For starters, I'm pretty set on Piplup and Snivy given their very france theme. Ofc, I don't know for sure, but it seems very likely. The Fire starter I'm less sure about. Could be Torchic because the rooster is the national bird of France, but it has a Mega while the other two don't, so unless they plan to give the other two starters a Mega I doubt it'll be Torchic. I've seen some people say that Scorbunny makes sense due to Football being huge in France as well, but I have no idea. The Fire starter is a bit more tricky. I do, however, think that all the Starters with Megas, so the Gen 1 and 3 as well as the Kalos starters will be available in the game, maybe in the wild like the Sinnoh Starters were in Legends: Arceus.

Dont know if youve heard, but ILCA and The Pokemon Company (TPC) have made a new studio together called Pokemon Works and ILCA has been confirmed to take on VIDEO GAME projects. This means that their could be a remake or something of that nature this year. I personally think its a great move by pokemon, so Game Freak can focus more on the main games instead of those side games.
Late to the party here, but there's three starters that kinda already work for France/Kalos. Empoleon because Nepoleon and that medieval era feel that you mentioned, Serperior because it's literally on the gates to the Palace in XY and because it was inspired to be created in the first place due to a French Manga and Scorbunny because while Soccer/Football was created elsewhere, it was made popular by the French.
I'm not so sure about sprigatito. It's already in the spotlight and that would just be putting the spotlight on something that's already in the spotlight. It's on par with giving the pity points to first place during the award ceremony when they have a dominating lead. Bottom line is that it would be too redundant because we're still in gen 9.
Legends arceus gave us starters with connections to 19th century Japan then they gave them more obvious connections. Samurott = samurai, Decidueye = archer & ronin, and Typhlosion = kamaitachi yokai & priest. My favorite theory I've heard so far is that the starters will follow that theme and have a connection to France. The starters that theory suggested were Serperior, Empoleon, and Cinderace. Serperior for its Fleur-de-lis inspired design, Empoleon for being based on napoleon, and Cinderace because soccer.
I feel like Sprigatito is too new of a starter to have people choose from again so soon. Your other picks are good, especially for Piplup with Empoleon obviously inspired by Napoleon, but for a Grass starter I would go with Snivy since Serperior looks like a French royal with its color.
To keep it simple we will get 3 of the remaining 6 Legends starters from their respective generations so either Snivy Litten Totodile or Chikorita Tepig Poplio

People are guessing scorbunny, though they definitely think piplup is the water starter and snivy is the grass starter for Pokémon Legends Z-A, also stop thinking about knights and start thinking French, that's why people are definite about snivy and piplup, snivy's final stage is based on a famous French lady and empoleon in based on napoleon

