  • In this video I talk about Sudička which is a spirit of fate from Czech and Slavic folklore. I also go through a fairy tale by Karel Jaromír Erben called Tři zlaté vlasy děda Vševěda which features Sudička.

I love how many common themes from other stories I recognize. I think it's awesome that people from over the world tell the sane stories. some of them must have traveled far, and some were invented independently of each other. I think you can tell so much about people's lives by listening to their folk tales.

Such a beautiful story. Keep up the good work man, we need to share and preserve our Slavic culture in this disgusting age of globalization.

Out of curiosity, what do you specifically mean by “disgusting age of globalisation”?

Man these kings don't know how to retire gracefully. (Definitely some influence from the early part of King David's life with the jealousy of Saul and his lure of impossible tasks to kill him.)
But I am glad the Fate Spirit was able to hide our hero with our hurting her son.

If it got fully fleshed-out, that story would make a really cool anime series.

The story reminds me at the story: the devil with the three golden hair" from the brothers Grimm.

Yeah, the story is very similar. There's bunch of these fairy tales that were written down by different collectors during romanticism in countries which are close to each other so they have different version but the story is essentially the same.

Skvělé video! I would like to mention, what i have read about this particular story. Who know author of this story Karel J. Erben is surely aware that his stories are sometimes inspired czech and slavic mythology and thats why Děd Vševěd is very likely the representation of Svarog or more precisely his son Dažboh, god of the sun, who ages as the day pass by and that he inteds to eat Plaváček probably represents the idea of offering human sacrifices to this pagan deity.

I don't know what Sudička foretold for me,
I would have a strong body and mind as is custom in the family, but I have the misfortune of being born with a broken mind and face
I hide both, and because of that I am the most gentle

Christian influences of the three kings and Moses in the basket?

Definitely Moses with the basket. There's more Czech legends which are clearly inspired by the Old Testament.

Really great story. Asspecially I had liked the Sudicka and that they sometimes decide the fate of someone, ehile sitting on a the roof in the night and that the punishment for don´t cilling the baby is drinking water for the rest of his life. By the way: How had you come to the pictures?
