Jury returns split verdict in Marilyn Mosby's mortgage fraud trial

- Despite being described as a real estate rookie who trusted her family and professionals, a federal jury found former Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby not guilty of Kissimmee federal mortgage fraud but guilty of the Longboat Key charge Tuesday afternoon.
The verdict was read to the court just after 5:30 p.m. after 6 hours of deliberations. The decision came after nine days of testimony and during the fourth week of the trial. Mosby was accused of making a string of false statements when she bought two vacation homes in Florida in 2020 and 2021.
The mortgage fraud trial came after Mosby was convicted of two federal perjury charges in November after a jury determined the former top prosecutor in Baltimore City lied on forms to withdraw money from her city-retirement account citing a COVID-era financial hardship when she didn’t suffer financially. The money she withdrew from the retirement account was then used as down payments on the homes in question during the mortgage fraud trial.

True. I worked at a financial company that administers 401k’s and people would lie a lot to try to get a hardship withdrawal.

Unlike retirement systems in other countries, the 401k has too many allowances for early withdrawals. (Leakage) Then like everything else in American society, Americans are quick to invoke their rights: “It’s my money”, “I have a right to do this”, “I have a right to do that”….

The gift letter issue is puzzling to me. Except am missing something. They were married, so it cannot be proved beyond a reasonable doubt that he had money in her account which she simply transferred to his and then he gifted her back. Or she was simply owing him and repaid and then he gifted her back🤔 Also check boxes are notoriously susceptible to error, so how can it be proved that ir was not simply a clerical mistake. Especially since the second mortgage that she was found not guilty off appears to have been done correctly. The value of the alleged fraud $5k does not seem to justify the 100’s of thousands of dollars been spent on the case. There does not appear to be any monetary victim in this so called fraud… no monies was lost.

I live in Florida don't really watch the news that much but this happened to pop up on RUclips, I hate to see things happen like this to such a pretty lady maybe there is more sides to the story maybe she got mixed up and involved in something. As a Black woman, who is also a Christian, I am sick of seeing Black people praying for guilty people to get out of legal trouble just because they are Black. This has nothing to do with her race. The evidence points to her guilt and instead of cliche “God is lawyer in the courtroom,” prayers, they should be praying that God’s WILL be done and leading Marilyn to repentance. It’s better to repent now and be “embarrassed” in front on man, than to have to stand before a Holy God and hear the words, “Depart from me. I knew you not!”

Well, well, well. I thought the name sounded familiar. She was the one that charged the six officers in the Freddie Gray case without a lick of evidence. They were eventually released without being prosecuted for lack of evidence including an independent DOJ investigation into it as a civil rights case. I invite everyone to corroborate these comments. Sure, these are unrelated crimes but I do believe her original indictments were done out of selfish and malevolent political posturing so very pleased that the Karma has caught up with her.
