Hello friends! This video is kinda old now, but it was brought to my attention that the inks included in this box/video are technically a Calligraphy Ink not an Acrylic Ink like I stated in the video, this is description from the Roher & Klingner website: "Rohrers pigmented calligraphy ink is produced with modern raw materials, namely acrylic resin and highly pigmented colorants." Regardless, the techniques I talk about still apply!
as one who has done the online classes with my children through various avenues, I will agree with you! The amount of assignments and work expected of my children who were only in pre k and kindergarten at the time, and again we attempted this in first and kindergarten but anyways it was just unreal the expectations set for completion each day for such small children. Going to school never returned them with as much of an expectation of completing daily works/homework. just wanted to throw out an agreement from personal experience and relay my sympathy. Hang in there! (not to sound like a conspiracy quack but in all my experiences it really felt as though it was almost a constant intentional deterrent from schooling children at home.... and now in this current situation we're all in that boat experiencing those unrealistic school work loads. maybe people realizing this will spur some change. Good luck! )
I actually debated getting one of these when she announced and held back, I have all the regrets! Thankfully she is restocking them this month. Thanks for another inspiring video, you are so awesome!
@@victoriacg9184 But they will return in June! I think is what the website said, hopefully I will have the $115 dollars available to purchase it by then :D
Ahhhhh the painting looks amazing! I usually work in a more muted, earthy palette so it's cool to see how other artists achieve such clean colors! Also, your mermaid looks like she up to something lol
Ugh.. My favorite part of every video Heikala made is when she is removing the masking fluid using the other tip of the brush without any damages to the paper.. So satisfying..
This was an absolute joy to watch, the music and your attention to details blended so well. Watching you paint the character to life to an acoustic song cured my insomnia.
Oh my god. You worded it as best as I could understand it. With a clean wet brush, soften the edges of the paint blob!!! That’s how I’ve needed to do it!
I always enjoy watercolor videos because they’re mesmerizing, but I usually don’t understand a thing. But somehow watching your process made some sense to me. Which is pleasant.
I've been binge-watching Heikala's process clips on IG in hopes to have some of that greatness rub off on me XD Trying to get better at watercolor during Mermay and my appreciation for her skill keeps goin' up as I struggle to even get a single smooth wash haha. This piece is BEAUTIFUL, wonderful review too. Hope I can afford a box some time
Great video. Love the piece you made with the supplies very vibrant. I love Heikala! I purchased the inks from germany a couple months ago but have yet to use them....this is encouraging me to get them out and play with them sooner rather than later!
This is lovely and informative as well as fun to watch now I have an understanding on how to use acrylic inks that I just purchased recently! Great work as usual!
This is gorgeous, I always draw while I watch other people draw. It creates like a sense of having someone there with me while having inspiration and I’ll definitely visit your channel and this video again
I'm so in love with the colors you used, my goodness!! When I first saw you put that blue shade on the bottom, I was so impressed. These paints have gorgeous vibrancy
This is beautiful! The scales look especially incredible! You can really tell you took your time on this piece and put so much care and attention into it.
This piece turned out so nice and what an awesome art box! When you went in with those white highlights for the water and such... the piece just like came to life it's so beautiful, nice job and thanks so much again for sharing.
This will be my first year doing mermay and it came exactly when I needed it. I haven't drawn in a week or so. I'll try to make it through the month, but it probably won't happen.
This may be one of my favourite pieces of yours! Your glazing technique was just fantastic and the water came out looking so good, not to mention how beautiful the mermaid looks 😭 I love your style so much ❤❤❤
nice process explanation :) curious though why use coloured pencils instead of straight up graphite if you're going to just ink immediately before painting? [ Also, am curious how you find SW CP paper for watercolour - I find that there is a subtle dulling down of colours, but I love their hot press papers ]
One of the most frustrating thing when you wanna draw : Being able not imagine beautiful scenes but not being to put it on the paper due to thr lack in techniques or in drawing ;_;...
I know this is an old coment, but don't be afraid to use reference for your drawings!! You can have an idea and search for references, like flowers, water paintings, other artists paitings and create like a "moodboard" for your own style or one specific painting! Hope it helps, don't let it stop from drawing!!1
@@lelaticia4250 oh don't worry, it's not about not having ideas or not knowing how to draw something (like the anatomy of something), it's about knowing that, but not having the technique to do it.
If you struggle to get the adhesive off the edges of the paper you can always run a black brush marker along the edge. I'm mainly thinking of the brush marker Faber-Castell makes, you'd have to be super careful.
this is so beautiful, it makes me want to get it tattooed on my body. The saturation and overall vibrancy of this work makes me honestly just mesmerized.
In Brazil we have this story about an indian girl, Iara, who is killed by her brothers and thrown into the Amazonas River. The river turns her into a mermaid and she takes revenge on her brothers. Your draw reminds me about her and how awesome the story is.
I find using ink over watercolor paper very similar to using hot pressed watercolor paper. Is very difficult to lift the color from that paper, and its very smooth and satinated. I find myself using the wet&wet technique on that paper as you did here with the inks! Maybe I should try using ink in the future, because I like the effect they have. Thanks for the vid!
@@imawonder c'mon!! You deserve all the compliments. And you're the kindest one here. You literally worked so hard on the painting, filmed it, edited it and posted it for us! You're amazing. ❤️
This is absolutely gorgeous ..You explained the journey throughout the painting perfectly ,and the end result is spectacular..It’s great you explained the layers as not all artists do ,and when your a beginner it’s a bit like magic ,and you don’t really understand that..I know but it’s great you added why you have vibrant colours etc 😀
Omg this is amazing! I'm lowkey jelly haha, I really wanted to get one of her boxes as well, but it sold out so quickly on both drops ;O; unless she did a 3rd drop that I missed haha? Anyway, the illustration turned out so nice! I'm dying to get one of these at the next drop, hopefully I don't miss it hehe
Hahaha yea they sell out so fast! I literally went to her website the second it went live I believe she's doing a third drop sometime this month!! Thanks so much girl!

Not sure if you’ll see this message, but are they the same as india inks? Thanks for all your beautiful, inspiring videos xox
which other inks do y0ou use for painting? i cant find this brand in my country :c
this is a good example on how to take inspiration from other people's art without copying it
And also crediting them.
Me: wants to participate in mermay
Also me: online classes give us more work than when we were in school and imma fail.
Awww thats a bummer! Education first tho!
I know right, I get so much more work now than before
Glamouroki ong 😭
