Dance Academy is mainly about the fifteen-year-old Tara Webster - a girl who grew up on a farm in outback Australia. Since she was a little girl she has dreamt of being a dancer and in the series she finally makes it into the National Academy of Dance. It’s known as the best school in the country and she is sure her life is about to be spectacular.
Throughout the series Tara and her friends face the universal challenges of being a teenager and they battle through the minefield of elite dance training. Relationships grow and change as they live side by side in the Boarding House. They each take a different path, but they start to find out who they are and they all dare to chase their dreams.

this is such great (atypical) anorexia representation : abigail doesn't look like the stereotypical 'anorexic' yet her struggles are viewed as just as important and dangerous

@@ann4be1sings and thats scary. Because people are anorexic long before they 'look' anorexic. She reslly cant get any skinnier without it being near death; shes at the lowest probably healthy weight and still seen as must lose more to accurately depict EDs. Dangerous.

So pretty or beautiful when you see her in her ballet outfit or doing her ballet dancing. I feel sorry for her when she is crying

EDs are weird like that. Like realistically our body understand the we need to food to survive but our brains morph that natural need for food and turn into something.....less pleasant

Mood swings are an early sign/symptom of eatingg disorders for that reason. You may notice big moods and angry snapping; thehll tell u they arent hungry but theyll be acting very uncomfortable. Its because they are hungry and are comvincing themselves they arent. I uses to say the stomach pain was fat burning. Could go a whole day without a meltdown. Few standard meals and i became alot more balanced. Scary eating disorders very hidden illnesses. Infact my eating disorder is such a tertiary issue to my other mental disorders its often not given the help it needs; its a way to be in control when things feek out of control; a way to self harm; a way to reach perfevtion; its not even about the weight alot of the time
