there are! theres a handful of well known ones, like Wren Blae Zimmerman, Nicki Watson, and Lissa Bachner, but because of liability theres definitely a shortage of trainers willing to teach it to the blind at a beginner level, or trainers that have horses they would trust to take care of a blind rider. Just have to find the right one! theres also plenty of therapeutic riding facilities all over the country that regularly teach the basics to people with varying levels of disability, those would probably be the best place for Molly to start, as theyre going to have the best resources and training to teach someone disabled, as well as have the best knowledge and horses to keep her safe. Generally their horses are better screened for temperament and trainability, trained more precisely, and the trainers at therapeutic facilities are more hands on, in place to catch or pull a rider safely in an emergency, versus a regular training facility that are generally more along the lines of standing in the center while the rider is off on their own.

@@sngray11 I rode competitively for 20 years and I could definitely understand why certain trainers would turn the opportunity down, just based on not feeling equipped to teach a disabled rider, not even for lack of caring or wanting to be able to be adaptive, it’s often more of an “I don’t have a horse I would feel comfortable putting that person on right now”. But the best trainers I had always recommended other trainers or facilities that would be equipped to handle specific needs of a rider instead of just turning them away. Like I was a trainers assistant for a while and there was always a discussion about new students on whether they needed more help and whether we could provide that, or if there was a better horse if they were really hesitant or needed something different. It baffles me that a facility wouldn’t make those considerations and direct anyone interested to a more capable trainer for their level or with horses that would better suit their needs if they weren’t comfortable catering to their needs with the resources they have.

She had lots of equestrian activities when she was younger, so the muscle memory should help. Maybe we’ll see her jumping rails one day.
The bit about the need to finding things you can do when you are losing your sight really spoke to me. My mum is legally registered as partially sighted , at the moment she feels like she is between the blind world and the sighted world and as she lost her sight she lost so much of her independence and she got really down. Now 15 years into her sight loss 'journey' she is slowly finding more things she can do. She was learning keyboard before her sight deteriorated and she could no longer read the music, at first she gave up but now she is learning songs by ear using audiobooks created by the RNIB here in England and doing better for it. I started following your channel because it helps me understand the world my Mum is entering and it helps with that but I kept watching because your content is so engaging. Thanks for doing what you do and bringing us all along for the ride xx
I know it is not really close to your level but as someone with really bad dyslexia any time I am able to read a paragraph with no confusion or stuttering is always amazing.
I really really loved this video. Maybe one of my favorites you've ever posted. Surfing is such a beautiful sport/activity and the fact that you were able to learn from a fellow blind person must have felt so empowering. I can't wait to see more from this series. Congratulations!!
As a disabled gal with a mobility disability that affects my coordination and balance, I want you to start skating so I can live vicariously thru you!!! You're so naturally confident and good at it!
You and Pete had so much chemistry! This is one of my favourite videos of yours Molly! It was so fun to watch you experience something so thrilling. You did amazing!!
Molly I LOVED this video!!! Pete and Nisha (and all of Pete's other friends) were incredible teachers. Also Molly you picked up both skateboarding and surfing SO QUICKLY!! I've tried to get the hang of them both over the years and definitely have had more success on the surfing than skating front but I was just so impressed with how quickly you picked things up because I know plenty of people (myself included) who it took many many surf/skating sessions until they were as good as you managed to be in one. Also I loved Pete's narration voices and the talks the two of you had about how surfing gives you the freedom to move uninhibited as a blind person. I can just tell this series is going to be amazing! (more stuff with Pete please!!!)
I joined the army cadets when I was 13. I'm autistic and that was my dream. I sucked at a lot of it at first, and I had to work harder than everyone else to be less proficient than they were. It was the best thing I ever did and I don't know where I would be without it. It made me grow up and it taught me so much, like beyond how to use a rifle safely, move in the feild and march.
I am loving this series. I almost cried. The conversation between you and Pete about the freedom you feel when you get surf/ski, was profound. I appreciate you sharing your experience with us. I have 2 sons with cognitive disabilities, which are very different from your disability. But learning from you, and Squirmy&Grubs (whom I found through you), has really helped me support my kids better. You are making the world a better place.
I am sighted but as someone who has always ran from situations that put me in control and left me reliant on my own abilities I completely understand that feeling of freedom as I'm just now exploring that experience within myself. This video was incredibly inspiring to me to go out and seek that freedom and to be thankful that I do have my vision. Thank you both and your teams for this!
