling magic out of her wand onto a spiders web.
This is my vision of what life should be. Happy, mysterious, quiet, with many lights, sparks, fairies and magic... Don't grow up too fast guys, remember how life can be wonderful with some magic.
Walt Disney was eating dinner with Leopold one night and they got to talking about The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Walt was saying how great it would be to animate Mickey Mouse in an adaptation of that piece and Leopold was saying how great it would be to conduct it. Fantasia is born Fantasia is #58 on the American Film Institute's List of 100 Greatest Movies in the last 100 years
The only bit of music from the Nutcracker suite that they missed out on this is the nutcracker title music that they play at the beginning (the Simpsons parodied it). If they make a Fantasia 3 (which I do believe they will due to the first two being extremely popular) they should have the nutcracker sute title music (for that they could have a circus with animals dancing), the ride of the valkyries (for that they could have mermaids watching the birds and flying vechicles and the people in the flying vechicles do not notice the mermaids) and some music from Mozart (they could have things like beautiful gardens growing, caterpillars turning into butterflies and seasons changing such as they could have spring changing to summer, summer changing into autumn and autumn changing into winter and winter changing into spring again
finally i found it ! ive saw this video a lot of years ago.. maybe 10, 12,13 or even more ! ..and one day i lost it some times i usually try to find it again, but with no succes ..until today ! ✨
Its sad that this kind of animation will never be duplicated again.
Don't lose hope if Klaus and loving Vincent could get made these days there's a chance
AI will learn to replicate it now

Makes me remember all the times I went to a Xmas Eve matinee of the Nutcracker ballet
While tiny elves that live in the walls party in the dim christmas tree light
Is tchaikovsky 😉
It’s amazing that this is handrawn
Yea, once upon a time, man actually did organic work
Through in some acid or shrooms & bam! you good to go
hello fellow cuban
Yeah man, it’s totally nuts. I am an artist and I know the sheer volume of effort this must have taken. It’s completely amazing.
Just remember, this was way before 3D animation was even a thing
This is the most beautiful song ever wriiten in my eyes.
I cannot express how awesome Tchaikovski was.
He's just uber.
Seriously...the creative ideas for the Nutcracker segment of "Fantasia" were nothing less than genius.
The Sugar Plum Faries light up the night. This is Disney at its classic best. Superb! I absolutely loved it.
😀
My Great Grandfather was the Art Director on this. So amazing I have this in my blood.
+Joshua Hawkins That's amazing.
Joshua Hawkins wow! That's totally amazing!
Joshua Hawkins how wonderful !
Joshua Hawkins Thinking of this an adult makes me tear up... I remember how mesmerized I was when I saw this. I'd rewind and replay over and over again.
I'm pretty sure you got white blood cells in your blood. Not fairies.
this is what the children should be watching true visions of art! not this new junk that they're pumping into their minds. this animation is beautiful. thank you CLASSIC disney!!
I think you’re being generous saying “minds”.
The will for adventure and fantasy this song gives me is crazy.. Fantasia... It was made decades ago... Still flawless and timeless

Probably the first tune i heard as a kid, strikes a weird cord in my mind seeing this again, such nostalgia i love it :)
One of the greatest pieces of all time. Magical.

Disney, y u no make more Fantasia movies???
OnioDerAmBesten he probably just meant a new movie similar to fantasia.
It would not be as great as the original.
They didn't do well in the box office.
Ohh, everything's so sparkly!
Walt Disney thank you for making the best movies characters and theme parks may you Rest In Peace ☮️
My great grandfather is the person animated this. Merry Christmas everyone!
I have a hard time believing you.
@@normalperson659 I have a hard time believing your disbelief of him.
You left this comment twice under different accounts.

