While negative emotions like envy can get a bad reputation, they may not be as bad as some people think.
According to W. Gerrod Parrott, a psychology professor in the Georgetown University College of Arts & Sciences, all emotions can be useful in some way. Emotions are a product of evolution and help humans survive and achieve their goals, he said.
