Because they didn't really want to build those chargers in the first place. Volkswagen built the Electrify America chargers in 2016 as a result of dieselgate.
Seeing the Twizzy and the Smart next to each other really shows how well Smart did with creating a compact two seater. This gen Smart car is a chunky one compared to the two previous generations. (Just as most cars)
Hey Dave, don't you think the Rivian would look amazing with diamond shaped headlights...like it's badge?! The vertical stack could remain the same with just the LED "pill" shape changed.
Dave -- Just a suggestion, as I notice a rather common "RUclips video" issue. Mainly, your music is QUITE a bit louder than the talking in this video. Not something I've noticed quite so much before, but it was noticeable in this one. I expect you folks "edit these on notebook computers," which have very low-end audio output, while folks like me are watching on systems with full-range sound -- and we're running to crank the volume down, every time the music comes on. We appreciate a bit of attention to that kind of thing -- and thanks! I also have to mention the bit with Kyle about "forgetting anything" -- just one point of great fun, among many of them. Thanks as always for your efforts!
Point noted on the audio. I edit these myself and should have lowered the audio music. I always do and somehow forgot here as I noticed it too. Sloppy on my part. Apologies. Thanks so much for the feedback!
At the end of the day Rivian has to launch a longer wheel base SUV corresponding to the truck wheel base the way Kyle was saying for a long time. However I would refrain from Rivian products until they fix regen on the heavy loads and weirdly crazy vampire drain of the battery while the truck is parked for a long time.
I'm guessing people don't take care in placing the unit back in it's cradle and they fall/break. I've also seen vandalism in my area. So, anyone's guess.
@16:00 is exactly why the US should adopt the Tesla NACS vs. CCS as the standard. The Tesla NACS is a superior charger by far. I own a Kia EV6, and won't road trip it until the infrastructure drastically improves! Since I use the EV6 as my daily driver and charge it on a level 2 at home, it's not an issue. However, I'd opt for my Wife's Hyundai Tucson PHEV vs. the EV6 for long road trips.
NACS is just the physical connector, not the underlying software and hardware, so it would not magically fix many of these problems. The secret sauce that makes the supercharger network better is the way Tesla has engineered it specifically to work with their cars (and not having to deal with third party vehicles or third party charging hardware vendors), combined with having virtually limitless cash to throw at it. To their credit, they've been successful in that effort... but having everyone else adopt NACS will just bring all the same problems along. Also, if you actually read the NACS documents that Tesla published, the contacts they use are only rated to 200KW continuous/400KW peak. Tesla runs those things way over spec at their own liability, but it's doubtful any other vendor takes that risk... meaning NACS is technically a downgrade. Their claims about 1MW charging are absolutely not supported by the literature they published.
Electrify America literally has one job. How is this level of incompetence even possible?!

Whaaat!!! No fun for the Leaf

The arc distance of 400V is 0.001 inches in normal air. It would not be the massive lightning hit level arc flash you keep saying it would be.

Gift of the gab
Did you guys buy the revel new? Those cost nearly as much as my house new.
What ever happened to Jordan?
I think he is doing his own thing at flywheel films on RUclips.
I have noticed broken plastic bits on Tesla superchargers but I don’t know how to get in contact with Tesla and send information.
Kyle loves to blame these are only a month or 2 old vandalism is hard to control Walmart has cameras but I do l doubt they watch all the time

TFTC
This is… cray cray! You folks have OCD! OCEV…?
Hi Kyle, could you report it to EA so they can fix it?
It looks like two of them might be down due to vandalism.
Tesla only!!!!
Family Swimming in cash. Wish i could afford just 2 of them ev

The US is never going to adopt NACS as the charging standard, that ship sailed a long time ago unfortunately.
How often are you taking road trips?

CCS cables are trash. Thick, inflexible, ginormous connectors. So stupid.