It generates energy from sunlight, then amplifies that energy dozens of times within its long body. Violet. An intimidating gaze and majestic appearance have caused this Pokémon to be known as the Lord of the Forest.
I've kinda been riding the bandwagon of Snivy, Scorbunny and Piplup being the Legends trio for Z-A. However thinking about it, Sprigatito makes sense here as well since Meowscarada's whole thing is being a Masquerading Magician. That whole motif can easily be shifted to a royal jester/entertainer that would be a good fit for medieval Kalos. You could argue the same for Poplio as well. Musicians and Bards play a massive role in Medieval fantasy settings so it wouldn't be impossible to make a regional variant of Primarina. (Also Primarina could definitely use more love compared to the other members of the Alola trio.) I currently don't see any other fire starters filling the role as well as Scorbunny but if I had to pick. I'd go with Tepig. I'm not sure what they'd do with him but it feels like a missed opportunity to not do anything with that line of Pokemon. So for your consideration- Z-A trio 1: Snivy, Scorbunny and Piplup Z-A trio 2: Sprigatito. Tepig and Poplio Or some kind of mix of these 2 trios. (I'm not 100% locked in on either one right now.) I doubt they'd get Mega evolutions. (That's probably reserved for the Kalos Starters.) I'll bet on regional variants for these groups.
All of these are very likely options though I'm not the biggest fan of messing around with Empoleon since the Pokemon already has an incredible typing and really nice abilities. Mechanically, Mega evolution wouldn't do much more than give it a stat boost. That's the big reason why I really want the monotype starters to get Megas because there's so much more room for interesting ideas, especially with mons like Serperior and Feraligatr that already have interesting strategies that could be easily modified by Mega evolution. Mind you, we do have a few starters like Incineroar, Emboar and Infernape that all feel very similar to one another, so a more distinct take on any of those would be greatly appreciated, even if that's more likely on a regional variant than a Mega evolution
There was no visible pattern on the Arceus' starters, but they were kinda meant to fit with ancient Japan, with Samurott being a samurai, Decidueye an archer, and Typhlosion because apparently volcanoes are important in Japanese culture So I guess because Z-A will be a Kalos game, they'll pick French looking Pokémon as starters, reason why I stand for the popular theory that Piplup and Snivy are the choices, due to Empoleon being literally Napoleon Bonaparte, and Serperior being a French aristocrat (also was influenced by an anime based on France) Only think I'm not sure is about the Fire starter, on the theory is said it could be Torchic because apparently the rooster is France's National animal (guess they would make a regional Blaziken to make a new Mega for it), but still not really buying it Those are also the Pokémon that appeared alongside the Hisui starters on an Indigo Disk trailer BTW
Here’s my issue with the whole “French/Knightly aesthetic” thing. We didnt know that the hisui starters would have this 19th century japanese aesthetic to them until they got revealed in the game. With the exception of Oshawott because of the whole samurai/sword theme with it. Just because a starter doesnt have a knightly vibe to them doesnt rule out them being a starter. We all know how unpredictable Pokemon is. Normal Decidueye and Typhlosion didnt give off no sort of edo-period vibe. We couldn’t tell until we seen them fully evolved. I mean yeah it makes sense for piplup and snivy to be the water and grass starter of the game, but we could get pretty much anything that doesnt have a mega or that wasnt a starter in a past legends game.
12:08 Pfff I chose Sobble, a lizard with an aqua sniper rifle as a gigantamax is way better then a rabbit standing on a ball of fire. Lockstin predicts Sobble, Tepig, and Chickorita. Though he focused more on the kalosian forms for the starters instead of megas. Snivy is a good contender because of it's regal attitude.
No disrepect to intelleon…. But a Cincerace standing on a giant ball of fire straight out if Final Fantasy is raw as hell 😭 But those are also fair options, I think Chikroita gets sidelined way too much
Well that explains it, I haven't played any of Final Fantasy. I tried playing FF9 but got bored of the combat. I do agree that Chickorita is hated on too much, if it had better abilities like Thick Fat or Triage to become more of a supportive tank, maybe get the Fairy typing.@@SoulStoryMode

I think if the setting is based in lumios city then it will be based on France. I don’t think it’s necessarily going to be just based on medieval and knights. So knowing this, I would say the water and grass types are pretty clear. Piplup and snivy. The tricky part is they most likely are not gonna pick somebody who has mega evolution for the fire starter or from generation six . I think it’s gonna be three different generations also. Most likely they will not give a Pokémon from generation nine because they did not do it with generation eight with legends Arceus. So realistically, we are talking about generation seven and generation eight. Scorbunny makes the most sense because of France and their love of soccer especially with the lack of fire type options that make sense.
I don't think it'll be a medieval aesthetic, I think it'll be a 1700-1800 Parisian aesthetic, Marie Antoinette vibes. I can see it being Popplio, Sprigatiton (with a lethargic cat aesthetic as its final evolution lol) and tepig

Was not happy with SV I even skipped the dlc, this time I wont buy day one and just watch a streamer if pokemon and gamefreak still continue to push a cheaply made game on us this might be the 1st time I pass on a gen.

The swords of justice could be made available for capture in Pokémon Legends Z-A. They are based off of _The Three Musketeers_ after all.
