    I agree. In those days those nasty old Russians were using a special drug called Borschtabol. It was some kind of special root vegetable based anabolic that made them really strong. Americans never caught on. They use to use that Hoffman protein powder and eat some Tiger Bars and that was about it. Although I heard once that some American super named Equipoiseski had made a 220 kilo snatch in training, but sadly snapped both patellar tendons and had to retire.

    @1967tuncay I bet he did it in training, when he got his 210kg he didn't seem terribly excited. Might just be focus, but I have a feeling he's done a lot more in training.

  • @Nikodhemus
    @Nikodhemus 12 лет назад +2

    Yes, they are, as everyone else is. There is a reason why all the world records dropped (quite far) down in the early 90s after they started with stricter testing. 20 years later, we still haven't reached the same weights in most classes. Not saying they are NOT using steroids, but certainly less, or at least different types and in different ways.

    At one time the USSR seemed to be mass producing Olympic lifters and this fellow came from this crop.
    After his lifting days he made the same mistake as so many didn't cut his weight and looked just terribly old while still relatively young..
    So many did the same including the great Vasily Alexeev.
