Yes! Glad you two are reacting to this. I absolutely loved the first episode of this, especially the last 15 minutes or so when the Dark Passenger arrives and you hear the iconic monologue in Dexter’s head. The show is back in good hands with Clyde Phillips running the show (showrunner for the first 4 seasons of the original series)
I *loved* this first episode. I got chills when Dexter's monologue finally started and that music kicked in during the killing scene. Plus, it was really amazing to see Michael C. Hall step back into this role after such a long time. I hope the rest of the season is just as good as this was. I'm looking forward to it. Also, I have this theory that Harrison isn't really Harrison and he's just a trap sent by someone else who's been trying to find him (like Jacob Elway from the final season). We'll see.

Loved the return of Dexter. Enjoyed watching him living a normal life with a lot of friends. But no matter how much his life changed, deep down he is still Dexter Morgan. It seemed cathartic for him to have that kill after so many years. You know that that suppressed desire had to be building up inside him.

I loved the references of the episode. The donuts,, the hammer time dance, the phone call right after a kill, the "Hello Dexter Morgan" line which was said by the Trinity killer, probably the best episode of the whole show, Jim is also a name that i can see Dexter using when "investigating". The ending theme was also really nostalgic, i remember how i was up all night binging Dexter a lot of years ago.

It's crazy seeing Dexter again after all of these years! This was a pretty good first episode. Definitely feels nostalgic with the haunting music and everything with Debra
It's opposite. The sun, sand, water and city has been replaced by a dreary snow covered little town in the mountains. He's fishing on a frozen lake instead of on the ocean in his boat. I love it. ( oh and he's dating someone that kinda looks like Deb and is also a cop - this season is going to be awesome 😝).
The white from snow and bright sunlight makes it not just another hard to see in the dark woods slasher show. The scenery is beautiful making the show’s possible terror easy to see up close. Like Miami you can see yourself vacationing there, even if you don’t like cold weather.
The first episode was great the second not so much. Looks like it is headed towards being a teen slasher show. I hope not. Too many of those shows on Netflix and Prime.

I'm calling it now , Harrison is just like his dad, baptized in his mothers blood and he unlike Dexter did not have Harry in his early development Dexter is going to try and step in as Harry to guide him, but the only question is will it work or will Harrison end up on the table.
showtime already released Harrison's bio description and its exactly that
Or will Harrison put his dad on the table. Then continue his life as Dexter did, hopefully with a code like his grandfather taught his dad. Dexter may get caught but by Harrison, not the cops.

I absolutely love the way they brought his monologue back. The whole episode I was like “where is it?! We get Deb hallucinations but no monologue?” And then boom.
Tonight’s the night.
This was a Solid premiere. The setting, the build up, it gave me hope definitely. The OG Writer is back and expect a great story building in this mini series
This show was done so great they didn’t mess up what it used to be and they captured him fighting his dark side and when his dark side finally came out. Just wow 10/10
I came off the episode with so many questions. How did Harrison find him? Where's Hannah? Why did he choose such a small town where he can't be invisible? Are they gonna do a variation of the original intro or just do a cold open with the mirage episode title? I got so excited when he started building the kill room, but the goosebumps started when he was talking to him in his actual Dexter voice. Like, YES, he's back! And the callback to the pilot with him yelling "tell me what you did" was perfect. Can't wait to see where they go with this, hope they don't shit the bed like with the finale.
Choosing a small town in New York state really bugs me. Go to Montreal and get lost in the crowd.

I just finished the first episode. My prediction is he teaches his son the code as Harry did for him. Remember, little Harrison was in the same situation as Dexter when he was a kid, covered in his mom's blood (Rita). I bet Hannah sent him because of his issues.
I wonder if the son is working with the FBI or someone in exchange for helping the only mom he knows, Hannah. Maybe a case of Dexter for Hannah after the FBI reveals his dad is a serial killer.
It's the only thing I can think of as to how a teenager could find such an experienced killer like Dexter who I can't imagine would leave breadcrumbs to be found after leaving Miami.
I'm so glad he went back to killing in the first episode. I could imagine a reboot where they wait way longer and it would've been annoying.

Then life happened….I can’t afford patrieon….showtime….whatever….then one day I hear….new season of dexter. It all came back. I realized I missed the panic….I missed the dark passenger…..how am I gonna see this? What a show…

I suspect his son is a serial killer as well, it would fit the serie so well. Dexter having to live the part of Harry for his son, having to teach him the code and how not to get caught.
Personally really enjoyed also season 7. It was interesting to see the radical change in Dex's and Deb's relationship. One of my favorite shows in general and I really liked this opening episode
And Russian villain in that season was cool af

Just watched it. Absolutely incredible. I watched the original series for the first time a few years ago and it blew me away. (Minus maybe that last season.) This episode and series brings back Dexter Morgan! He's back!

I have a theory who helped Harrison find Dexter... Detective Michael Soderquist! Yes, the man who was always working diligently and quietly while our "stars," ran ragged searching for the Bay Harbor Butcher. Clyde Phillips and company filmed the entire series as one huge movie, so we have a continuity that can not be broken say a few episodes in. You know that our socks will be blown off before the last credits roll. I have heard a few mentions about a season 2 of New Blood and depending on how our story evolves this could be possible. I too want Dexter to be found out and charged as the Bay Harbor Butcher. I’ve got ideas how that would play out.

I missed the inner dialogue until he did it after the kill. I was like “YASSSSS KING” The Dark Passenger is back, how can he keep his Dark Passenger from taking over. He’s either going to be killed or caught at the end of the season.

I was so pissed they didn't kill Dexter in the series finale. But NOW I'm so frigging happy they kept him alive so we can have this.
My personal theory for this series... Dexter learns that Harrison has his own dark passenger. Maybe Dexter even suspects Harrison of being whoever is killing women in the area.
Then Dexter has to become Harry to teach his son how to focus his urges on the right kind of victims. Hopefully the new serial killer isn't Harrison so they get to team up on whoever it is, father and son.
Course then again, my whole theory might be blown out of the water by the next episode and I'll have to come up with a new one.

My estimation is that there was a reason Dexter used the victim's knife to cut the deer throat then re-sheathed it. He contaminated the area with deer blood to mask the human blood. But, when ice crystals begin to form from the cold, it's going to destroy blood tissue evidence anyway. (shrugs) Freezing tempts tend to preserve bodies, so throwing the body in the frozen lake is probably a bad idea. Better to just take it deep into the forest and leave it for wolves. If anyone asks, Dexter can just say "That's where I shot my deer." Nobody would question it. (The kill reminds me of the time he spent with his older brother and his preference for frozen cadavers.)

You skipped over the obvious mirror of Harrison witnessing his own mother’s gruesome death and Dexter having the same experience….. and went for “the baby killed his mom”? Whew.
The way I wanted Dexter to end was Deb not finding out what Dexter had done until the last season. She would have figured it out on her own through detective work instead of just walking in on a kill. She would have had a huge internal struggle over whether to turn him in. Ultimately, she would have decided not to, and would have told him to leave Miami and never contact her again. Last scene would have been him stepping out of the shadows in a new city and plunging his needle into someone's neck. He'd give a grin into the camera as the victim went down.

It's funny but the cop he is dating kind of reminds me of Deb at times. But I'm loving first three episodes. I watched them three times and there are so many subtle things and the way they purposefully shoot some of the shots. I love that we don't get to be inside Dexter's head hearing him speak until right after he slips up. The idea of him chasing down that deer but not killing it to control his urges and then losing that causes him to snap is just great writing
