It doesn't sound like the Russians had SAMs in that area. The Ukrainian woman suggested that it was the Patriot which would probably have been operated by Americans that shot down the F-16. This would actually make more sense given the only Russian missiles that deep in Ukrainian territory were the ground to ground cruise missiles which cannot retarget to hit aircraft unless the pilot literally flew into one of them by mistake.

The F16 might be flying too close to a Russian missile when it was hit by a Patriot missile. The resulting explosion of the missiles could have caused the fragmentation to hit the F16. Just my 2 cents worth.
If the pilot failed to eject, it was most likely hit by anti-air missile or in a dog fight, when in crashing pilots have highest probablity to be alive than being shoot than missile.
After a lifetime of being Ukrainian the pilot probably thought the stick was a shovel so he naturally grabbed it and shoved it into the ground to dig up the potatoes.

It doesn't sound like the Russians had SAMs in that area. The Ukrainian woman suggested that it was the Patriot which would probably have been operated by Americans that shot down the F-16. This would actually make more sense given the only Russian missiles that deep in Ukrainian territory were the ground to ground cruise missiles which cannot retarget to hit aircraft unless the pilot literally flew into one of them by mistake.
Why did he eject himself? Oh, the plane was shot down buy a Patriot Missile.
It is very foolish to use F16 to down the Russian missiles/drones. Because mistakes could happen, and the Ukraine air defense might down the F16.

The Airforce does not talk to the Army, or Navy, the Army does not talk to the Airforce or Navy and nobody communicates with the Airforce. The NATO concept of combined operations of a co-ordination offensive operations using Airforce, Army and navy as a military strategy has never even been heard of. Sounds very old Soviet-style military culture to me. I agree with Ukrainian lawmaker that the F-16 came down by friendly fire because of a lack of coordination and communication between military sectors...and it must have been blown up by a missile, because I have seen pilots eject literally shortly after take-off when a malfunction occurs.

This is the best Example of no matter what advance military equipment donated by the West to Ukraine is ineffective and no means to turn the tide of the war. Experience is the key no matter what, training pilots doesn't mean they can do everything for a short period of time. Plus Ukraine is inexperience to handles such things, F-16 shot down by Patriots? WTH are they doin' ? They beg for that multi million Jets and months of training just to crashed it because of friendly fire. Shame on them!

These planes were billed to be like in other instances "game changers" highly advanced aircraft & we were told the Russians have no chance of defending against these 'state of the art" aircraft.
i mean they aren't gonna be used for combat honestly, its most to combat missiles, they act as moving anti air platforms which is why its useful. literally both sides are locked on using their jets to full effect besides glide bombs.
They are game changers. Unlike Ukraine's Russian air force, the F-16 is made by the US but most importantly is fully compatible with UK, EU, French and Israeli weapons
Simple put, the F-16 can be armed virtually any western weapon with ease. Example, the US is considering the JASSM and JASSM-ER for Ukraine
As the F-16 is digital, that mod only only take days. If Germany wanted to supply KEPD-350s, easily added. There is very little that cant be fitted to the F-16

The F16 might be flying too close to a Russian missile when it was hit by a Patriot missile. The resulting explosion of the missiles could have caused the fragmentation to hit the F16. Just my 2 cents worth.
If the pilot failed to eject, it was most likely hit by anti-air missile or in a dog fight, when in crashing pilots have highest probablity to be alive than being shoot than missile.
After a lifetime of being Ukrainian the pilot probably thought the stick was a shovel so he naturally grabbed it and shoved it into the ground to dig up the potatoes.
