I enjoy taking photographs of my crumpled bed. I like sitting near the pond and recording the bird song. I have an old medium format camera that I use expired film in. I like flowers, I forage for Mugwort and drink it's tea. I admire the local architecture and form a plan in my mind how to capture its mystery. I talk to my plants. I like painting watercolour but I'm really shit at it. My bare feet are touching the carpet. i dream of fishing and long hot sunny days with butterfly's and bee's. Your film made my day and I shall easily remember it.

Before listening to this, I have just done contacting this local cobbler to make me custom knee high boots. I'm remaking my entire image. I am done with looking "masculine". I'm delving back into my androgynous style that I had 10 years ago. And I am purchasing a lot of knee high boots, boots with heels, boots in all forms and material, because I need to look like Angel Gabriel (Tilda Swinton in Constantine) in dark version, and with a mix of The Sandman (Tom Sturridge version). I'm sewing a lot of my black sleeveless tops and growing my hair long and started wearing dark eyeshadow again. This is how I live for beauty.

I found your channel a few days ago thanks to YT recommending me your architecture video, which is quite funny considering my awakening to the importance of beauty came from recognizing modern architecture and how hideous it is has a negative effect on the human mind. Ever since then, I'd always thought of beauty and aesthetics as a necessity, not something vain or superficial so I'm so glad to have found this channel that aligns so perfectly with my own philosophy. This is so poetic and romantic, beauty. You’re building up a personality and habits that one day you became rich, you would fit in immediately. This is class regardless of material conditions. So keep it up. Maybe these days are just a trial for self-learning and training for further roles and purposes onwards.
Wish you all the best in whatever you do. To escape into beauty is good, just don’t dwell onto to that then you’ll grow gracefully 🎉❤

"Useless" hobbies. Practicing slowing my handwriting down so it can be more expressive and pretty. Using that time to memorize poems by writing lines.
I'm reading a really obscure book that nobody will ever ask about. And taking detailed notes in a commonplace book.
I'm starting to make recycled paper for fun.
I light candles and really take the time to smell and look at them. I spend more time appreciating nature.
Ive peeled all the labels off my beauty and medical products and it makes me so much happier to kook at plain containers.
I have been reshopping my home to find prettier things to hold my stuff.
I bought myself a decorative item ive been wanting for years and i love it. My home is really feeling like a sanctuary. For my "learning about fragrances" im starting with candles but cant wait to do the perfume one
You have such wonderful practical advice.

watching this video felt like placing a puzzle piece down in its correct spot. i’ve always looked at things this way & didn’t understand why it was so hard for the people in my life to look at things the same. i never looked at it like a philosophy, living for beauty. finding the subtle beauty of what you have before you, placing a bouquet together or the way the sunlight shines through my sheer ivory curtain, the way my beautiful little tortie cats pattern shifts around her body as she stretches, the way you can see the clouds slowly passing if you focus, the deep breaths of contemplation. i genuinely love & appreciate the little things they catch my eye & mind & the quick feeling of calm & gratitude that overcome me. thankyou for helping me understand that this has been my pursuit, i just hadn’t had the words or understanding for it.

This is such a beautiful video and thank you for introducing me to Roger Scruton. After my museum trip on this rainy day, I’ll purchase the book referenced in this video. I love the concept of minimal beauties because even if you can’t make your home as your complete sanctuary, you can provide yourself moments or vignettes of beauty that are a salve from the harsh realities of the outside world. And if you think about it, grand gestures of beauty are simply collections of minimal beauties. All those beautifully decorated homes started with one object. Same with wardrobes, one piece- like your gorgeous red d’orsay pumps. Once we see that everything is a collection of smaller things-beauty doesn’t feel so unattainable anymore.

As a very young child I remember somehow having these little mirror balls in silver and in blue. Utterly transfixed by them. I wanted to keep them, but couldn't for some reason. Such a strange and ancient memory to have, and for some reason so significant. I have never considered beauty. It's a sort of passive thing in my life, but now I am thinking more preciously of it. Pursuing beauty, possessing it, filling my life and environments with it. I would like to hang a mirror ball in my window and let it fling light everywhere.

