Locarno being mistaken for being Tom Paris would actually make for a great episode of Lower Decks. In fact, the episode could even poke fun at how Trek characters who are played by the same recurring actors all look alike. I could also see Marc Alaimo guest starring and reprising his role of Gul Macet from the TNG episode "The Wounded" where people mistake him for Gul Dukat. In Beta Canon, it's revealed that the similarities between Macet and Dukat is due to the fact that they're cousins, which is why he grew facial hair as a conscious effort to lessen this resemblance. However, Macet was shown to be a much more honorable man than Dukat.
My head cannon, Paris called himself Locarno in the academy, to try to not have the reputation of being a part of Starfleet Royalty. He is the same person.
@@toddfraser3353feels like him being the son of an admiral would have come up during the investigation into the incident that got a fellow cadet killed
Given he has already been on the show, Jeffery Combs would need to make an appearance if Lower Decks did an episode. Maybe have Mariner playing poker in the holodeck with Wayoun, Brunt, Shran, etc and halfway through have her realize the holodeck glitched and swapped the voices of two of them.
@@Feasco it might have, but it was a Weasley Episode. So the fact that his Father was an admiral wasn't part of the story, so it never needed to be shown. The Enterprise happened to be near earth, while Admiral Paris may had been on mission.
On that note: Given how many times they found ways to shave thousands of lightyears off their journey, they should've really been in the Beta Quadrant at this point.
I watched the SG1 episode two decades after watching this Voyager episode in syndication and it was crazy to me how similar the episodes were. Then I remembered that I had actually watched another SG1 episode earlier that was very similar to Workforce.
There were a few Chakotay/Tom Paris slash sites from the early 2000s that used the image of Tom in his racing uniform as their promo image and part of their site banner, and I’ve been wondering forever what episode it’s from. I guess now I know!

@@mikethoroughgood16 yea without a doubt. Voy was close to being Very Very Good several times but then it pulled back and never took that final step to really develop the show and those in it. It's too bad. Sucks to see wasted potential. And what was with having to shove Kes out the door just bc Seven arrived? What, can't have two female characters in the same frame?? Would have been nice to watch Seven take a little longer transitioning into human form. These producers forced the writers to rush or forego way too much. A real shame.
@YourCapybaraAmigo_17yrsago yeah a few reviewers I've watched said it too and well I blame the writers Voyager's crew literally lived without consequences the engineers on Voyager must be wizards to repair the damage done by their many enemies
A ship stranded on the far side of the galaxy, an unexplored area of space with no support, backup or able to go to drydock for repairs and resupplies, all the while having to implement a group of rebels on the crew. With a premise like that, we can explore stuff never seen before in the franchise. Unknown species could prove to be either strong allies or dangerous foes. The trip back home could be long and arduous, with the ship being in constant danger and search for different ways of repairs and resupplies. The mixed crew could lead to conflicting natures and ideologies between them, opening the way for some compelling drama, tough choices and character development. Or we can have a ship race.
To be fairs, a ship race could be explained with voyager competing for McGuffin(TM)brand superfuel that could get them home faster. Shave a few months or years off the 70-year away mission, and also throw in all the other stuff. How do we race with limited resources? Does the combined maquis-starfleet racing team have conflicts and mutually beneficial skills? But it would be weird for VOY to start asking those questions in season 7. Sad.

So, I literally just found this channel the other day. On an older video, you mentioned that you had uploads spread across multiple channels... But your tabs are empty, so I can't locate them. I'd LOVE to see more Trek episode reviews, along with Stargate and xfiles. I'm almost done with all the videos on this channel. Are there still more out there somewhere?
4:41 I blame Torres - but then again, I hate surprises. Torres spent a lot of effort setting up something for Tom to enjoy... Except that's not true, is it? She spent a lot of effort to set up something she would enjoy, and that would require Tom's presence. What she should have done is, she should have shared the effort with Tom. After all, if it's a gift for the both of them, both of them should pay for it. Of course, Tom forgetting that he already had a date, and one that couldn't possibly have been easy to organize, and one that his girlfriend organized all on her own hoping he would like it... Okay maybe I do blame Tom a little :P

I love Chuck when he can stay dignified even in the face of extreme levels of complete stupidity. And RUclips has impressively extreme levels of complete stupidity.
God I try to forget about that SG-1 episode. It's so completely out of place with the established mythos of the Goa'uld stamping out advanced species that they're aware of.

Not sure if Alaimo will come back as a guest, especially for a voice acting role. Seeing recent clips, he's really lost his iconic voice sadly.

Should have called this episode "Delta Quadrant Graffiti".
On that note: Given how many times they found ways to shave thousands of lightyears off their journey, they should've really been in the Beta Quadrant at this point.
Sadly we’re gonna have to wait 22 years before we see the Delta Flyer in a race that we can actually watch.