I’m only 12 minutes in and I’m already hooked on your new series! I’m so impressed with how you move on the road boards- I tried skateboarding when I was 18 and dislocated my shoulder my first time out! I love your confidence and attitude. I have to go finish writing a paper but can’t wait to watch the rest of the video as my reward for completing my paper.
I’m so happy you found the right teachers/coaches this time around Molly! You guys are so impressive doing something so scary, yet rewarding, without seeing what you’re getting yourself into. Catching a wave really is a magical feeling that many people don’t understand. Great job Molly 💛
You are a natural surfer Molly! So stoked on that you had a great experience. I loved watching your progression and had so much fun working with you. Keep shredding!!🤙🏼🌊🏄🏼♀️🎉
this made me tear up! it has nothing to do with me but somehow i feel so happy and proud for you finding something you are so good at that gives you the ultimate freedom!
Omg molly you're a natural! I love it! Ahh this makes me so elated for you! I skated all throughout high school and was one of the only girls that skated in my town and i just know how it is! I skate goofy too! I have always loved that it's called "goofy." Just because its 'not regular.' such a skater term if you think about it. being coined in the time when skaing became popular. like cowabunga dude or tubular lol Molly get yourself a skateboard! Thats so aweosme lol.
Safety gear saves your life so you can have fun next time too. Just something to never forget. Helmets are for surfing too. Love the no fear attitude though and you really rocked this challenge!
Watching you do this series definitely has already shown me how much I am able to do as a sighted person, and that I didn’t realize how much of a privilege it is. Like when you stated that you couldn’t just go for a bike ride and get speed. And how you said that you are always attached in a way to someone or something whether it’s a guide dog, handrail, sighted guide, etc. Thank you for opening my mind up to how much more I should be grateful for and that and so much more. I don’t really do social media as much anymore, but I will definitely be following this series for however long it will be. And all the other videos you upload as well. With much love, Emma ❤
Great idea for a series, Molly. Looking forward to the next episodes. Pete and you really meshed in this expedition, and it was a lot of fun to watch. Well done.
Oh Molly! This was such a fun vlog! You did great! I look forward to all your new adventures. Elton watching you from the beach was precious 🥰 I follow Pete and love his content too.
I grew up at the beach - my uncle would wake me up at 6am to go surfing. I never picked it up - no physical disabilities…. However my autistic son will be joining for his third year with surfers healing. It’s a non profit that brings kids / adults with autism with professionalism surfers for a day. My son has caught waves with these volunteers and it really is a special day we look forward too.
Thank you for talking in depth about why you love surfing so much, the feeling of freedom with speed, and what it feels like to always be “tethered”. I appreciate you educating us on how you see the world through your specific lens *no pun intended* because the more we understand the experiences of others the more knowledge we can add to how we see the world. Love you ❤️

Oh my gosh… thIS VIDEO IS AWESOME!! You and Pete are just amazing and you had so much fun!! Loved every second of this video. Elton was so adorable watching you intently while you were in the water. I would love to see you and Pete doing more adventures!
I remember seeing a different blind surfer on the show Bondi Rescue, which is a show that follows the lifeguards on Bondi Beach! He was surfing with the lifeguards and showing them how he does it without sight. It's so cool to see how different blind surfers make it work for them
Molly, I love both you and @blindsurfer so much! You’re my 2 favorite blind people on the internet! Great job with skateboarding and surfing! You looked great out there!
This video just made me SO happy!!! I can’t wait to see the rest of the series. 😄 I struggle with different disabilities, but I found this extremely empowering!! You’re amazing, Molly 💜
You go, girl I’m listening to everything that’s being said being done. And you are killing it. If they say that oh you can’t do it do you tell him to kick rocks. Because you have proof here that you did it in the street and then you did it in the water. So if anybody tell you, oh Molly, you can’t do it because you can’t see you tell him to kick rocks. Because you know it’s true you can do it and you did it. Sending you love always Ineko & 🦮Frisco🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
Maybe next time Molly you should take Pete downhill skiing! I think, despite the cold it would be really fun for both of you, especially considering that freedom and speed that you get with skiing ☺️.
