I love these videos. Its really neat to see how some locations really changed, and some are still the same.Chip's was one of my favorite shows as a kid in the late 70s.
Some of these videos bring back memories....sometimes; eerie ones!! So much time (in human terms!) has passed. Those who were young then are older now. Those who were really young are middle age and so on!! It's a joy to watch these!!!
What’s weird for me is, I feel like I was part of the Chips shootings… like I was there. I’m 50 now so I guess experiencing the late 70s is how I think I’m connected to them. I loved watching this show when I was young.
Wow. Did LAPD/HP actually block in fleeing criminals back then?! Wow. Now, they just back out of the way to let them escape, and/or enter "tracking mode" so the criminals will feel they're in command. It's that California nurturing thing, and Californian recognition that homicidal maniacs have feelings too :) Anyway, thanks for the cool footage!
I grew up in the area and was in 2 episodes. In the late 80’s I became a cop and had Twin Sonic light bars on 2 of my cars. Now I am a volunteer after retirement and I have a 72 inch LED light bar on my truck. Out in the country I can get through traffic, except trucks don’t get out of the way well but in town no one cares, they cut me off. I usually have organs on the way to the airport, nothing important.
The James Coffee Shop sign shown from 6:18-6:28 is in San Fernando. In the early 90's I went in to eat, there and asked the owner if that was a picture of him on the sign, and he told that it was him. I'm curious if it's still there, today.

Ponch and Jon along with Bonnie and Baricza finally arrest some convicted felons.
McMahans Furniture at 4:45 I remember my parents shopped there. Also you can hear the engine ticking on that blue Ford van.
After seeing some of these I'm now a subscriber. 👍
Thank You!!

The van sounds like it has a stuck lifter.

1:06 That Dodge van must have armor plating. Not a scratch.
