Luke please make an in my mind tutorial for how to play as a team or duo. I request you to please do it using the set you played B2B with Hardwell, Afrojack, etc.... Please Luke......
The thing I like the most about vinyl mixes like this is that it gives you an insight into the type of music that the artists themselves cherish the most. With digital, tracks are easier to obtain, and there's more incentive there to just go with the popular crowd-pleasers. But with vinyl, its pricey and takes up space, and you tend not to invest in it unless you absolutely love it. I hope he does more like this!
I've got to be honest I'm a big pioneer fan boy but denon are killing it at the moment and Luke did a great mix on theese in the video, really good to showcase them :)
Thank you laidback luke for this vinyl set I have waited so long for you to make a video like this and now you finally have taking it back to the old school I absolutely love it
I can't say i'm a big fan of techno or any of the music that was in the mix TBH but WOW did i still appreciate it! The sheer talent that's required to mix the way you did is simply incredible! That was a sick mix Luke!
This was a really different mix to get to listen to! It sounded much more naturally crunchy than any other mix I've heard, then again I have never heard a true set done on vinyl so I may just not be used to the different medium.
RIP Tim (Avicii). I heard Tim started working on music and discussing them on one of Luke's forums. The world has lost a bright star. You're music will live on and inspire generations to come!
I used to have a system for keeping track of my vinyl when i used it. I had a case that was a 50/50 split for the lid and base, all unplayed tracks were in the base, kept the live tracks out on a diagonal like Luke had all his vinyl, then when a track was finished it was easy to grab the sleeve and it then went in to the lid so knew what had been played already. Thank god for digital music! Thank god for Luke!
Loved the vinyl mixing. You almost lost it a few times but caught it. Hearing somebody play the witch doctor did it for me. One of my all time faves along with Blackout and a Day in a life. Everything actually sounded muddy but it was just how things were pressed back then with more warmth. My favorite vlog thus far. Keep up the good work.
Huge Respect to you! This is so crazy to think about mixing without the "digital" hotcues or waveforms! Realy good to see that some DJs didnt even forgot where the Djing is coming from 😍👌
Brilliant once again, I really like the tutorials you do, please do as many as possible, I enjoy watching all the styles you put in from other DJs who have obviously inspired you.
I loved vinyl. My friend DJ Gary Quinton at DajVu Nightclub in Atlantic City in the 1990's used to use 3 turntables. Love the energy and real mixing with human errors.
@dante mojares it’s not really hard, just takes a bit of practice. It’s a lot of fun though. I’m still using vinyl. Never tried cdj’s or dvs. I was saving for a serato box but my father took the family laptop to be fixed & for some reason he told the guy to delete everything on the hard drive. That included over 600 tracks I had bought from iTunes! Now I’m saving for a laptop of my own & im going to start over.
Thank you so much LL I really appreciate this mix!! im a turntablist DJ and this makes really happy to see pro DJs using turntables still!!! Much love and THANK YOU AGAIN!!!
At the end of my set my cuticles would be cut from digging through the crates. I would sometimes go through 30-45 tracks in a 1 hour set. This is when DJing was fun. No time to pick up the mic and worry about people “putting their f-Ing hands up”. Thanks for this one. I wanna do a back to back vinyl set with Laidback Luke! Woooooooooooo
Luke, I am honestly so happy to see you making these videos. I got into the underground techno and the after-hours scene about 4 years ago and fell in absolute love with it. After procrastinating for a while, I bit the bullet and bought the MC7000. I have sadly found that there is a ton of elitism within the scene, and a lot of DJs don't really want to help out the new artists learn the old techniques. I'm learning a lot from just watching these videos, so keep up the amazing work! If you are ever in Vancouver BC, I highly recommend you check out Gorg-o-mish after-hours in downtown. It may bring back a bit of nostalgia :)
this is awesome... kinda like a mini dream come true always wanted to hear luke do a filter house and techno set and mixing on vinyl. the amount of sonic content missing from the records is crazy but i kinda like it
Great to see someone you admire sharing his knowledge ! Especially with Vinyls, I and this generation in general, are so used to CDJ. I was curious about how does a vinyl work ? Thanks for sharing this with us Luke, I learn a lot of things thanks to you ! Ideas of next vlogs : how are dj booked for festival/clubs ? Will you put some merch for your fans ?
Avicii’s song *Levels* sent this whole EDM thing into a new stratosphere. It was in a lot of ways groundbreaking. He truly had his own sound and influenced a lot of people. His importance on EDM should be respected and never forgotten. Rest In Peace, Avicii. 🎶🙌❤️
I respect Avicii as a human being but after his levels song, that whole EDM sound went to the wasteside, I cant wait until that fad is over and Real Dance Music takes hold again such as this amazing set being laid down by Laidback Luke... Real Dance Music in full effect !!!!
EDM has now fully merged into pop. Listen to all the newest productions from all the big EDM guys. It's literally identical to the pop radio sound. If the bass drop dies and this whole STOP THE BEAT AFTER EVERY FEW BARS TO BEYONCE FANS DON'T GET BORED type shit dies then dance music can become good again. You don't hear any of that crap in what Laidback Luke is playing here. this is proper dance music
Great Job!! I still use vinyl to this day with slide and rotary mixers, but I do love my CDJs and Controllers also. Your track selection took me back to the good old rave days. ONE!
14:39 “My old stuff sounded so dirty!”… Maybe so Luke, but it still makes me want to boogie! By the way, I’m 41 & still mad for techno! 🤩😊👍 I really miss my 20’s, going out every weekend giving it loads on the dancefloor… those were the days!
Man it's a pitty a I can only give you one 'thumbs up', becuase this deserved more. Very good. Gotta do more of these, but with 3 decks ;) Thankx for sharing
RIP AVICII - If you feel like maybe share a nice Avicii moment with us.
Er war ein großes Vorbild für mich und viele andere angehenden DJs und Produzenten, als auch für viele erfahrene Produzenten. #RIPAvicii

