Man, this is very inspiring for me! The way you connect with people is so natural... It´s not all about Camera settings, it´s all about the whole meaning of a picture and a story. Congratulations Pete !!!
Pete, what a great video. You truly captined the spirit of Malaysia and the warmth of the Malay people. I spent many years in KL as a staff of Malaysia Airlines and Kampung Baru was the view from my 30th floor window of my condo. It was amazing to see this modern vibrant city and a traditional Malay Kampung right in the middle of it. Malaysia is one of the greatest places on earth and I miss it very much. Greetings from Seattle. :):)
Kampung baru is one of the largest malay settlements in KL. They have a lot of delicious eateries and old malay wooden house. Actually there are many malay settlements in KL but many was take over by the government and their house is replaced with apartments and condominiums depending on which area.
This is quality content! I might be biased being a malaysian and all, but I do like how you speak and interact with the local. I also like very much the tone of the video, very relaxing and laid back. And the picture speaks a thousand words. Sakinah hugging the 'pillar' of the house (sorry I can't think of another word of the thing she was hugging) and the Twin Tower shining brightly in the background. It is a very beautiful picture indeed. I love it!
Kampung baru is the last Malay Villages or Malay rural community in Kuala Lumpur sir. Have fun there. If you want to see more fun i recommend you to visit Kampung Morten in Melaka. Nearby the Melaka Riverbank. A Traditional Village in the middle of city. Cheers.
Hi Ana. Yes, you can find me on Instagram: @petedemarco or Facebook: facebook.com/PeteDeMarcoPhotography/. I'm also on Flickr under my name but haven't used it in years.
How cool it must be to meet and talk to the people in these 'foreign' lands. They share some things we do, but, it isn't always as we remember them. Like the music. It's cool to see this! I have a friend who lived in India for 20 years. I can listen to her stories all day!
The Malays are very friendly, they can just invite you to their house. Btw, the government has been trying very hard for a long time to acquire the lands to develop the place but the Malays there opposed it. They want to retain the last Malay village in KL.
Really thank you Pete and i appreciate your efforts, it has been long time of completing video about Kuala Lumpur until the end because almost all of them have the same content, but you went out of the box Thanks again..
10:44 the house has been in the movie if i'm not mistaken... more than once the house show up in film... this house must be famous with the twin tower back ground...
the background music u used in this video is so calm and relaxing. can i know the title of the music? the guitar strumming is so beautiful and it matches every footage in your video. love from malaysia 😍
To all KAMPUNG BARU PEOPLE Whatever happened please dont sell the land to developer... Keep as legacy of "KAMPUNG" middle of KL, the GOV should help these people on funds raising the beautiful of kampung, not with mall or hi-resident building and local people can't afford to stay if that happened :(
If only Tunku Abdul Rahman is still alive, he would've been angrier than The Incredible Hulk because he hates seeing a single high-rise building, let alone hundreds of mega-tall skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur...

That's great to hear Julien! The people here in Malaysia are super kind. That makes it much easier to connect. Thanks for your comment.

Go to Masjid Jamek River Front at night and shoot the Blue River.
Thank you for the tip Larry.
Why would you waste money at Bukit Bintang when you can totally appreciate the blend of traditional and modern architecture in Kampung Baru? 😍
If you have a chance, go to Kampung Morten Melaka and see how they preserve it
10:44 the house has been in the movie if i'm not mistaken... more than once the house show up in film... this house must be famous with the twin tower back ground...

Been coming back for 11 years now hermano. LOL.

Right. I average a video every 3-6 months I think. For whatever reason I start and then stop soon after.

Selamat kn lh kg baru jangan Di jual
Land value know is RM7 billion
'Politic is money
In politics u make money
Money is Power'
emmm...clearly their attitude
their sacred direction
Someone once said "If you happen to meet Khalid Samad outside of Kampung Baru, just spit on his face a lot of times!"
They are rich ...the area worth 2.2 billion for developer
So respectfully. they kiss ur hand.
Let Kampung Baru be, they want to build skyscrapers on it. Isnt it unique to have city and village merged together. Kemon ah
