Your woodworking skills are "Mads", you did a great job on the companion way as well as all the other trim work, it looks incredible. Ava, what can I say, your spice rack project is spot on, that was absolutely a great way to protect all the spice bottles. You guys sure make a lovely couple! Until next week, Sea U! P.S. Happy Birthday Mads!
Watching the intro part it kinda dawns on me that there are ALOT of work going into these videos; closeup shots, drone shots, music etc. Thankyou for making such enjoyable videos ....every week.
I used to watch this channel religiously when I was younger and I only recently found it again, glad to see that you are making so much progress since I last seen
Happy Birthday Mads!! After watching the entire evolution of your DIY skills, I am convinced there’s nothing you can’t do. And Ava is such a welcome addition as well. I’m pretty sure she’s going to be able to do anything on Athena too!
You guys are hitting your groove. Loved this video. Loved how you slowed down the fast forward of the work being done. Loved Avas parts. Loved the walk. Well done. So excited for you two. 😍
I’ve been watching for a little more than a year I believe and I’m thoroughly enjoying your adventure. Terri and I had this dream 35 years ago but unfortunately it was never realized. Your work is inspirational. Positive vibes for you two.
Your skill as a wood worker is only surpassed by your ability to explain how and why you are doing it. Thank you for making my Sunday nights a lot more fun.
Madds, just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your attention to detail with your wood working... I know its very self satisfying but there are a few of us "Boat Renovators" who truly love your workmanship! It inspires us to try and do the same....
Mads and Ava ,the boat is absolutely beautiful. You two compliment each other perfectly and it's wonderful watching you holding hands an seeing the love and affection you have for each other. The only negative thing is I wish the videos were a little longer. I enjoy watching them every week and they are the best ones on u tube . Thankyou for allowing me to be able to enjoy your life togeather. God bless, stay safe and life time of happiness for you .
My Sunday isn't complete til I hear your voices!!! I love the new doors! An that spice rack is the Bugatti of all spice racks... Love it... Guys Athena is really looking beautiful... You've built a beautiful home .. a sailing beautiful home!!! ✌🏼💗😊❣️
Allow me to compliment you on the companionway doors....they look great. Through the years I've built numerous companionway doors for various sailboat designs including Island Packet, Pearson, Irwin, Hunter, Tartan and many others, using either teak or Starboard per the customer's request. If I may, allow me to make a suggestion-on the outside of the "last to close door" add another piece of trim to cover the exposed gap between the two doors when they're closed. That way there will be seals on both the inside and outside, providing additional weather proofing. What I've learned through the years is once companionway doors are installed, boatowners love them so much they leave them in all the time, forgetting about the washboards. I have doors on my Beneteau that I made from Starboard and they're only removed when racing.
Hi Mads and Ava that lock and canal you walked over was part of the old London to Portsmouth canal system, it was much used until they invented the railway!
Actually it was Chichester to Arundel and the aspiration of connecting to London never ever came to fruition. The Chichester canal actually had a short commercial life of only 25 years (1822-1847), it had a later brief resurrection for commercial traffic under the Corporation of Chichester 1898 - 1906.
I just find myself smiling, that I have enjoyed this channel so much and it is for the very spiffy indeed! Also the spice track solution is also washable!!! Lovely that you're sharing your epic rebuild and your travels
The companion way look terrific...and it's not even finished. I also can't believe the production quality you put out as a one (now two) person crew. I've watched PBS shows that aren't done this well. (PBS is like BBC for the US).
Enjoy watching you every week, I get so involved in your videos that I forget to leave a message. In short I enjoy you both, you seem to work well with each other.
Lovely job on the companionway doors, what a difference! Never really saw either of you two as having feet of clay, but hey, anyone can have an off day. Can’t beat a decent pair of wellies for taking on the UK in the winter months. My personal preference are MuckBoot “Chores” for a serious sole and really good insulation. They’re dead comfy and having warm, dry, feet has transformed my working day on the farm. Not the cheapest but far from the most expensive out there. Cheers from Cornwall, R. 😎👍🍻
Fantastic work on those doors Mads and the spice rack liners are genius Ava. Athena is getting closer to being a finished home for you two. While you are in Britain, you try to connect up with Kika and Dan of Uma. It would be fun to see the four of you interact and swap refitting stories. Take care, stay well and have a spiffy week ahead.
Ava, I love the felt idea, it looks amazing and good job on it. I agree with another persons post about possibly using a blank square to sew in between the jars, but, honestly either way works just fine. Thank you for sharing!
Mads, A hint on how you keep the plexiglass on the new doors from having so much static. Dryer sheets! Rub a new dryer sheet on them after you clean them, and it will take the static away. The dryer sheets are designed to reduce static in the dryer and it works wonders on plexiglass. We use this trick on airplane windows that are plexiglass and it really works amazing! Cheers!
I suggest installing two 5mm neodymium magnets in the bottom of the doors and two in the door frame. It'll keep the doors closed when you want to keep the companionway hatch for venting steam/hot air while cooking and such. Recess them slightly and put a little matching paint on the magnets. They'll not touch and scratch off the paint but be close enough to hold the doors closed.
watching Ava make that pocket doohickey was absolutely fascinating. epoxy and woodwork are in my wheelhouse but sewing is an arcane skill i just dont get. neato!
Great video as usual! Fantastic trim build, what a star James is 👍 As others have mentioned Fishbourne Roman Villa is great (check its open!) and Birdham Marina, you walked past it on the way to Itchenor. We always find West Wittering Wittering/East Head a great place, especially in a blow. Looking forward to more trim next time 😉
Very Spiffy Love it
The addition of Ava to Sail Life really has brought a whole new wonderful aspect to it; making is a lot more rounded.
The quality of your videos has always been great, now they are greater with the addition of your First Mate!!! A woman's touch
Thank you for bringing your joy and creativity into my Sunday. Ah yes cruising, also known as "working on your boat in exotic ports".
Your woodworking skills are "Mads", you did a great job on the companion way as well as all the other trim work, it looks incredible. Happy Birthday Mads !! And hope the wedding in Denmark goes off with a “hitch”. Sea Yoo !!
It was great seeing Mads out having a walk!
That wood work turned out fan-freaking-tastic, amazing how much that changed the appearance.
Happy Birthday Mads!! After watching the entire evolution of your DIY skills, I am convinced there’s nothing you can’t do. And Ava is such a welcome addition as well. I’m pretty sure she’s going to be able to do anything on Athena too!
Companion way +100% Spiffy-points for sure! Neat job on the anti-rattle Ava!
Great outing. I forgot how beautiful the English countryside is. Thanks!
You guys are hitting your groove. Loved this video. Loved how you slowed down the fast forward of the work being done. Loved Avas parts. Loved the walk. Well done. So excited for you two. 😍
Beautiful woodwork on the companionway, etc.! I like Ava's spice shelf too. You two are a great team :)
Best sailing couple ever!
Nice seeing the boat get finished off , the odds and ends list is shrinking . Great video again thanks
I’ve been watching for a little more than a year I believe and I’m thoroughly enjoying your adventure. Terri and I had this dream 35 years ago but unfortunately it was never realized. Your work is inspirational. Positive vibes for you two.
As usual, edutainment and warmth. Best channel for inspiration! 🎉💯🤙🏽🍻
Your skill as a wood worker is only surpassed by your ability to explain how and why you are doing it. Thank you for making my Sunday nights a lot more fun.
The second Ava mentioned rattling glass, I was thinking felt was the solution. Thinking alike!