I WAS JUST ABOUT TO WRITE THAT!!!!
Been wondering about this as well actually
What a fucking great idea !!

You should play more sets like this
Luke you're such a genuine guy. Love the vinyl set and that you're promoting how to be the real deal.
this was sooooooo fire. i wanted to watch this just to see you do vinyl but the set was fire as hell
Love these videos with the captions! Especially this one, as someone who wasn't around for the vinyl era of DJing
You never fail to impress me, the amount of quality stuff You are producing is ridiculous! Keep up the good work, keep that smile on !
Still very much in love with that filter house/disco sound, great to hear this Luke!
I've got to be honest I'm a big pioneer fan boy but denon are killing it at the moment and Luke did a great mix on theese in the video, really good to showcase them :)
Thank you laidback luke for this vinyl set I have waited so long for you to make a video like this and now you finally have taking it back to the old school I absolutely love it
Incredible skills on the vinyl Luke!
Luke, always the professional & technician, no matter what medium he uses when playing records. Shoutout
Thank you Luke for keeping it real and showcasing what REAL DJing is all about!!!

I love everything you upload. It’s not the same ol boring stuff. Some of us actually enjoy real djs.
RIP Tim (Avicii). I heard Tim started working on music and discussing them on one of Luke's forums.

Love these In My Mind VLogs.

Thank god for digital music! Thank god for Luke!
This has to be one of the most impressive videos I've ever seen on RUclips. Bravo.
Putting it back in the sleeve is always hard !!!!
RIP Legend #RIPAvicii
With Luke on the Decks, even this kind of music becomes so interesting! Amazing, wish the rest of the other underground dj's could mix like that.
Love it Luke! I have so many of these vinyl, thanks for taking me back....
The Witchdoctor at 16:16 is one of my all-time favorite tracks
Nice seeing the Vinyl back out Luke... Just like riding a bike. Decent throwback set, keep bangin.

Suchhhhh a legend! I love seeing you mix in vinyl
This takes me back to the clubs in vancouver when I first starting djing. Vancity still has all vinyl parties which are amazing.
Rip avicii. The world lost one of its most inspirational and talented individual.
it's incredible how it changed from the "dusty" sounding vinyls to the "super ultra" clean of productions nowadays. great mix by the way Luke!
So much love and respect for you! and thank u for showing us how we kick it oldschool!!
I loved vinyl. My friend DJ Gary Quinton at DajVu Nightclub in Atlantic City in the 1990's used to use 3 turntables. Love the energy and real mixing with human errors.
A legendary DJ and you have all my respect.!! What a talented DJ
Man I miss those old beats! Loved it thank you!
RIP Avicii! You were an inspiration to me, and were really the first artist to really get me into EDM. Rest easy brother.
honestly mad respect to djs that still use vinyl. this looks really hard to learn.

Your intro gets me every time brother. Keep up the good work
Loved the track selection!
Thanks for the knowledge shared in this video, Luke. And I'm sorry for your loss, since you probably knew Avicii way more than any of us, just fans.
Going back to your roots, playing vinyl. Great job on the mix

Dope mix. Miss those types of tracks.
Can you share the tracklist please?

hey Luke, any place to drop you a demo to review it/give feedback on it?
Real DJ'ing! Really enjoyed this on a tough day for dance music. Rip Avicii
Tune coming in at 8:54 reminds me of classic Jeff Mills and Chris Liebing sets. Chunky, Tribal, Tech!!
Amazing highly skilled mix
14:39 “My old stuff sounded so dirty!”… Maybe so Luke, but it still makes me want to boogie! By the way, I’m 41 & still mad for techno! 🤩😊👍 I really miss my 20’s, going out every weekend giving it loads on the dancefloor… those were the days!
AVICII is always in my mind, bros!
