Just ordered my Apollo x8 gen 2 today and sold my Apollo x8p gen 1 and 1176 LN I’m also moving towards the recallable gear and more stereo gear that better serves me I feel you bro
Recall is a big thing if you have a lot of work and you have to move fast from project to project. I’ve gotten away from analog gear many many years ago and I’m amazed that more people haven’t done the same sooner. The sound difference from Plugin is it worth in my opinion the hassle and the time it takes to recall a project(s)… Bops unfortunately don’t know enough care with their Bluetooth and cell phone speakers (It still amazes me till this day that no one has a decent stereo system in their house). Now if money was no issue, I would look in to only analog recallable gear and run test against my best plug-ins to see if the overall sound quality and speed of getting to where I need to be matches the price difference. If it doesn’t, the analog gear goes back cause it’s just gonna get older and lose value overtime as plug-ins and computer power get better and better. Anyone can get a great mix and master with plug-ins if you know what you’re doing and the key phrase is, “If you know what you’re doing”. So the sound quality would have to be a huge difference for someone like myself for me to keep that expensive gear. That Wes Audio and Tegler gear looks dope 😎as hell though…everything else, I wouldn’t even look twice cause I don’t have the time.
I'm doing the SAME THING except for the stuff thats set and forget. I can't wait till recallable equipment is more common and at least a lil less expensive. So far I have the tegeler creme and wes audio is next but looking at the tegeler schwerkraft maybe.
I love analoge gear. I use a soundtracs jade mixing console. With rack gear . Soundmodules.... Reverbs sony v77. And Roland srv330 and avalon vt737sp and ad2022 Apogee symphony mk1. Best sound 🙂
Doing the same thing but i still keep my fatso and RND 542. I hope to see an Wes equivalent soon. I've been thinking about replacing my xlogic G bus for a ngcomp for 2 years. but man 3u !
you must have god plugins. I have experimented with both and analog always win plugins do sound pristine but. The gear sounds clearer and more character
💯 Recallable analog unit is the future! You want to get rid of the calypso module because you use your Apollo instead but is the calypso any good? in terms of conversion etc..?
@@2probeats I tried the x6 but for the money, I wasn’t impressed, I have the new Motu 828, which is great, I’d like to try out the new apogee symphony tho.
In general I find that analog gear is just hella slow to work without a large return vs the plug in counterpart if its available rather your using it for mixing purposes(like you do) or sound design(like I do) renders is just to long of a process
@@2probeats Having a x4 for the moment but not really fan of the monitoring. i get a more "triangle" image when slaved to a 2192 but want to update the center piece and keep the 2192 aside.
it's easier to get rid of gear when you're getting MFR freebies, I'm guessing your're going to say the freebie sounds better than the RME in the "shootout". Constructive critisicm, jerky video edits are quite jarring to watch........
I think you are new here. My opinion is not for sale, I can get sponsored or get free stuff but if the gear is not good I’m not endorse it. My move from RME is not due to sound and I’ve made that clear in other videos. Your criticism is not even close to constructive 😂
Yes, there is no more paper and pens and no one can write a recall sheet anymore .. in other words : "BUY WesAudio and Cranborne stuff". yet another marketing guy selling his hardware just for plugin bundle !!! If you want your sanity, get off social media.
I am here to share my experience and my journey. Why is so hard for some people to understand that we are not the same? Pen and paper? That’s just not what I want to do. I value my time and it’s a decision I am willing to make. No marketing
Have you even been following his gear journey? Theres been so many different setups before this with every variation of gear. This move makes perfect sense for someone who is mixing every day and many others who are mixing every day has gone the same way. It doesnt makes sense for me who only wants to mix my own stuff. I only own one such unit, wes ng76. Usually its wes, cranborne, tegeler, bettermaker. Others go McDSP APB. There will only be more and more digitally controlled analog gear in the future.
Absolutely, this is an excellent choice! While I don't currently use any analog gear, if I were to invest in some, Wes Audio would be my top pick.
Smart move 💙💛
Maaan selling Phoenix… where you at? I’ll buy it! I have one - i want another one! One of the greatest pieces!

How much did you sell your X8 GEN 1 for?
@ 1600 to guitar center
I’m happy with the Apollos.

That is a nice compressor for sure!
where are you selling
Trying to sell locally first but if you are interested in anything you can reach out. Cheers

When it comes to the sound I love it.
Wes should do a recallabe timbre or stereo/dual mono vari-mu in rack format.
Waiting for something like that 🙏🏻
wow 🤯 you moving away from RME
Yes, having issues with it on my system and I far prefer how simple the Apollo is.
Doing the same thing but i still keep my fatso and RND 542.

That might be the case but plugins have other advantages.

Calypso is great but I might use the apollo just to get an extra module space.
@ I get it, you can use the slot for another one instead and they have some great modules. Thanks for your reply.keep up the good work !
you need to test theese Studio & Recording Studio Monitors Active Monitors PMC PMC
PMC PMC6-2 Powered Studio Monitor or MC PMC8-2 Dual 8-inch???
No demo units floating around Romania :(
Interesting to hear you’re running with the Apollo interface, not my choice, but different strokes as they say.
I like to test the gear I get and it’s almost a month since I am running the Apollos without anything else and they are pretty solid.

Which speaker stands do yoh use?
Buso audio speaker stands

considering to move on prism lyra 2 or gen 2 for mix/mastering, any thoughts?
I haven’t heard the prism converter but they get high praise so I think you are safe to move in that direction.
Cheers

Fancy a Titan myself
I am doing the samething man. I am waiting for the NG2A😂
That would be nice!
The question is why buy it in the first place
No Bettermaker???
Not yet but I plan to get in the studio the 2.0 limiter
@@2probeats their EQ is not bad either…
Your video i looking washed. What happens
Daw tool over
?
I'm with you 1000% brother, make my life easier, I was where you are, and I definitely ain't going back, easy recall is worth it.
No doubt
Yeah sell them and invest in acoustics and monitors! The better the monitoring the less fooled by gear or “mojo” bullshit!
That’s a good advice

I hear ya, I will not buy any analog gear without recall. Hopefully we'll see a limiter from Wes.
The NG bus comp has an inf. Ratio, but now quite the same
I think the bettermaker is a great choise and it has recall but a wes limiter hmm that would be amazing
