Welcome to Morocco Leesa, I hope you enjoyed your experience despite the scams, tourists scam is a huge problem in Morocco the last few years, I hope something will be done to stop that because it's getting out of control...sorry you had to experience that :/

I also hope something will be done about the tourist scams because Morocco is such a beautiful country and it would be a shame for people to stop visiting simply because of experiences like mine :(

We actually returned to Fes, and flew out from there!

Glad you enjoyed watching! We returned to Fes, and flew out from there. I would recommend staying overnight in Chefchaouen/Blue Village and taking the bus back to Fes the next day if possible.

Not at all! We didn’t carry a lot with us (just hand luggage) so that made it easy to get around
If I’m planning to go Sahara desert trip then should I book my hotel in markesh only the days I’m staying or for the whole trip as I think Sahara desert trip included accommodation etc.
My plan for 7 days so Desert trip 3 days and rest of the day I would like to stay in markesh but will go Casablanca for day trip so please give me idea for hotel booking ….thanks
Yes usually accommodation is included in any Sahara desert tour!
Hello, thank you for all the info. I'm looking to visit Morocco this year. I wonder, did you take tour during all your time in Morocco or just in some places? I had the the same scam experience during my time in Egypt but back in that time I went by my self so I don't know is going with a tour guided will help to avoid those scams.
We only took a tour when seeing the Sahara Desert (the 3 day tour in the middle of the trip). We also got a day tour guide for a few hours on our first day in Marrakech, but that also had some scammy elements to it (e.g. taking us to shops where he knew the owners), so we ended up doing everything else ourselves which was a much nicer experience!
I was all set to add Marokko to my bucket list until I got to the end of the video.... did you see any solo female travelers? That's my biggest concern being a female alone in a place which is maybe not that female or foreigner friendly.
I think it really depends on how comfortable you might be with unwanted attention, or ability to assert yourself in situations where people are a bit pushy. As I said in the video, as far as I know the interactions never get actually violent but they can be upsetting or uncomfortable if you’re not used to it. The smaller the city, the less you’ll be bothered (chefchaoen was a very positive experience). I would also look into hiring a guide for the day/when visiting the markets - this helps a lot. I don't know why do people go to Marrakech and chose to skip Essaouira 🙄?
Because most tourists like to visit the biggest most famous cities first and don’t have all the time in the world to visit every single other city 🙄
Don’t answer and don’t respond to any hassler. Just keep walking. Keep your hands crossed and folded up in your chest, so no one can pull your hands and draw the craps on your hands.

Hello Leesa, I came from your living in Netherlands video. I want to immigrate there permanently since my country law towards gay people is prison and whips😢. But I'm second guessing my decisions since I saw a lot of comments saying the tax is high as a scam.
Would you or any kind person in this comment section reccomend me on where to go? Or is Netherlands somewhat ok from the rumor?😔
The taxes are high in the Netherlands but everything works (nearly) perfectly! I would say it’s one of the most well organised and efficient countries in Europe. So you get what you pay for :)

Would you travel there solo?
I think it really depends on the kind of person you are. Personally I was glad to visit with my husband. I am a short petite woman, am not very assertive in general, and absolutely can’t stand unwanted attention or any kind of aggression (even if it’s harmless). But others may be less bothered by these things, or maybe physically you might stick out less as a tourist. If I was to go back, I would skip Marrakech and Fes, and go to the smaller cities which I have heard are more chilled.
Marrakech can be nasty at night for a solo girl...I'm Moroccan from Casablanca and I love Marrakech, but don't recommend to go there at night even with a group of girls...if you have no choice make sure you get a male tour guide, Casablanca, Rabat and northern cities are safer
In any case, the tourist scams in Morocco will usually cost less than the "normal prices" in Europe 😉
Haha that’s true 😂 but it’s less about the money, and more about sometimes not feeling respected as a person. The tourist scams sometimes make you feel unnecessarily scared or unwelcome, which is not a nice feeling!