Only Fantasia can make spiderwebs look so beautiful LOL

Ah 240p, my arch-nemesis.
Here we go again
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing the enchantment! Happy Spring! 💚
If you really think about it, Fantasia is probably one of the best movies ever to watch while smoking weed.
legion For that reason it had a resurgence in the late 1960's.
LSD ACID SHROOMS
I don't smoke weed. But best movie
* True & Walt Disney would've hated that! He even banned guys with long hair from Disneyland ♣
lol so cool lol lol not.
I LOVE this movie :)
It's reminds me of being a little kid, I miss those days!
Fantasia is one of THE movies of my childhood, haven't seen it for years but I remember it well. Love it.
This and waltz of the flowers are my favourite pieces of classical music! :)
Expressive! I really love this timeless masterpiece!
pure genius--with a warmth, sparkle and even humor that current animation can't seem to match.
I would have to say Tchaikovsky is my favorite composer. This & Waltz of the Flowers are beautiful.
Its snowing here in NYC right now and this just makes it even better. Feeling the Christmas Spirit with this song
Whenever I am feeling the weight of the world too heavy upon my shoulders, I listen to this and escape to a time long ago, and long forgotten 😊

So much magic and mystery in this sugar plum fairy song....really gets the imagination going...
This movie and Sailor Moon are my reasons for pursuing my dream as an animator. I'm now sharing this wonderful magic that is Disney with my son.
My mom loves fairies, because they're so cute. Thank you for 🤔 of her.
My Auntie tooo.. I'm sending this to my cousin xxx

Disney brilliantly used public domain classical music as soundtrack for a fantastic animated feature film! ☺

This song is beautiful and magical but at the same time has an eerie ring to it. If you listen to it at night it creeps the hell out of you.

Ein wunderschönes Video!😊❤
This is pure magical delight for kids of all ages.
I was looking for this song for so long!!!
Wow!!!!
Thank you! :D
if i'm ever blessed to have kids i'm going to place this for them while inside of their mother's womb. its just too perfect.
wooooooo...so beautiful sound!! i'll love this 4eva....
Aún con toda la tecnología digital de ahora no se lograría esa "magia" de estos dibujos animados. Simplemente hermosos.
the tempo for this piece is absolutely sublime and magical. this is my favorite part of fantasia.
A person is capable of doing and thinking great things while listening to this....
this song is so beautiful, and i especially love the fairies! Great job disney!
i LOVE this movie!! :D when i was a child i watched it like a million times every day! XD
This is really fascinating. I like the sugar plum joint. I remember how it moved me as child
Oh, I saw this on Saturday for my birthday at the Hollywood Bowl! Those musicians are fantastic; it sounded like a recorded soundtrack.
@Popcircle24 That's the bass clarinet that is giving you the 'shivers' --its nice offset to the mysterious celesta with its bell tones.
The motions of the fairies control me.
How gentle and wonderful they are.
i been searching for soo long now i finally found this epic melody which i know from my childhood.. omg awesome! *happy* :)
this music is magical, fantastic and very peaceful. It is simply amazing
i am certain Tchaikovsky had a dream before he conceives this piece of art in his brilliant mind.
this was one of my favorite movie as a kid. I remember asking my mom to play this on the VHS everyday or almost. She was tired sometimes
very cool, maybe need to see Fantasia again, a big thanx! : )
One of the most famous pieces of ALL time, and it hasn't even reached 1 million views... that's shameful....
merry Christmas btw this song is a masterpiece
i love this so much...it has something magical
Brings back good old memories of playing Yoshi's Story as a kid. Good old days. :)
Man there is just something about the quiet lights in the night....a dreamscape world if u may i dont know how to say it but magical
i love it! i listen to it while doing my homework. its so peaceful and makes me want to float away.
When I see fireflies at night, I think of this song and this scene;)
grew up watching Disney's Fantasia.....love it still :)
Love this classic
SO BEAUTIFUL ....TY,TY,TY......
such a classic!!!!
finally i found it !
ive saw this video a lot of years ago.. maybe 10, 12,13 or even more !
..and one day i lost it
some times i usually try to find it again, but with no succes
..until today ! ✨
Such mastery of color, design, movement and character. Those artists were so in command of their skills. I worked on Fantasia 2000 and it was a mess.
@violetgirl1996 That was also in Fantasia, with Mickey and the brooms. It was called The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
Oh, that's a good dose of childhood, how to discover and use the very secret of life! This is the way to turn back the time...
@MissMagix9 i hope you get to go and see a ballet someday...they are WONDERFUL in person!!!