Super spiffy trim Mads. Can't wait for James to get his RUclips channel up and running, I love watching craftsmen create. Thanks for sharing.
You guys are so happy! It is wonderful to see.
I am really enjoying watching Ava's skills and abilities grow! Way to go Ava!
'Not super cold, only -2°C'. Spoken like a true Dane!
My Sunday isn't complete til I hear your voices!!! I love the new doors! An that spice rack is the Bugatti of all spice racks... Love it... Guys Athena is really looking beautiful... You've built a beautiful home .. a sailing beautiful home!!! ✌🏼💗😊❣️
Stay healthy and we'll see you next week.
Companionway looks excellent. Nice work.
Great video. Filming that walk really added allot of steps to setup those tripod shots. Thanks for the extra work, it looked good.
I really like your companion way doors. I'm adding them to my project list for my Catalina.
The website is really spiffy! Good job guys!
Finger decapinator 2000. LOL! Oh Mads, never change.
happy birthday mads and have a wonderful wedding day
Thanks for sharing you too and good luck next week
Nice work peeps! Chichester and the harbour are my parents’ side of the woods! Good memories from our visits.
Hi guys. I was so pleased to watch this video. There was even a little glorious sanding.
What a cracking couple of people! So clever and totally amiable.
Happy birthday wishes Mads. Hopefully you enjoy your celebrations
Love the finger decapitator 2000!
Another great video Mads and Ava .

Also, that trim piece will hide the gap. The gap will quickly become imperfect, so hiding it is good.
Spiffylicious Mads...entertainment delight !!!
Ava your crafting skills are great! Happy Birthday Maas!
Wow,that sawing thing made my head hurt, next level work right there!🌞

Cool to see you holding hands on walk. Live. Love. Learn.

Kudos to James!
That felt spice bottle separator is impressive af. Couldn't figure out how you sewed it together until you explained!
Great job! 2 fantasic crafts people!
This guy can do it all. Amazing skills 👏
Ava, 5mm? Are you sure it's not 5cm? And great work both of you. I wait all week for this. Best to you both.
Ava is so cute when she gets metric measurements mixed up!
I hope next video we get some glorious sanding.
Enjoy watching you every week, I get so involved in your videos that I forget to leave a message. In short I enjoy you both, you seem to work well with each other.
Outstanding- well done to you both - Regards Australia
I see Ava is still learning the metric system. Five millimeters... Pff! She'll get there eventually.
Everything is bigger across the pond - even millimetres 🤣
Came here to say that LOL 5cm != 5mm
Ava lives! Great video as always, hope you are doing well.
And busy getting married next week. Best wishes from the crew of Wave Dancer
Fingerdecapitor 2000... love it
Happy Birthday Mads!
Just beautiful, the workshop is a dream.

The companion way piece was really nice as well as the other big piece over the v berth door.
The spice rack is great. Like the felt wrap.
I see Ava likes a good pair of Tasmanian boots. I’m sure you would both also like the wonderful sailing down this way. Hope to see you down here.
Companionway would of been my first spiffy. LOL Great Job!
Everything looks fantastic keep up the good work
Absolutely love your work guys. I was not convinced by the spice jar pockets - but wow - what a result. Now I’m convinced !! BTW I also love Chi:)
Great job - you are good people. Thank You
Wow, great to see my favourite Salterns Way. I cycle it regularly and like you, end up at the Ship Inn in Itchenor. When it's open.
Glad you made a website in addition to RUclips. I'm not a fan of those other social media channels.
Ava, I love the felt idea, it looks amazing and good job on it. I agree with another persons post about possibly using a blank square to sew in between the jars, but, honestly either way works just fine. Thank you for sharing!

Danish Mads needs to put some Danish oil on his iroko :)

We want more DIY fun!
Finger remover 2000! I love your sense of humour!!
Great job !
Thanks for the bung placement info. I need to tighten up the grab handle on companion way