Molly, although you have lost your sight. There is nothing in this world stopping you from experiencing life itself. What you and Pete have done is just the beginning on experiencing life on the edge. If you let blindness stop you now, you will never experience life. Who says you need to see where you are going? Just feel the experience and it will guide you to your next adventure. You got this girl! Trust in God. He will take care of you and see you through safely. Life is a journey, live it to the fullest. God bless and take care.
I love this series idea! My Brother in law was in the Sochi Paralympic Games doing sit skiing, but because of that we watched the other downhill skiers, including Blind skiers, and were blown away! So I’m excited to see more amazing ways people prove the world wrong for believing disabled people can’t do things!!!
There were four separate times watching the video that I went to go like the video, having forgotten I already had. This is absolutely fantastic, I can't wait to see the rest of the series!
I can't stop smiling!! I've been hoping you would get with Pete for this. Just amazing how well he could help you in understanding what to do! you were brilliant :)
I hope you are able to learn mountain climbing/rock climbing with Erik Weihenmayer. I remember when I first heard he climbed Everest so many people said he just held onto someone who really climbed and led him there; but he's actually a phenomenally talented climber who also happens to be blind.
Watching you surfing made me so happy, your joy and excitement were contagious. I'm excited for this series you're doing, disabled people can do so much more than people would expect, we just need the right adaptations.
I love these videos because I love seeing how blind or vision impaired people interact and communicate to get points across without visuals. It gives me so many ideas for when I'm working with vision impaired people as a nurse, because I am *such* a visual person and really bad with mouth words. How can I describe something if I can't just show it? Watching you guys shows me how and it's really great, so thank you.
Happyness is something that you achive by doing little things that are challenging but will give you joy everytime you do them, remember them and keep increasing them, so be more happy every day molly also all of you people... 😎🤘👌
I don’t know anything about Pete, and he could be married, or have a significant other, but I am sensing some major chemistry there, Molly. He is adorable and seems incredibly nice, talented, and fun. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of you two together.
Molly you looked so cool on the skateboard. And tbh you killed it for a "first" surfing lesson! I barely stood up when I did a surfing lesson. Surfing is EXHAUSTING and difficult.
How you explained learning the waves at 23:58. That really resonated with me I think the same can apply in life like when your wanting to overcome something new or overcome obstacle that you have to get through or unlearn bad habits to better your life. I think what you said can apply to all hard things. Life is very much like riding ocean waves 🥲 I think that was so well said of you molly. I'm going to remember that for the rest of my life now ❤
I still hope to see you try sailing one day. There are some great blind sailing programs around the world, including LA. And they teach anything from casual fun sailing to world-class racing.
This is by far one of my favorite videos! I cried I laughed I cheered and I can't wait to go surfing myself. I felt like I learned so much more about being blind when the two of you were together sharing your experiences. Can't wait for more

I’d love to see Molly try some type of fiber art like crochet or knit! As a low vision fiber artist I love how tactile the medium is and it’s become my main medium as I’ve experienced more eye pain. There’s also a history of disabled people and fiber arts! Many blind people, especially girls and women, who were in institutions were taught to knit so their pieces could be sold. It’s not the most fun history but it’s our history and I know a lot of disabled people are reclaiming the mediums
That was so much fun to watch, Molly! I look forward to the rest of the series! You really looked so happy trying this and I loved how gung-ho you were. Molly! Your joy when doing sports is so charismatic and contagious! I would love to see you and Pete do a series of trying new sports! Maybe platform diving next?
I enjoy watching you try new things! Have you ever tried water-skiing or wake boarding? Those are great speed water sports. Since the boat is pulling you, you don't have to think about where you're going or that you'll hit anything. You can feel where the wake is. When you get tired just let go of the ski rope.

Wow the conversation at the end of this video was so powerful. Thanks for sharing and being so vulnerable so we can learn about others and disability.
AHHHH! I want Molly to continue to learn to skate so bad!!
It was so cool to see Pete and his friends wrap around you and prepare you for surfing basically on your own. ❤
This was fantastic! Pete is fantastic and he understood how to explain what you needed to hear since he was there before. Loved this so much!
Wow!! He is SO impressively good at voiceovers!!!
Molly you are a natural!!💗You CAN do ANYTHING
You are a natural surfer Molly! So stoked on that you had a great experience. I loved watching your progression and had so much fun working with you. Keep shredding!!🤙🏼🌊🏄🏼♀️🎉
Also, I would love to see you with your natural dark, almost black hair, it's so unique and fits your eye color so well!
this made me tear up! it has nothing to do with me but somehow i feel so happy and proud for you finding something you are so good at that gives you the ultimate freedom!