thank you for this beautiful!! channel that you created, i absolutely adore you and your mind.
while watching this video i recognized myself in a lot of aspects you mentioned.
a few days ago I went out for a walk in the evening and the rest was pure magic.
i listened to beautiful music and saw the moon behind a building so that it appeared as if the building had an aura, because you could only see the light of the moon behind the building, not the moon itself. I was in absolute awe, I stood there and watched it for as long as I could and it nearly made me cry. Not only because I was lucky to see this spectacle but because I was able to feel it so deeply, to be moved by it so deeply and to let the beauty of this moment be felt through every facet of my being.
in that moment I realized that this way of perceiving the world is my biggest blessing.
and that some people don’t understand it, they simply don’t see the same amount of beauty in the same thing, and I thought about how if I wasn’t alone in that moment, another person probably would urge me to continue to walk after a short time and not allow me get lost in the beauty of that moment.
I think that I’m a highly sensitive person, which can be an explanation for perceiving the world like that and a lot of things that you say remind me of it.
have you ever considered to be highly sensitive?

I love this so much beauty to me in one aspect also includes vulnerability. Wearing your heart on your sleeve can be so thrilling to witness opposed to the shame society puts on us for such display nowadays. But as an artist, of any kind, the self-discovery that it brings to me that makes me want to paint it on a canvas each time, and witness the FEELING is madly seductive, right in that present moment. It made me appreciate life more and looked at nature so differently when it comes to my paintings. My senses are different, enhanced. Your delivery and your whole view is deeply enriching. Of course I would love this haha Sailor Neptune is my profile pic. Dreamers are the best kind of artists

i verbally gasped ‘yes!’ multiple times watching this. i often think how shallow people must think i am posting constant, seemingly pointless, and primarily positive photos to instagram. But to me i can’t stop seeing how beautiful something looked that day. My friend goes to eat as their food is placed and rolls their eyes at me wanting a photo, but look at the meal, someone in a kitchen placed this together, with an intent for aesthetic or not it’s beautiful and we should always pause to take that in. I wonder how these beautiful photos look to others, like i curated the scene in front of me to look amazing on purpose to make my life seem better. And it usually isn’t the case but hell if i move one object to fit into frame i’m still just take a little moment to curate a scene for me to look at. Thank you for this, and thank you for that reading

what a beautiful topic and video. ❤ my family is from italy and i feel proud to come from a long line of ppl who not only understand beauty but who live for beauty, who make everything beautiful, and who feel no shame in doing so. beauty is an experience, a spiritual one at that. we are all designed to notice beauty, to WANT to notice beauty. many times people see things in black and white- if you love beauty, you are vain or vapid. many believe beauty is beneath them because they have been shamed out of their desire to be beautiful or to create beauty in their lives.. it is really sad actually. to me creating beauty is an act of worship to the divine. i don’t want to keep rambling but i just want to thank you for this video because it did touch me deeply’

I spent my day gathering ceramics from the studios scattered around the hinterland where I live and learning about ikebana from a passing teacher during a seminar she hosted in one of the potters studios.
I also discovered the Japanese concept of Ma - meaning negative space, the space between, the void, the essential emptiness from where all things bound. The kanji symbol for Ma is two symbols combined - the symbol for the moon, with the symbol of an open gate sitting above, literally meaning moonlight streaming through an open gate.
Awash with ecstasy at this revelation.

The beauty of finding beauty is that it's subjective. What is beautiful to me doesn't have to be beautiful to you, and vice versa. Oftentimes, we get stuck in the fear of criticism from the general crowd, when that does not even matter as much as our own approval and acknowledgement. So, the title is right, because one, your life is yours (personal, subjective), and it's up to you if you want it to be a work of art, or not.

Have you read The Secret History by Donna Tartt? The main character has an obsession with the picturesque and I think you would like it!

Thank you 💓 I have an idea, the beauty of homes in film - some films do this really well. Older ones of course. Would be fun to look at. And I find portraits of artists fascinating, their home/surroundings. -- I'm with you on the weekly bouquets 🌹 a little beauty goes a long way. Xoxo.

What a beautiful talk! Living for beauty makes the ones that don't very jealous, because they are unable to understand and see what beauty really means. You are not alone, though. A big. warm hug to you!

(Vid request) What do you feel are the points or concepts that you frequently remind yourself of (or think you should) to center yourself, and/or reach further? This is part of the foundation, I feel, in all of your content, but if you were to make a list?

That long + wide piece of art we caught a glimpse of on a wall in your dining room really piqued my interest, did you paint that? if not, do you know who did? I would love to see a full shot of it.
