- Опубликовано: 16 окт 2024
- Maruti's SHVS Smart Hybrid technology has ensured that the 1.5 litre petrol engines remain extremely frugal in models like the Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz, Brezza and the S-Cross.
So I thought of doing a fuel efficiency run with a twist - can the S-Cross better its own claimed ARAI figure of 18.55 kmpl? Watch the entire video to know the truth!

S cross is the Most underrated Car in the Indian market...It comes with all the Basic features...spacious...Decent build quality...very good and Refined engine...and A good Fuel economy...in a very good price.
5 star built quality hai
S-cross is such a promising car. I bought this 2 months ago and happy with performance. I drove a strech of 50 kms on Hyderabad ORR with no AC and Cruise. I got a mileage of 23kmpl at 80kmph constant speed. And getting around 15-16kmpl with AC on city roads.
Hi I'm planning AT version. Do u know approx average in city & highway for Automatic version of scross
Really bro We are planning to buy.....
I got 26 on Highway at 60KMph
Hi bro , why didn’t you chose other cars like Nexon , Brezza , Venue over it ?
And is S-Cross better than these cars ?
@@pritam1047 scross comes with 4 disc offers much space for 5 people and a very nice suspension
Wow, genuine 19.7 kmpl in mixed driving conditions is impressive for the S-Cross, just thinking how fuel-efficient their upcoming BS6 diesel mills would be ;)
Diesel nahi aa raha, cancelled
Actually he is crusing at 60-70 kmph so any car can get that mileage even Fortuner will show 16 kmpl if we drive like that… practically it doesn’t work…i have the same getting average of 14kmpl
Thank you for this excellent video Bunny Punia. It was very helpful when you pointed out numbers on the console and MID. I also noticed that this engine wants you to shift before 1.9k-2k rpm for the best fuel efficiency - less rpm, more load. Good stuff! Do you think a 6th gear in this car would have been awesome for cruising on the highway and getting more fuel efficiency?
On diesel engines, apparently, MSIL has scrapped the Diesel engines project altogether. No more Diesel from them. It seems like their focus is going to be on smart mild and strong hybrids. Toyota and Suzuki have already come out with Corolla Cross and new S-Cross based on the updated TNGA-C platform in other markets. Toyota Corolla Cross is a strong hybrid and Suzuki S-Cross is a mild hybrid. You can see reviews on RUclips. If our govt removes this idiotic and criminal taxation system on car engines (1.2, 1.5+), and reduces the GST/Cess to around 15% from 28% now, we can see excellent cars (that we can afford) from not only these both manufacturers based on hybrid drive trains in our country, but hopefully also get Ford and Fiat to come back here.
Excellent performance. I’m now convinced about my new car purchase option. Thanks.
I’m now a proud owner of SCross since 09/2021. Excellent car with unbelievable fuel economy. A 1200km drive gave me an economy of 19.4km/L😀.

Shaandaar car hai bhai!
I had been driving this car for an year now for daily commute.
- European build aur driving dynamics hain (not just looks)
- Steering response and handling are sound and well composed
- 1.5L+"tiny electric motor" provides sufficient power to take command on highways with confidence and the overall performace is good
- All 4 disc brakes make the experience safe and fun
- Android Auto makes the experience better and well connected
- The ground clearance gives one confidence on roads or no-roads
- The suspension is well tuned for Indian conditions
- The cabin is silent, spacious and roomy and the car is 4.3m in length, so boot space is also alright
- Minimalistic and all black interiors give a sporty aesthetic feel.
- And with good fuel economy, it doesn't hurt the pocket, as well, to drive it
- Zeta variant offered cruise control, 215/60R16 tires, alloys and also rear wiper with defogger
It was a great deal overall at ~11L in the year 2022 as compared to the then and also new/upcoming available options at this price range.
*The only beauty feature missing in the Zeta variant was the absence of LED DRLs head/tail lamps (although, aftermarket upgrade is an option but none at the authorised dealership)
Great job challenging ARAI mileage, this real life mileage is impressive!
very informative...thanks for the showcasing good feature of suzuki smart hybrid system...got good understanding....in case if suzuki increases battery capacity to a bit more high ..i think we could get more improvement in mileage...
Very well done.... While Maruti is doing pretty good in terms of decent petrol engines, they should seriously look at smooth Auto Gearbox options vs market. Hope to see your next video soon. Cheers !!!
Their torque converter is preety smooth even though it has 4 gear
@@SC-kd5ln Yes, only on S-Cross. Rest of the vehicles it is a lol.

