- Qatar Airways wants to reportedly purchase 20% of Virgin Australia as it continues to try and expand its presence in the Australian market. Meanwhile, Lufthansa Group says it'll add a surcharge of up to €72 per passenger as it implements SAF into its flying from 2025 onwards. Lastly, Jetstar has announced plans to launch flights between Sunshine Coast and Cairns, a previously operated route by the collapsed Bonza.

Phew! Our next LH flight is before Jan. 1...
This is off topic. Canada's AirTransat has wet leased an A340-300 from Hifly Ltd.. I was quite surprised when I saw it coming into CYYZ on June 30th. As far as I know it was the first A340 to come to CYYZ in quite a while. Now makes CYYZ only one of 10 airports to get the A380, 747 and A340 on a regular schedule.
Off Topic BUT Interesting. DJS is an ideal forum because it so so informative as a channel, well it is to me without the contacts that some here clearly have.
Taxes over taxes, thanks EU ! The customer is the only victime and the additional taxes will not help the research of more sustainable travel.
The EU needs the money to keep AB a float!
@@stevesmoneypit6137 Maybe if it’s the case still better than FAA hiding facts leading to death of hindered of passengers.
Thanks for the updates Dj!!
Lufthansa services relative to air fares are despicable and odious especially on domestic and EU routes.
Premium prices for low cost services xD
I had a Gig in Munich for a while and few every 3 Weeks between California and Germany.
My choice (though same Company), was Swiss Business Class.
In other words, if I need to get to Europe, I shop around. Once on the Continent, there are plenty of options to get to where you need to go.
Last time i flew itnit was far better than BA. In regards to BA, might as well have flown ryan air.
Sure is nice seeing LH Queen!
Well that puts Lufthansa out of my choices
Surcharges for environmental reasons is kinda BS, glad I'm not in the EU. Half the environmentalist prob hop on their private jet to fly to the next meeting.
wow I agree with MR. Joyce on something
Like Virgin Australia's simple livery (2nd)
Totally Agree.
Wonder if it may prompt Qantas to leave OW especially if Emirates finally joins an alliance...
I was silver with Qantas from 2019 expiring on September 2024. Qantas is too expensive to even afford travel so this year I switched to Qatar airways I earned Silver with privilege club, I feel Qatar airways is better and it'd benefit Australian air travel
I am surprised that it has taken so long for some foreign airline to buy in to Virgin Australia. Maybe Qantas will now have some real competition.
Nice🇸🇦
No comment about the approved merger of Lufthansa and ITA 😮
Let’s see how long DJs Aviation will take on he’s video about Lufthansa aging a 41% in ITA
How long before you @carlwatson start a channel up and do your own take on lufthansa
@@Ray-dm1xf how long before you do a video you go first FOOL then I’ll follow
Unless other European airlines will be adding the surcharge, most passengers will see the fees as being pure profit for Lufthansa.
With a decline in their quality of service that includes upcoming smaller seats, lower quality inflight service and now basically higher fares, it will be seen as evidence of more greed from the German carrier.
I'm frustrated by Lufthansa to increase prices for all flights departing from Europe. As a result, my companion will mostly prefer to travel in Economy Class instead of Premium Economy. I don't like traveling in Economy Class because I hate having one or two more passengers sitting, but I like traveling in Premium Economy because I enjoy sitting with each other.
Best using a business jet then 😀
@@Paul_Greenwood_ No way!😠
Please don't mention Alan Joyce I was just getting used to not seeing him again.
€72 is insane. €1-10 is reasonable but €72 is crazy
If you consider that is mainly for business / first class...not really that high
€1-10 is for first and business. Cattle car call gets the €72 😂
Qatar should just fly their A380 on routes to Australia
LH should absorb a mere 2% increase in costs for SAF - part of the cost of doing business these days.
I think its about time the oil companies stop drilling holes and start producing a better fuel, bio/sustainable by any name. Every country can do this with the amount of waste that goes into the ground, VIRGIN flew a 747 from london to amsterdam a few years back on such fuel. So you producers start thinking of what you can do rather than filling your pockets. And no Im not a tree hugger or eco freek I just think that everyones future in aviation could gain big time.
It ruins the soil , it's expensive to produce , waste from crops to produce the fuel so oil is here to stay
I just read today that Shell had a hold on a huge SAF-plant on Rotterdam (NL) which was originaly intended to start producing next year. Now they are aiming for the 2030's, if technology improves by then.
@@claymag9803 I think they will hold off as long as possible, reason MONEY, none of them want to make the move to advance the tech, giving the engine manufacturers reason to build or convert for new fuel, a tweek I believe that is not that big. Airlines Im sure would want to save money but once this fuel has started to flow the possibilities would be endless, there lies the problem no-one wants to be first to invest their money, it has to start somewhere.
Good Intentions and Government Mandates have always driven up the prices of services so this should come as a surprise to anyone. IF you think this is a good idea ask the people who live in California what happened when their state legislature forced the use of more electric vehicles. Bureaucrats have destroyed many of industries and wealthy people. If the airline industry don't put these zealots in their place they will be the nest to fall only to discover let's say ten years later. Boy were we played where did all those fees go?
First and also great vid as always
I dont care about SAF. Its all a gimmick.
I liked my own comment
