Honda xl 125s or is it? can things get worse yes.

Timing chain rattle let's strip it down and see if we can see what's gone wrong with my new honda xl 125s1981 to go in my collection of Honda XLs . XL100s XL 185s XL 250s and XL500s

When i fixed a 175 i drilled a small hole in the camshaft top clamp on the chain side. I thought it would provide better oiling as there seems to be no provision otherwise. The hole is opposite the thrust side of the camshaft so i figured it would make everything smoother

Ive done the crankshaft sprocket on a xl-185..heated it with acetylene torch in one spot of the sprocket..pops right off..Cheers.!

They are going to great bikes when you get done with them. But you don't have a XL 175 yet LOL I had great fun on my 1975 XL 175. Wish they still made them lol.

I'm only collecting the XLs models at the moment just one more to find the xl 80s a rare bike to find in the UK to finish the collection . But I will have a go at restoring any bike from the 70s and 80s .

Main differences between an S and an r is just on the weight and styling engines are basically the same the R is a bit more rugged for trail riding but mainly the same bike in a different rapper

Honda x l 125 will not have a decompression on the head x l 185 will have decompression leave on the head Which works off the kick start. Hope this helps.