Great great review Bhai appki.
Very useful.
Your explanation was awesome.
Keep it up brother
Bhai meri zeta bhot beed me 14, mixed me 16 or highway me 21 de rahi hai. Cruise me 23.6 derahi hai 85kmph par. Or 130kmph highways me 16-18
This cars fuel economy has reached 26kmpl for me in highway which is very good for a car like this
Please test S - Cross automatic also. I have seen engine RPM of automatic is lower than manual at 100 Kms. May be it comes out more efficient on highway. Waiting for your report. I am thinking of buying automatic, mostly for highway use.
I have driven automatic also. One of my friend has that. If you are buying mostly for highway use go for manual. That would be a better choice in the case of highway driving. Go for S cross auto only if your running is more in city. Otherwise you would spend a lot on automatic without gaining anything in mileage. Even mileage of manual will come more in highway driving. Only rpm at 100 is not a sufficient criteria to jugde the mileage. This is a 4 speed torque converter automatic. It given low number of gear ratios. This could be 5 or 6 speed for more fuel efficient. I suggest go for manual if highway driving is more. 🙏
@@301dinesh now bro he is saying right manual scross do 100 kmph at 3000 rpm 🤦 but 4 AT to is 2300 rpm and 120kmph at 2600 rpm
Wov bro what a way you showed and taught the driving techniques its really awesome, I really appreciate your planning to get good fuel mileage. Superb. A very good video. Thanks
After how many services can we expect 18.55kmpl mine 2 services done today 13kmpl i m getting in petrol 2021 model s-cross
Hi sir.. I am planning to book scross Zeta AT.. but mean time I am also liking to go with Nexon XZ AMT ..but confused to compare the mileage in city for both.. please suggest
S Cross diesel drive lightfoot with cruze control without Smart Hybried like this you can achieve 27-28km/l with AC in the highway. Whether Temperate should be below 33 C
Please suggest me if i can install government approved CNG kit in -> Scross Smart hybrid Sigma 2021 -> is this car has approved cng kit how to know
Difficult. Plus i dont think BS6 S-Cross will take a kit easily. BS4 will / might
Was it the new 1.5 BS6 engine?
The body of scross is heavy so in day to day drive, the engine have to put more in stop and go traffic.
On highway on constant speed it gives good mileage if driven below 90. Even in 90-100 with sedative acceleration one can get around15 easily..
Since it's NA and heavy car, quick accelaration easily eat up the mileage. When you see minions like wagonr, alto, and other chotu cars accelerating ahead becasue of lighter body..
Hi I'm planning AT version. Do u know approx average in city & highway for Automatic version of scross
19 in traffic for a petrol is really impressive.
It's true.. i am also getting continuesly good fuel economy in my s cross petrol

But if you want sturdy look.. sufficient ground clearance..better inner space... petrol car... comfort of a sedan...then go for crossover...S cross..

I am also facing same issue . Tata service is pathetic. And Nexon has gear box issues and steering and clutch issues .
If I am correct Brezza Manual doesn't have Smart Hybrid system
Smart hybrid is only offered in automatic not in manual

May be that is problem with test drive. No one complaints about AC or braking as these both are excellent in this. I have driven Zeta petrol for more than 15000 kms and both are good with this. Take test drive at some other place. Regarding AC it chills and braking is excellent and even more effective at higher speeds. 🙏
@@301dinesh How are the zeta headlamps ? I am confused between SCross alpha and zeta mostly due to headlights
@@mahipalsinhvaghela325 Go for Zeta if want to save more than a lakh. As lights are concerned alpha has LED lights and Zeta had nornal halogen which are more than sufficient. LED Halogen are not of much use in Indian driving conditions. As the time passes you will become habitual of lights whatever you purchase. Change your driving style....
Maintain below 2000 RPM and use light throttle.
Use 5 or 4 th gear (if possible 🤞)
Plan the breaking. Avoid sudden acceleration and sudden breaking.( practice needed!!)
In case of sedate driving on highway and speed below 100kmh I got 20.4 kmpl
The speed matters it comes to mielage in petrol version😇

I own S Cross 2021 ❤️
I will tell you why your method of testing fuel economy is flawed. The range clearly showed 557 when you started and if you were to drive full tank in the same condition i dont think you will get above 700. Let me know if you think otherwise
The DTE or range displayed keeps changing as per your driving pattern. When I filled her up, the system calculated DTE as per my last driving pattern
The maruthi range will change depends on driving do full to empty will give you best calculations
It not constant, will varying with your driving.