This is why I love Molly she shows the world people with disabilities still can do stuff. I have a disability and i just love watching, Thank you.
You should meet with blind skateboarders!! You looked really cool and confident on the surf/skateboard
Love you ❤️
The talk at the end had me crying, you two are an inspiration❤😭 thank you for sharing your experiences ❤😭
hey molly i was born partially blind and i was a cheerleader and a horseback rider and a pianist to top it all off i am special olympic athlete and a girl scout troop member
I would love to watch you cook with Christine Hà!! I've watched Master Chef since I was a kid so I saw her season and she's an amazing chef!! Maybe she could give you tips to help you be more comfortable in the kitchen!!
It's so cool to see how different blind surfers make it work for them
The vibes in the skating part were immaculate
Molly did better blind than I do sighted LMAO! Me and Matthew would DEFINITELY not be a match🤣
This was so fantastic! I love the look on your face when you were skating and surfing 🏄♂️ free by yourself 👍👏🥰
Now we need to see Molly take Pete skiing! 😊
BLIND SURFER PETE. I JUST DISCOVERED HIM 2 WEEKS AGO AND NOW DOING A COLLAB WITH MOLLY UGH YES!!
Molly, I love both you and @blindsurfer so much! You’re my 2 favorite blind people on the internet! Great job with skateboarding and surfing! You looked great out there!
OMG. This is the crossover I wanted to see.
Woot! Two of my fave blind people getting together to do something awesome! Can’t wait to see who you team up with next. ❤
Amazing that they did this
I love all the detail in all the steps leading up to entering the ocean
This video just made me SO happy!!! I can’t wait to see the rest of the series. 😄 I struggle with different disabilities, but I found this extremely empowering!! You’re amazing, Molly 💜
His voice is sooo awesome!
This was so beautiful to watch - thank you for sharing these exciting and vulnerable moments! Pete and his crew seemed amazing and so kind, too :)
Sending you love always
Ineko & 🦮Frisco🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
Maybe next time Molly you should take Pete downhill skiing! I think, despite the cold it would be really fun for both of you, especially considering that freedom and speed that you get with skiing ☺️.
the fact pete went all all out with coachs nisha mothering her was golden ^_^
FU©K. YES! Molly x Pete - the crossover//collab i definitely knew i needed. 😂 haha
happy it's here + so excited to watch this one! 🖤✊🏾
I’m so excited for this series!!! I love seeing you explore and see other blind folks share their expertise and passions!
I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS SERIES AND I HAVE NOT EVEN GOTTEN A MINUTE INTO THE VIDEO lol
There were four separate times watching the video that I went to go like the video, having forgotten I already had. This is absolutely fantastic, I can't wait to see the rest of the series!
PETE IS SO HANDSOME, OMG AND HIS VOICE! I’m in love he’s so sweet and kind. ❤
Molly - I am so psyched that you and Pete hung out together. This new series sounds great!
Yay!!! I am so happy y’all collaborated together!!!!
Erik Weihnmayer. He’s the first blind person to Summit Mount Everest, and an all-around blind badass.
Yes! Molly Burke, I love the Blind leading the blind series! This is so exciting.
Such joy for all involved, especially Molly and Pete! There is power in having a shared reality and it was an honor to witness!
I'm going to remember that for the rest of my life now ❤
I'm so excited for this series! Thank you so much for taking us along with you and letting us meet so many awesome folks
Can't wait for more
Your personality really shined in this video, 2023 is totally the year of Molly!
Omg molly you're a natural! I love it! Ahh this makes me so elated for you! I skated all throughout high school and was one of the only girls that skated in my town and i just know how it is!
Two of my favorites together!!! Great video. So much fun.
This looks/sounds so much fun!!!! I'm already in love with this new series!!!!!
That was so much fun to watch, Molly! I look forward to the rest of the series! You really looked so happy trying this and I loved how gung-ho you were. Pete was so great helping you with the board on the road and Nisha seemed like a great teacher. I just love the water and it was great seeing you in it. You are incredibly brave and talented person!
Wow. I love this series idea so much. Steve was such a nice guy. I hope you go surfing again Molly! You really shocked me with your natural talent!
This is my favorite video you've ever done!! Truly amazing. Pete seems so sweet and kind too! Loved it :)
