This Jahangir Mahal Orchha Fort vlog is based on my experience on my visit to Jahangir Mahal in Orchha Fort Complex in Orchha town of Madhya Pradesh State in India. In this video, I have told history of Jahangir Mahal Orchha in Hindi. So, this video is not only about Jahangir Mahal Orchha history but it's also about Sheesh Mahal and Rai Praveen Mahal. A lot of people ask in hindi Jahangir Mahal kahan hai which means where is Jahangir Mahal. So, Jahangir Mahal is located in Orchha town of Madhya Pradesh State in India. Some people even ask in Hindi that "Jahangir Mahal ka nirman kisne karvaya tha" which means who built Jahangir Mahal. So, Jahangir Mahal was built by Maharaja Vir Singh Judev. And if you want to know completely about Jahangir Mahal in Hindi or Jahangir Mahal kisne banwaya tha, then this video is surely for you. To jaisa ki maine bataya ki Jahangir Mahal ka nirman raja Vir singh judev ne karvaya tha, to aap is video ko ant tak zarur dekhiyega.
Jahangir Mahal is known to be a palace in Orchha town of Madhya Pradesh and it was was exclusively built by Bir Singh Deo in the year 1605 to honor the Mughal emperor Jahangir who was actually a guest of the Maharaja for only one night. The structure was made as a symbol of warm reception of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir, during his visit to Orchha city. The palace is constructed in four floors with Indo-Islamic architectural features so it has both Muslim and Rajput architecture. The front wall of Jahangir Mahal faces to the east and is covered beautifully with turquoise and lapis lazuli tiles. Jahangir Mahal is marked by stylishly hanging balconies, porches, as well as apartments.
The layout of Jahangir Palace is a symmetrical square, which is built in the inner courtyard of the fort which is actually the main courtyard, and Jahangir Mahal has eight large domes. The domes of the Jahangir Mahal, were built as per the Timurid customs; its grand Iwans are huge enough to accommodate the entry of war elephants, not only that but its high position over the landscape allowed cannons superior range. It has a 236 rooms with arcaded openings as well as projecting platforms and windows which are nicely done with lattice design work. All these rooms were made for soldiers and guests. The roof above the top floor of this Jahangir Mahal can be accessed through a steep staircase. It provides mesmerizing views of the temples and the Betwa River which are located outside the fort complex. The palace also has a small archaeological museum.
Sheesh Mahal is located in between the Raja Mahal and the Jahangir Mahal. This Mahal has royal accommodation, which was once built for King Udait Singh. This Sheesh Mahal has now been converted into a hotel by Madhya Pradesh Tourism(MPT) with beautiful suites on the upper floor. Sheesh Mahal also has a large hall with high ceiling, which is the dining hall.
The entrance gate of this palace, which was known to be the main gate is carved beautifully with ornamentation work and it leads to the royal baths and then to a small subpalace which is known to be built within a garden that is in typical Mughal architectural style: the Rai Praveen Mahal. This Palace was built for Rai Parveen, who was known to be the love interest of Raja Indrajit Singh; you can see her large-size portrait with revealing and seductive attire inside the of hall of this Mahal. Rai Praveen was a poet and musician of Bundelkhand. The building is a actually double-storied structure which is built with bricks, rising to the height of the trees in its surrounding, Anand Mahal gardens. The garden has octagonal flower beds and a very good network of water supply. There are different niches in the Mahal which permits natural light to the main hall as well as the smaller rooms.
It is said that the Jahangir's father, Mughal Emperor Akbar (r. 1556 - 1605) was enamored by Rai Parveen's beauty, asked Rai Praveen to come to his palace in Agra to be his courtesan. But Rai Parveen wanted to get out of the situation, so she composed a poem “विनती राय प्रवीण की, सुनिए साह सुजान,. झूठी पातर भखत हैं, बायस-बारी-स्वान”. This poem stated her status as an already used woman and so she was not fit for an emperor, and fortunately that helped her to get release from Akbar's court and return to Orchha.

All is amazing for everybody that how the construction were made on those days there have very limited resources of construction material, skilled personnels like draftsman for the preparation such huge construction of this mahal.
