I think the press created a myth that he was a bad actor. Probably because most musicians who try ARE. Admittedly not all his films were good, but he had such charisma on screen in all his roles and his own style that like most things to do with Bowie was ahead of his time. He was great as Thomas Newton, Jareth and in Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence. And as Pontius Pilot and Monty in the Linguini Incident. Just A Gigalo was a mess but he was still watchable. And he does a Fred Astaire style dance in Absolute Beginners (which is also not that great) which livens things up!

Bowie looks dashing, sophisticated mystical, and humble at the same time. So handsome and majestic. His acting is superb.

“Mister Angier, have you considered the cost of such a machine-“
    ‘Price is not an object.’
“Perhaps not. But have you considered the cost?”

I wonder if Tesla ever actually said that. The price $$$ can be different from the cost. Interesting perspective, from a man who apparently didn’t care much for money and/or was just really bad at personal finance?

David Bowie was mesmerising! He truly is the only one that could capture the mystical nature of Nicola Tesla.

David Bowie's Tesla has got something in common with another historical and more famous protagonist in Nolan's filmography, Cillian Murphy's Oppenheimer: the sadness of a lonely genius who's haunted by his remorse and a world that he knows to have radically changed, maybe on a worst way.

If only Bowie could have appeared in a full length film about Tesla. His Telsa says, "Nothing is impossible." Perhaps one day, people will be lucky enough to see THAT film...

I knew exactly who he was when I first saw him, who can forget the charismatic acting of the goblin king. My only thought after was why did he not become a great actor? he had the hallmarks of one, I can only respect that he poured his focus into the dedication of his craft first and foremost before anything else. This is what made Bowie "Bowie", a man of many talents, king of many trades, and as such a master of many.
