Ah I really felt your pain on your off day! When I have days like that I end up crying! I could feel how highly emotional this was for you too! I got stuck in a white out in Morzine. Couldn't see a single thing, lost everyone and also my skies which decided were not fitting right (the bracket had moved!) had come off. A woman who I'd just met came to help me with her friend and she talked me through the process of skiing down safely. We got to the bubble and she said I could jump in there but I was so proud of my achievement that I skied right down to the red run that sits in front of the bar that everyone goes to for apres and watches people rolling down to the bottom! I have never been so elated and relieved to take my skies off and get a vin chaud 🥰🥰
One thing you need to do is face down the hill and just move the lower half. Keep over the fronts of the skis and remember that bobbin down or up takes the weight of the skis so that you can turn them better. How I wish I was doing that. We had great fun there is Les Gets staying at what we called the cowshed, near a lift powered by a diesel engine that the operator who lived next door to us would keep open till it was well dark.
I went to Morzine way back in 1990 when I was about your age and it was only my 2nd skiing holiday. Me and my sis took one look at the wall and both of us thought Holy S**T!! It was more like a cliff than a slope. In the intervening years I’ve skied plenty of blacks but wouldn’t dream of attempting the Wall (even if I was young again)
It always gets me the same…think I’ve cracked it and then lose concentration for a second, catch an edge and then I’m head over heels. Falling on compacted groomed pistes at speed can hurt contrary to what people might think.
I go to Morzine all the time it’s nice to see it in yt videos I did my first red run in Saint-Jean-d’Aulps which is a few mins away from the town hopefully I can go back after the pandemic
Hey, I’m looking to go this season. My friend said one piece of advice is go to resorts that are big enough for u to try loads of stuff on ur ski season since you’re there for a long timr. I’m guessing since it’s France to Switzerland it’s a big resort but no harm in asking you too? Thankyou for your help
There are loads of resorts right across France, Switzerland and the rest of the alps. The ski pass I had was great because I didn’t even manage to ski on all the places we had access to!
Great video, I love this interesting perspective of the mountains!⛰ Thanks for sharing, new friend here from Canada! 🇨🇦 Feel free to check out my travel vlogs if your interested!

Snowflake 😂
Love this. Going to Morzine in January so this got me in the mood.
Did you go down the Swiss Wall Robbie?

The black you did there at portes du soleil was the first black I’ve ever done! It’s not as bad as I thought it would be 😂
Yeah it turned out to be a really nice run!
I did the Swiss Wall twice when I was in my thirties. When I was back in Chatel ten years later, I didn't dare to try it again...
i would recommend lessons a private guide would really help i was a lot older when i started would have been lost without ski school
Great vlog! I’ve just come back from Morzine - my favourite place to ski! But definitely not keen on the Swiss wall!
Thank you!! Hope you had a great time!

Jamie Lowe oh wow okay thankyou, was there anything bad to say about it maybe?
Sensei GB only that I maybe didn’t go back and ski some of the runs I really enjoyed because I was trying to ski on every possible area
the avoriaze les gets and morzine area is really good if u want to ski lots of different as there are 10+ ski resorts close by
@notformebeaky u have Aiguille du Midi in chamonix close by which is good for advanced free ride skiing
Fab.....how do you manage your sugar levels during activity
I check often and make sure I’ve got snacks on me. I try not to let diabetes stop me from doing activities 😃
Jamie Lowe I showed your video to my 9 year old type 1 and it really motivated her thanks
That’s so great to hear! Thank you
I have the exact same skiis as you but smaller
I hired them! Not mine, I think they were a bit big for me tbh
@@JamieLoweTV I also hired mine
90% gradient?????
A red run with 3 weeks skiing under your belt is a big ask.
What are the Covid restrictions like
Take lésions, I've you don't control your mouvement ts and speed you're a danger from yourself, but also for the OTHERS.... take care
