    great fabrication . I do small scale logging and have a Wallenstine winch. One advantage is you don't have to back right to the log. You can winch trees to the tractor from 200 feet away. Of course the disadvantage is they are expensive to buy.
    I really like what you did here and it sure does meet your needs. One thing I would add would be an electric winch on the top plate. You could then winch hard to get at trees to the tractor so. Great video and great fabrication.
    I have some logging, fishing, camping videos on my channel, P.S. I support the paying it forward rage where a content provider like you and me subscribes to each another's channel. This way everybody gets more subscribers. Thanks Ray

      Yep, money spent on this attachment is better spent on a skidding winch. Mine is an Igland 3601, a 3 ton rated winch. Model they make today runs around $3000 new, but they have redesigned them more like the Wallenstine, with the pulley mounted up higher. Good stuff ain't cheap, but if you log much at all, it pays for itself.

    I really like those chains. They are closed enough at the opening where the chain loops around that the chains doesn't come unhooked to the log. I also like you think before you go slashing down trees. This way it is suitable logging you do.

    What a death trap. That quick chain grove you put the chain thru on top. if the tree ever gets hung up and the chain brakes and wips back at you. your probaly gone to get hurt or killed. Uses the hooks you got on under side.

      I’ll take your advice under consideration.
      Remember working load limit of 5/16 grade 70 chain is 4,700 lbs. So on my size tractor it would be hard to produce that much force to snap a chain.

      You would be surprised on how easy it is to break a chain. Although I don't think you would get killed. Just be careful and use common sense.

    Looks like that first log is absolutely covered with poison oak.

    Pretty sweet setup. How do attach a winch oh this ?

    • @ProjectKing
      @ProjectKing  2 года назад

      Could attach an electric winch to receiver hitch. But it’s really not designed to be used with witch. There is skidding winches available from companies like Wallenstein.

    What about when a large log is flat on the ground?

    • @ProjectKing
      @ProjectKing  8 месяцев назад

      Usually there is a spot you can get chain around. Logs usually are perfectly round and laying totally flat on the ground.

    That wasn't a log. It was a tree.
