All that power only 153db, anyone know why?
153 is still very impressive. Especially at his hz tune @32. Anything over 150 is very respectable. However, he could increase 1- 3 dbs' with more batteries and power wires + different box + a ton of deadener.
More batteries + wires = more power for greater voltage stability. Different box factoring in box rise. Some frequencies will cause the ohm load to rise +1 - 1.5 which lowers the amount of power delivered to the subs as the amps begin operating at a higher ohm load. The cab of every vehicle acts as a bandpass of some sort. More deadener = greater capacity to retain spl. The box is the most important given that a regular bandpass enclosure will act like a series 6th order with the windows down. Hard to calculate with such a large vehicle but those parameters still exist and need to be accounted for. If he were going for more spl, a wall would drastically increase the db's, but I don't think that was his vision.
Yes, he could theoretically hit higher numbers given the above list, but for what he has (a c pillar no wall box) he's slamming.
I hit 153.7 at 28hz clamping around 8k watts with 2 sundown xv3 15s in a 6th order but i can definitely gain more once my 390a alternator comes in cause i am dropping down to 13v at half knob.
